I started hearing that line in 1976 when I started attending a congregation bible study. My opinion is that this system is way better in many ways than it was back in 76. It can certainly can get worse than it is now.

"This system just cannot get any worse"
by JimmyPage inthat's what my dad has said at various times over many years.
i think it helps encourage him that the end must be very near and the paradise will be here soon.
my thought has always been "oh yes it can get a lot worse.

EMPTY KINGDOM HALL
by thebigdebate ini have heard from my father (who is an elder about 50 years old) that there is a great seperating work going on within the org.
he said that almost all of the people my age 25 to 35 have quit going to our hall (about 20 people).
i have not been to a meeting in about 1 year.

Welcome!
I have not been to a meeting in years, so I don't know what the current trend is. There are many new contributers to this board. From what I can see from this board the WT is giving the boot to the age group you speak of. What is there for them at the Halls? Nothing practical or encouraging. It's just the same old soup served up time after time.

Do you hate elders and ex-elders?
by nvrgnbk indo you think they all ended up being elders because they were ambitious and loved to exercise authority over others?.
or do you realize that each elder has his own story and that some became elders under great pressure?.
do you really think that all of the elders enjoyed participating in judicial committees?.

No hate involved. Some elders were arrogent asses. I just kept clear of the ones I did not care for. Few elders are true humanitarians.

I enjoyed meeting new people be it witnesses or folks in the door to door work. Meetings and assemblies were brutal. My caboose is still sore from all the sitting!

Do You Still Believe In Anything JWs Taught You?
by minimus inare there any beliefs that you learned from the witnesses that you still believe in?

I learned nothing as a JW. JW's don't teach. They don't have a clue.

Were you shocked about MS that you know of that got appointed as an Elder?
by asilentone inyou might be thinking wtf he should not be an elder or something like that.

Many times. Its seems like appointments always had to do with who you were related to. My x brother in law was appointed as an elder. Everyone knew he hated children! Same guy eloped with a young sister. A ms appointed early on in his witness life had a problem with drinking and driving. Poor guy was removed almost as fast as he was appointed. The part about being appointed and removed by the holy spirit is laughable!

Dogs on the bed yes no?
by restrangled inthis is a lighter topic.. how do you feel about your dogs on the bed?
forbid it?.
my boys are allowed on the bed all day but at night we say "down to the crate" the crate happens to be a very expensive leather couch with many pillows.. they listen to what ever we say, but the human bed seems to be the best place.. i change the sheets every other day.....can't stand the itchy, scrachties!.

We have a pommeranian/schipperke mix. (15lbs) She sleeps on the end of bed. We live in a very old house. She's hell on mice and spiders. We don't have any thanks to her! She eats them, gads....once we had to take her to the vet after a spider bite in her mouth. Her head swelled up...it was scary. If there is anyone within 50ft of the house she pitches a fit! I don't know how she can hear so well, but its kind of nice to know whats going on. I really don't like sharing the house with animals...we have a huge old male cat that weighs all of 25 lbs, We had the animals for our daughter while she was growing up as she is an only child and got a lot of good out of having someone around all the time even if is just the pets.

Reasons to Miss the Grand Boasting Session
by WTWizard inthose grand boasting sessions have begun, some of them starting with children still in school (and some when they needed to be at school to take final exams).
and yet they insist on people skipping school (and work) to be at all three days of these wastefests.. now, why might there be reason to go?
curiosity is one, and that is the kind of curiosity that often leads to trouble.

Nothing new at these sessions.
Too expensive.
It's hard to look at the older ones having a tough time swallowing the lies one more time.
Its hard to see the sisters standing in line at the restrooms.
No fun being a parent of a small child or watching parents struggle to keep the kids happy. Its not the kids fault. Its uncalled for and abusive to make children be still for hours.
Even worse yet would be to see someone drop dead to only be ignored by the speaker as was mentioned today in another thread.
