Prominence and attention. Now I've heard it all. They never cease to amaze me. So when is this talk on I may turn up just to hear it.

Friend gets "scriptural divorce" over wifes transgressions before they got married...
by sosoconfused inso i have a friend in a congregation in new jersey who recently called me to tell me that he got a divorce.
nothing surprising there at first but it is the fact of when it happened.
his wife began pioneering april 1, and after about three weeks she came to him and told him that about 4 years she had engaged in loose conduct (fondling the penis and the guy kissing her breasts) during a time that she was inactive.

With JDub politics. Sometimes it's just easier to keep your bloody mouth shut. I would just show him the above mentioned article. States it there in black and white. I hate it when you are getting unqualified individuals making up rules for people, who have no right to do so.

Anyone know the rules on JW's and Tattoo's????
by superman ini'm an inactive fader (only fading and not da'd for the sake of my family) but i still have all of my privileges and haven't done anything (that the hounders know about) that would get me df'd.

My impression. They won't DF you. But for all the bloody drama it will create is it worth it. My advise is get one in an inconspicuous place and say nothing.

Hey Simon. I'm just curious but how many new members are signing up in a specific time? How many hits do you get in a day. Where are most of the hits coming from (I would be guessing USA). Also has the rate of new members and site hits increased from say what it was 8 years ago. I would be interested to know this as it could be a good indicator of how well the WTBTS is performing. It would stand to reason if members were happy and fulfilled with the Org then this forum would be decreasing.

Interesting quote from the DC
by GoodGuyGreg ini don't know if anybody else has mentioned this, but i'm currently at a dc in sweden, and this morning, during the symposium on different kinds of service, it was mentioned that 40% of baptisms are the result of informal witnessing.
if you add the number of baptisms of children of jw parents to this, how many are left that are baptized as a result of the door-to-door work?
doesn't sound very effective at all....

Agree with you there to Julia.

Punkofnice=I agree with what you are saying. I would say that the majority would be young Borne in kids. Bullshit about the 40%. Bit I do agree that the only increase in the D2D work is angry people.

I'm on the Stage Const. Crew - Here at the Arena right now!!!
by tresdecu inafter lunch i will be the guy nail gunning the plywood letters to the top part of the stage.
so when i get to the word truth, i am going to mutter "bullshit, bullshit, bullshit....etc" the whole time i'm nailing the letters, obviously very quietly to myself.
;-) that way when i am listening to the bs tomorrow, i can smile to myself knowing the letters have been properly christened!

I remember going to a convention and the words were put on crooked & I spent the entire time looking at the crooked wording. I've got the photo to prove it to. I'm surprised that no one fixed it during the lunch break either but it was like that the whole day. Surely someone must of noticed.

Where has the money gone??????
by joe134cd inafter all the real estate sell offs, im confidently sure that the wts must be a flush with cash (well at least for the present time).
i cant believe how blissfully un-aware the local dubbies are about where the money has gone and what it is been used for.
so my question is where has all this money gone??

It was actually some Mormon missionaries who told me that they make annonomous contributions to community projects (e.g schooling facilities). I have heard of 2 examples (1 is listed above) where the LDS church helped members who fell on hard times. And one of the people who told me about this was a landlord of the church member who couldn't pay the rent. Which sort of gives it more credibility. But I do agree that they would be taking in way more than they give out.

Steve= with regards the the Mormon church. What you haven't acknowledged is if a member falls on hard times the church dose help them out. I heard at work the other day of an LDS member who lost is job and the church stepped in and helped him out. I do know they also contribute to community projects as well. Hey u don't mind giving if its to a good cause. Sure the watchtower askes for donation but the only thing they give back is a DFing if u step out of line. hehe. Btw Steve I left you a P.M.
