2014 Event

i know its a year away but i wanted to inquire about the hundred year anniversary of 1914. it would be amazing to have a world wide event reguarding all exjws.

i am nowhere near capable of putting this together but i'd like to propose the largest assembly of exjws ever on october 1st 2014. can it be done?

am i the first to bring this up?

the boy is 17, and earlier this year the courts ruled that he was to be forced a transfusion.

My theory is that Steve doesn't believe in god, but for the sake of his clients he goes along pretending he does.

If you think about it - an atheist is pretty much the devil to people in hgh control religious groups. The important thing is getting people out of thr group, then they can have the freedom of mind to make their own decisions.

If they knew that he was an atheist it would make his job ten times harder as they would trust him less.

Just my theory.

For anyone interested - I finally got an email back from Steve Hassan's staff regarding this:

Our work with ex-JW's continues to grow and information on our website helping ex-JW's continues to accumulate. We believe in peaceful picketing, as long as it is respectful and positive. You don’t want to reinforce the doctrine that ex-members are evil and corrupt so it is very important to show respect and to not attack the assembly. You should check to see if you need a permit and perhaps speak with local police beforehand to let them know so they can be of assistance if needed. Thanks and please remember to be respectful and follow any rules that apply in your local area.

The Governing Body Myth

whatever your feelings about god or the bible, you may agree that thier manner of communication is very nice.

when the matter could not be resolved, paul and barnabas took the issue back to the congregation of the brothers who originated the problem - the jerusalem congregation.

we learn from this account, not that the jerusalem congregation served as a headquarters or governing body that handed down instruction and guidance for the other congregations.

I know some JW's that have more or less left the org but are now poring over this website and the ideas they talk about.

I'm happy they've left the ORG, but I'm a bit worried about this site. Any opinions on if I should try and help them get over this stuff - or is it relativly safe for a believer?

I'm an Atheist so all delusional stuff bugs me, but looking at the site there'e a question about Ray Franz and they basically respond saying they haven't read his books but kind of sort of agree he was on the right path (so I assume they HAVE read his books) and don't really encourage anyone to read them (keep em dumb). Spells danger to me.

How should I apporach this?

What's in it for them? (GB)

if the wbts is just another business?

then what do the gb get out of all this?.

tim cook (ceo apple) makes around 378 million a year.. donald trump makes around 60 million a year.. i understand the wbts may have vast property holdings, stocks, bonds, and revenue from donations.. but i can't grasp the incentive for the gb to make this stuff up.

The million dollar question - do the GB believe their own bullshit? We can only speculate.

I think if you compare them to other cult leaders like Jim Jones for example. He didn't (as best we know) believe his own Bshit. He had brainstorming sessions to think up new doctrinal ideas. He was ultimately an egomaniac sadistic piece of....

That's what I think the GB are. Read through the latest December Watchtower and tell me that they don't know what they're doing. Pure and utter manipulation from cover to cover.

I think if the Governing Body reduced in number things would get more insular and paranoid. It will be interesting when some of them die off in the near future - perhaps if they can't find suitably sinister replacements in time the JW's may be faced with a trinity of GB or even one.. If that happens then before long I guarantee that the koolaid will come out.

The Dubs pretty much reflect the attititude of these old men, who don't have much time left themselves. They want to take the Dubs with them - and given the opportunity they will (koolaid?). If the GB were younger things may be slightly different - but that would never happen. Old white (mostly) males with big egos and zero conciences are the qualifications.

On page 412 of In Search of Christian Freedom there is a picture of a watchtower article called "An Open or Closed mind - Which do you have". Next to that is a picture of a woman dumping an 'apostate' letter in the bin before even opening it (you can see the mailman walking away in the background) - the caption reads, "Do you wisely destroy apostate material?"

Anyone have this picture? I don't have a reference other than the page number in ISOCF
