I have been thinking about this topic for a while now. Yeah, I'll play. They are not praying for any of us to return. We are personanongrada. While we may be praying for some to leave, many individuals would not be welcome to our club either.

They Pray for Us to Return, and We Pray for Them to Leave
by BabaYaga in...ironic, no?
notwithstanding the concept of prayer, i know some of us are still praying, and call it whatever you like: wishing, creative visualization, casting spells, planting seeds of doubt... .
why is us being right now and trying to convince people so vastly different from us thinking we were right then and trying to convince people?

What's Your MAIN Reason For Not Believing In "The Truth"?
by minimus inmy mother had this discussion yesterday.
basically, my main argument was that if the fds gets jehovah's holy spirit and their "food" is "the truth", yet they always are correcting themselves, how can anyone in all fairness believe it's "the truth"??
you can't show scripturally why organ transplants are a form of cannibalism and clearly a disfellowshipping offense and a couple of years later after possible disfellowshippings or death, and then believe jehovah god changed his view suddenly.

The seats at the Kingdom Hall were too hard.

The abuse of power by the men leading the organization.
The printing of many false and misleading publications.
Counting and reporting time in the "service"
Shunning.
Discouraging higher education
Refusing blood transfusions
Killing children with molestations and non-healthcare-really bad parenting.
Refusing Military service
Dictating personal dress and grooming
Tearing God in to three chunks
That's ten examples-who wants to add to this?

Why do many of us keep refering to IT as "THE TRUTH"?
by ldrnomo inbecause that was the name the borg placed on it's religion, "the truth" it seems to be stuck with many of us.
i am making a concious effort to not refer to it as "the truth".. it is not the truth, it is not the way, and it is definitley not the life!.
so let's stop it people!.

Many of us came in to the "truth" with a comprehensive study from the book called "The truth that leads to eternal life"
I really try not to use the old language from the JW world, but it happens to even to the best of us.....A little ways back in this thread someone said we should call it "The Lie" Now that would be telling the truth!

If you could get back the time spent in WT what would you do differently?
by Thechickennest inis it too late to start over and pursue your dreams?
where would you likely be in life if it wasn't for the time spent being one of jehovah's witnesses?
was there anything salvagable from the your former life in the jw cult?.

"Socially and Intellectually Incestuous"
by Bring_the_Light inwell, i've been thinking deep and hard about "what is wrong" with the borg.
lots of people believe shit that ain't true, thats not it.
lots of people pick and choose their friends and associates based on who is like them, that's not it.

Incest, masturbation....don't forget bondage. Once tied in we are tormented for the duration. If we manage to escape the intitial imprisonment bonds, in another respect we are tied up again for a different kind of treatment. I have to wonder if we ever really get loose. Light, you really are on to something here and it's really scarey! Our captors are evil, evil, evil.

My Wife Is Getting A Sheparding Call
by sacolton ini've disassociated myself since february.
i made no secret of my disapproval of the wtbts and was very vocal to my doubts of it being god's true organization on earth to the po.
now, the po and another elder has scheduled to talk with my wife tonight for a sheparding call at the home of the book study.

I don't know how much more advice you can stand on this issue...so, I will try to take it easy on you.
My wife was born into JWS, a large extended family of JWS still very active. I made my informal departure from JWS a couple of years before my wife followed. I never encouraged/discouraged her one way or another. I never stood in the way of her attending meetings. We only talked spiritual matters if she brought it up. When we both formally left the borg, she lost her entire extended family. I would say you have 50/50 chance of keeping your wife. It is a matter only you can live to see its end good or bad.
Our experience was a postive one and one for which I am thankful. Hope that yours will turn out well too. Take Care.

Hi:
I noticed that your friend said that "Jehovah forgives" ("This is classic JW "Let me evaluate you") Srt8 of course he misses you. You sound like you would be a fine, quality friend to anyone. Someone said a little while ago to go ahead and have a frank discussion with him. I agree. He may not immediatly respond, but he will never forget what you have to say. Just don't get sucked back in. Take Care.

Personal Experience I've Never Shared - I Hope it Helps Some Here !
by flipper ino. k. how do i start ?
i will preface the start of this first by saying this happened many years ago - in 1985 when i had just become a new father myself to my dear son flipper junior, i'll call him.
when i explain this to you, some of this may appear comical, in fact, now that i overcame it years ago, i can laugh at it, but when you see the totality of the story- when it happened then to me- it was no laughing matter.

Mr Flipper:
I would of went to prison if someone did that to me, because I would of killed someone! Mustard in the face would'nt have been what I would have done. I swear when it comes right down to it some JW men do not have any boundries at all. They are worse than animals. I have read some things on this board that just shocks me. I have seen sisters come to the meetings with black eyes and broken arms with some pretty shakey stories. One sister I recall was the presiding overseer's teenage daughter. She was a regular pioneer. A couple weeks after her mysterious injury she moved out of her parents home and left JW's and dissaccociated herself.
What happened to you was a savage attack. You would'nt have been wrong to press charges. That stupid dumbass elder that told you to move on....well, I can't think of enough things wrong with his attitude.
The young boys had to be mortified at the behavior of the men attacking you. It's no wonder the organization brings up abusive men from infancy that later go on to abuse there power and physically harm children and adults alike.
Thank you for sharing.
