Interestingly I just attended an engagement party of an ultra orthodox, JW, relative of mine. I couldn’t help but think the same thing. Here were my observations:
- His fleshly sister. Married for less than 2 years was siting on the opposite side to her husband, the whole evening. In subsequent conversations with the parents it wouldn’t surprise me if there were problems. Tbh other than JWism that’s all they really have in common. I think if it hadn’t been for the religion, probably would have never gotten together. Would of had sex, and the relationship would of died in the natural course of things
She was nearly 20, and he was early 20s. It would be unfair of me to judge someone on their appearance as the first time I saw the guy was on the wedding day. My initial impression was of a guy who looked like a young boy. I remember thinking I hope he doesn’t act the same way he looks.
- at the engagement I heard of numerous weddings and engagements that had been happening in the local JW area. I’d assume all late teens, early 20. I couldn’t help but think, how many will end up in divorce in a few years time.
Both my relatives, the one engaged, and the one presently married. We’re not even 22, and married the first person they dated. I’m just so glad I am out of all that nonsense.

How Much of Russell and Rutherford is Left?
by NotFormer inrussell is kind of acknowledged as the founder, but rutherford is the one who really made the wt what it is, or at least laid the foundations for what it came to be, today.
how much would someone from that era recognise in the wt today?
what are the big changes that they would see?.

Russel founded it. Rutherford formed it, to what it would become, and not for the better. Nathan took it to the world. But I can’t help but think that Freddie may of been pulling the strings for a very long time.

No more REPORTING field service!!!!!!!!!
by BoogerMan inthis is going to break the hearts of a lot of uber-jw's!
reddit has now removed the video link of samuel herd telling jw's they will no longer have to report time or placements - just tick a box which says "active.".

Stan live death / Vidiot - yes I was thinking along the same lines. Same story with ending the book study, as a meeting point for when the great tribulation starts. In reality it just become to much of a liability if anything went down during a Wt sanctioned event.

TM3 needs to be taken out of that house, and put in an area that has better security. At least a high fence which doesn’t allow anyone direct access to his front door. I can’t understand why WT thought that this might not be an issue. That guy is going to end up getting seriously assaulted.

Interesting experience with my PIMI Father
by joe134cd inthis highlights just how flawed the jw thinking is.
recently, it had been arranged for another jw to take my father to the convention in a couple of weeks time.
a few days ago my father is informed that his ride has refused to drive him due to his underlying health conditions.

To be fair my father isn’t in the best of health, but I certainly thought that refusing to take him up there was unwarranted. Ok, I thought, this isn’t a problem I’ll drive him up, and I also offer a ride to the person who refused to take my Father. As this person is also elderly as well, but not incapable.
I got to thinking about this. Here is a person, who out of agape love will lay down their life for the sake of my father during the great tribulation. Yet couldn’t lay down his life for the sake of driving him a few 100km. Yet an apostate, who Jehovah is going to destroy at the great tribulation, laying down his life for both of them, and at the same time, doing it in his own car and dime. I would refuse to take money of this guy as he’s also a pensioner as well. Just blows my mind really.

The Great "Dumbing Down"?
by NotFormer ina few old timers on here often refer to the dumbing down of the jw organisation.

Talking about turning into drones. I recently had an ultra Orthodox Pioneer Cousin. Look me straight in the face face and say “Wt has always encouraged using the internet for evangelising. You’re going to love this one “Wt has never had an issue with growing beards.” I just give up with these people,

If Tibor is a disgruntled worker, and decides to go live with what happened. This could be the thing that sinks Lloyd. If it was a toss up between the end of L.E or the end of WT. I think I’d choose LE.
It’s a real shame really, as his online work and research has been nothing but first class. I’ve been watching him ever since he started, and he was very instrumental in my decision to leave. It’s just a shame that his off screen antics have are now the thing that has tarnished his online presence. Such a shame really.
