I get the feeling the only interest they'll get from this endevour is apostates who want to pick a debate.

I wonder what kind of permissions they would have to obtain from the local councils to set these up. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't include leaving them unnattended.
You could just help yourself to all the literature on both stands and dump them in the garbage bin.

Tech49 on HOURS, TIME, and REPORTS
by Tech49 ini thought i would share some of my observations on counting field service time, reports, etc.
and how those reports are viewed, to those that are still so fixated on numbers.. i served as secretary on the service committee for many years, and have seen it all!.
i was really disheartened when wt changed the requirement for aux pioneering to allow for 30 hrs, instead of the 50 it has been for so long.

I was always honest with the times.
Some of these tricks, like the doing a call nearby before travelling a far distance to country witnessing were openly talked and planned by most witnesses, as if it was a totally legitamite thing to do.
You guys who are still going out witnessing, knowing what you know about the society - how on earth do you do it?

New Awake magazine goes after the media

some interesting quotes.... while it is wise not to believe everything we read in the news, it does not follow that there is nothing we can trust.
the key may be to have a healthy skepticism, while keeping an open mind.tone: when the tone of a news item is angry, spiteful, or highly critical, it suggests that an attack is under way and not a reasoned argument.sources: is there evidence of thorough research?

Blast from the past.
Just wanted to point out a Watchtower article (march 1st 2003 WT) - I think released around the Dateline program???
We also need courage when opposers maneuver the media into spreading bad reports about God’s servants or when they try to restrict true worship by scheming “trouble by decree.” (Psalm 94:20) For example, how should we feel when newspaper, radio, or television reports about Jehovah’s Witnesses are distortions or outright falsehoods? Should we be shocked? No. We expect such things. (Psalm 109:2) And we are not surprised when some believe the published lies and distortions, since “anyone inexperienced puts faith in every word.” (Proverbs 14:15) Still, loyal Christians refuse to believe just any statement made about their brothers, and they certainly do not allow bad publicity to cause them to miss Christian meetings, to slow down in the field ministry, or to waver in their faith. On the contrary, they “recommend [themselves] as God’s ministers . . . through glory and dishonor, through bad report and good report; as [according to opponents] deceivers and yet [in reality] truthful.”

Jehovah's Witness boy fights court for right to die
by jwfacts inhttp://www.smh.com.au/nsw/religious-boy-fights-court-for-right-to-die-20130917-2tx5u.html.
this is tragic.
the boy is 17, and earlier this year the courts ruled that he was to be forced a transfusion.

The court ordered him to have the transfusion.
While noting he was highly intelligent, a "mature minor" and devoted to his faith, the judge also found the boy had been "cocooned in that faith" for his entire life.

There was another thread recently about JW's shunning inactive ones. Response to this? Just send them a link to this Watchtower video. If JW's actually followed this advice there would be no shunning - too bad it's offset by everything else they output.

Lol, just an off topic point I noticed in that magazine - Watching the world: Between 5 to 10 percent of long-term unemployed remove university degrees and professional experiences from their resumes because these make job applicants seem overqualified.

This pretty much fits every criteria of the child abuse video they produced themselves wherein they used a highly edited, 10 year old, out of context interview with a therapist (whom they called a Doctor). They withdrew it after the therapist took action against the deception.

The Urantia Book
by chrisuk inhas anyone here read the urantia book?
i was recently made aware of it and so far i've only read the wikipedia on it.
there's a part of it that apperently goes in to more detail than the bible about the life of jesus.

I read a small snippet that was posted on anointedjw about John the Baptists 12 disciples - as far as I could tell it was pure speculation (claiming to be inspired) and fleshing out a single line of scripture into a much larger story. I'd be interested in what others have to say who have read more.
