The Experts- Jehovahs Witnesses
by jean-luc picard ini was thinking this weekend of a brother i first met when i was a teenager.. not yet an elder, this brother was very outspoken, and was viewed a kind of hero to the r&f.. an inexperienced teen, i also believed ( influenced by others) that this guy was a godsend.. looking back, with the eyes of a more mature person, i now consider him an arrogant self opinionated bully.. he later became an elder and i might add that he also had an imposing physical appearance .
but he had no education.
no schooling.

I was quite lucky coz my mum came from a country that experienced war while she was of school age as was forced to leave school after her first 2 years. She found it hard to find a decent paying job with her limited education once she migrated to another country. She made a promise to herself she will do anything in her power to ensure we - her children - got an education that will allow us to live comfortably & support ourselves. Shendidnt wantnus to have the struggles she did coz of her lack of education. It wasn't easy as we were very poor after my parents divorced and mum went without so much just to ensure her kids were educated... Even though she has always been a very faithful jw, in this instance, She totally ignored the Borg's opinion on education...

People who pioneer on government assistance
by ilikecheese ini had a chat with my boyfriend about this, and he said that he knows quite a few pioneers who are capable of working but prefer to pioneer with government assistance.
his thought was, "well, it's kind of bad, but at least they're doing something useful/good with their time.
" i know from reading this board that it's a pretty widespread thing.

Way back when I was aux pioneering (while working part time), there was a reg pioneer who was same age as me that was on the dole... Didn't think it was fair my taxes paid for her to knock on doors...

Are you a new viewer of this forum?
by punkofnice ini'd be interested to hear from you.. i know at first there is the paranoia that the elders will find you out if you have a user id here.
i only believe this is the case if you leave your pc in plain sight unattended, give out your password, tell someone what you are 'researching'or give your real name and location in a thread or gravatar.. cut to the chase.. what brought you here?.
anyone here because of the new 'generation' 'new light'?.

Punkofnice - thank you. This religion is the reason why our family is so dysfunctional... But at least the blinkers have fallen off & I can see it or what it is... It's also comforting to know thatppl on here understand what it's like.... I have so much I wish I cld share on here but I have chosen not to as i am doing the slow fade... I have already lost too much...

For me it wasn't so much their teachings as I always found meetings & assemblies boring & my mind always drifted, but enjoyed the social aspect. Back then, if a teaching had changed I wouldn't of really taken much notice cause i never really listened to what they were saying.
Even though I was hardly attending meetings & witnessing had been non existent for a while at the time, it was more the treatment I received frm so called super-spitual dubs (inluding family) that made me think something was very wrong. They ignored my need for help. in fact at that point, it was over 10 years since i recieved a shepparding call. I literally felt like they had tossed me in the gutter. Ironically I came across this site while googling the JW site to download the latest study mag as I was visiting a friends cong. It's only been thru this site that I realised the inconsistencies in WT teachings. Every time I come on here I see another teaching that I was lied to about. It's been very overwhelming knowing, as a 3rd generation born-in, I have been lied to all my life!!

I just feel alone
by joe134cd ini just feel isolated and tired of the situation i am in.
no witness visits, and this just makes me even more spiritually lethargic..

Dont u hate that most jw friendships are so conditional... Witnesses frm my Congo stopped visiting me a while ago. At one stage when things were really difficult with my circumstances I asked for help... I got nothing... Hang in there...

What is your experience when you stop turning in time?
by gingerbread infor the past year or so, i've been turning in just one or two hours of service time.
it has been mentioned to me from an elder "friend" that i'm never seen at any meetings for field service.
i get his implication.

No one gave a shit or asked when I stopped turning in time... That was several years ago even though I was still attending meetings regularly at the time...

Depends on how corrupt the elders are... I've seen some get away with so much & other get d'fed for practically nothing...

What was the recent change made regarding baptisms?
by Witness My Fury injust saw a post by splash on the commision transcript thread: (pasted below).
we had a talk at our hall recently, basically saying that there have been lots of letters written to the uk branch, questioning and complaining about a new change introduced for the baptisms at the sad and ca.. the talk did not try to reason, it did not try to explain.. the talk was "do as you are told, don't question what you are told".. we were told to do as the song instructs us "listen, obey and be blessed".. we were told that this change was from jehovah so keep up with his chariot.. i think this talk was given in quite a few locations around the country.. what was that all about please?.

Many ethnic congs are closing here too... Young ones have married and moved to English congs, while many young ones leave the truth altogether which leaves very empty meetings with very few old people... Stuck in their old ways...
