All the Old JW Acquaintances Passing Away
by StephaneLaliberte inyesterday, my dad told me an older sister passed away.
she wasn't too old (in her 60s), but i knew her 30 years ago and haven't seen her in 15 years; the main reason being that i faded 10 years ago.. yesterday, i seriously considered attending the funeral and catch-up with old jws i used to know.
after thinking it over, i decided against it.

Ron.W I can relate something very similar to your experience, at the lack of help a terminally ill JW received. The unbelieving husband of one the JW daughters, wasn’t impressed. -

Yes I’ve also been faded for about 10 years as well. It’s something that I have often thought about. There have been a couple of, who I still consider, friends who have passed away. I would have really have liked to attend their funerals. But just don’t want to be put back on the radar.
Get this. I have still been invited to jw barbecues through my father. There is just no way in hell I’m going to do that. Well at least with a degree of sobriety.
I think once my father, and his jw Brother die then that we’ll be it for having anything to do with jw relatives / friends or their events.
The only reason I’m as passive as I am with regard to the TTATT, is for the sake of my fathers physical and mental health.

A new Tony Morris thread: Question
by XBEHERE ini am not trying to hijack the already well commented on thread on this subject .
https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/5068920948523008/breaking-news-anthony-morris-iii-no-longer-serving-on-governing-body.
however i do have a question: for pimo's, pimq's, and those who still go to meetings in person fairly regularly... is anyone still talking about this?

Chevel : I read the link you posted. Like the thread I’d dismiss this Dan Sydlic thing as mere nonsense, that is unprovable.

Sydlick wasn’t a kiddy fiddler. If he was that’s the first I’ve heard. Please show me links.

Joined an online meeting incognito
by joey jojo ingot a link for a zoom meeting and thought id share my experience about the mid-week meeting.. guessing about 100 - 120 in cong.. 50 on zoom, only 8 with cameras on - all elderly.
watching from a detached point of view it's so obvious at how it is nothing but a glorified sales meeting, all designed to promote the org.
inspirational videos about how everyone can/ should do more to help with projects, in particular how to look after the kingdom hall, complete with bar charts showing levels of achievement to aspire to.. interestingly, tonights book study is about alcohol..

There was a reddit poster who mentioned that to log into zoom you had to get approval from the elders. Wt cannot go completely on line. It will finish them. -

Like I’ve mentioned before. Where ever he is. Both Watchtowers and his greatest concern has to be his safety. The worst PR situation that could unfold if he was to be seriously assaulted. The questions that would raise both internally as well as externally, could be worse than the secrecy of why he left.

I’ll tell you my story that highlights the irony of this. I was a young JW kid who decided to put up music posters, of the time. Harmless stuff really. One day my self righteous great uncle decided he was going to take issue with it and guilt tripped me into taking it down, which I did. Skip forward a few decades latter. My elder uncle has died and I go to pay his widowed wife a visit. Low and behold she has got a blown up photo of the governing body hanging on her wall. I questioned her about it, in an extremely tactful way. She couldn’t see a problem with it.

If you’re happy with your son leaving the cult. I would discourage this relationship for practical reasons. Also remember the natural attrition rate for born in JWs leaving the religion in latter life is 66%. So I’m guessing your son is well on his way.
