Good job Lawrence and congrats on getting representation!

i don't cook so i usually eat one meal a day out.
i pobably spend a couple of hundred a week with food an d drink.
what about choo?.
I know I spend far too much money eating out. But it is just me and while I do enjoy cooking, I don't find it all that rewarding to just cook for me.
So I eat out at least 4 dinners per week averaging $40-50 including the bar tab. So that is about $200/week.
With my crazy schedule (I travel a lot for work) I get so pissed off throwing out produce that goes bad before I can use it. Even getting a bunch of bananas. If I go away for three days ultimately a couple of bananas will be over ripe. A guy can only make so much banana bread...
So I eat out. Food quality is important so I scope out several places, find out what they are good at and thus get a range of options. Since moving into my house I am BBQing a lot more so that provides fewer reasons for eating out but really should cut back... not to mention the coffee and breakfast sandwich each morning (another $30 per week).
my friends mum is a dub , and she has told her grandchild to come back to meetings as armageddon is coming in the form of swine flu and its going to kill everyone in a month because a member of the congregation had a dream , the problem is the month has passed !
what a lovely grandma telling her grandchild such bedtime stories ,physological child abuse i would have thought it really pisses me off that these people get away with putting such fear into kids heads and have the damn nerve to look down on "worldley people " poor kids .
The current forecasts for an Influenza Pandemic Resurgence of H1N1 mutating with a seasonal flu strain is just less than 0.5% of the population (for 'First World' Countries).
For example, Canada is predicting about 112,000 deaths in the above scenario with a population of 27 million. This death rate would be over the course of a 3-6 month period meaning approx 20,000-40,000 deaths per month averaged across the entire country. This is essentially double the number of people that die annually from regular or seasonal flu.
A sad and sobering figure for certain but definitely not the stuff of 'armageddon' type predictions.

you gotta be kidding me!
this is one of the weirdest things they've come out with.. .

look at the video - hope everyone down that way is dry.. jeff.
We just got hit here (just west of Toronto) with a wicked storm this afternoon as well. Storm sewers were not able to handle the water flow and in about 45 minutes we had a puddle in our work parking lot (big enough to hold about 70 vehicles) about 5-6 inches deep. That is a lot of water in a short period of time to make that happen.
But the sun is now shining (trying to maintain a positive approach today...)

Calibre:
I have heard this thought before... all I can say is quite a number of years ago both the wife and I got our one and only flu shot... within one hour we were both severly sick with flu like systoms. I never get any flu's but that year I did !
Considering most if not all flu virus usually takes 48-72 hours from time of exposure before someone would have any symptoms, it is likely you had some form of allergic reaction (or psychosomatic) rather than 'getting the flu'. I am not discounting your experience but it is not scientifically sound that you got 'the flu' from the flu shot.
In order to get sick from a bacteria or virus, there has to be enough of the bug inside of you to overwhelm your immune system so it goes into full attack mode. This and a weak immune system (often caused by lack of sleep, poor diet, stress) are usually the components required to be sick. Thus even if the vaccine contained a live virus, it would take at least two to three days for it to reproduce in sufficient quantity to make someone ill.
Allergic reactions require an existing sensitivity such as to eggs (contained in most vaccines) so that upon even limited exposure the body's immune system goes into overload/high gear.
There are plenty of well researched web sites that can do a better job explaining the science behind the above statements. I encourage everyone to do their own research from reputable sources (aka not Jim Carrey & Oprah).

Of interest:
On July 29, ACIP met to consider who should receive H1N1 vaccine when it becomes available. The details are available at CDC web site http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/vaccination/acip.htm -- however for your ready reference I have extracted out the relevant section: It should be noted that the H1N1 vaccine (when available) is not intended to replace the seasonal flu vaccine – it is intended to be used along-side seasonal flu vaccine. The groups recommended by ACIP to receive the H1N1 influenza vaccine include:

Normally I would say it is up to each individual.
This current situation is different. I would STRONGLY suggest that anyone between the ages of 10 and 25 receive the vaccine for the current H1N1 as well as the vaccine that will likely come out in December or January for any mutated version (the more deadly anticipated strain)
More than 50% of the current people being impacted by H1N1 are in this age group. This vaccine is an opportunity to provide some immunity to this potentially lethal flu strain.
In Canada, they are calculating 112,000 fatalities if this strain mutates with any of the typical seasonal flu strains.
Any connection with an illness post flu shot is purely coincidental. Dead virii cannot make someone sick. All seasonal flu vaccines contain nothing living that can reproduce and make someone ill.
Thay are now discussing school closures if there is a resurgence of a more deadly strain in the Fall. The more we can protect our kids the better. Remember the Society once said vaccines were evil. Don't fall into the same mindset.

here's another update on my brother in law:.
my sister and b-i-l went to the cancer center in toronto earlier this week to see about getting the stemcell transplant for his disease.
it was actually an encouraging visit as the oncologist there said that they did not feel his condition had progressed into the acute myloid leukemia yet and that he had longer---up to 2 years---than what his local oncologist had said.

four lawyers defending jehovah's witnesses have been deported since march, forum 18 news service has learned.
a leaflet by a traditional mari el pagan priest is among the latest additions to the federal list of extremist materials, meaning it is banned throughout russia.
Knowing the two Canadian lawyers fairly wll I admit to snickering at their experience. For John Burns not to even have a chance to say a word...that is amazing since he usually has more to say than most. Shane thinks of himself as untouchable and god's gift so for him to be roughed up a bit would do him good.
Only trouble is this situation just makes him more of a hero in the eyes of the Witnesses. It will only increase his god complex
