I had the "priviliage" of attending the 3 days of the "Give God Glory" convention. For those interested, i will be posting some observations. In one of the first talks, the speaker interviewed a young one, who gave his "experience" of being on the internet and being "seduced" by the pornography so readily available there. He admitted to sitting at the computer for up to 3 hours a day looking at porno. Till the fateful day came when his parents checked up on what he had been looking up, and made the gruesome discovery of his porno watching. How humiliating. He said his parents encouraged him to go to the Elders, which he did, and confess his "sins". He encouraged all the "young ones" in attendance to avoid this "snare". I'm sure the Elders had encouraged him as part of his "repentance"to go on stage in front of 4,000 people and tell his story. I'm sure he'll probably think twice before logging on to "Chicks With Dicks" in the future. More to come.......................................

Watchtower = Pharisees
by drwtsn32 inthe wts always talks about how wrong it was for the pharisees to make an endless number of rules.
but the wts is guilty of the same thing.
you can't have a beard... you can't watch rated r movies... you must report your field service activity... you cannot go to costume parties... you can have some blood fractions but not whole blood... you can't read any stuff that is against our opinion... yadda yadda yadda.. my mom (an active jw) argues that theses are not rules but only guidelines.

I guess I was just hoping to "connect" with someone on the board. This has'nt happened yet. There have been some here who have been real cool though, and I appreciate that. I feel that because I am still going to meetings in "body" not "heart", and have'nt completely gotten "out" yet, that this is held against me. Maybe I'm wrong, but I realize this is a big board with a lot of posters. And it does seem to be kind of "cliquey", with a lot of xjw's who have been out for a while. Trust me, I am not some idiot dub with a 40 IQ. I happen to have been raised in the Org, and have a lot of family still in. You can understand how tough it is to deal with this. I know GOPHER that I come off as very whiny, and pouty, or whatever. But take it easy. My goal is not to have everybody "like" me as you put it. It is just to have a dialogue with folks that may be going thru the same kind of things I am right now. This may not be the place I was looking for in that regard. My suggestion that there be a seperate board for "newbies", I believe is a valid one. I guess anyone could start their own if they so choose. No more whining from me. My hope is that someone out there may be where I am at right now, and we could correspond. I realize that this board affords me the opportunity to possibly find such a person, and for that I am grateful.
Thanks,
Integ

Hi, how are you? You've threatened to leave the board a couple of times before, so why don't you just do it. Nobody cares. If you want, just go back to the hall, they won't care about you either. Anyway, what kind of sad ass would rely on an internet forum to meet like minded friends? We are XJW'S who are very angry at WTS for screwing us around. We will not tolerate ANY kind of sympathy for the Org. even if there is any semblance of validity.. Got it? Good. Now don't let the door hit you in the keyster on your way out.

correction : You probably WOULD be df'd for making a pattern of going to R rated movies I think. Not beards though. I saw a witness wedding where the best man (an inactive witness) had a full beard. This was last week. I know my opinion does'nt matter to 90 percent of the people on this board. Which leads me to a question? Is there anyway we could start a seperate board for newbies who are just getting out, or who are thinking about it? It seems like after the initial "love bombing" here.(.You know, the obligatory "welcome to the board" thread that welcomes all the newbies.) After that it's just a bunch of cliques talking back and forth about stuff. I happen to not be in any of these cliques...Hell, my name was'nt even mentioned as someone anyone on the board would like to meet. That's fine, I just want to be a part of something. This is just like the hall in way, I was ignored there as well (too worldly). Just looking for some friends. Maybe we could have a seperate board for newbies. You did'nt read this anyway.

I have to agree with the "guideline thing" . I really don't think anyone would get DF'd for going to an R rated movie, or for wearing a beard. Your Mom has got a point here. Would'nt the Pharisees(spelling) cut off your testicles, and hands, and stone you and stuff if you broke their laws? Sorry, just trying to be fair here.

Proof Buddhists Are Happiest Religion??
by metatron inthe link is too long and impossible to post but at yahoo news - health there is an article taken from new scientist.
that analyses brain states during meditation.
they might be able to measure happiness objectively, with appropriate sensors.. .

Buddhists may be "happy" people because of their relationship with God. If one meditates and is able through practice to locate the source of Allness...Which one ultimately finds to be their own Self, it can only lead to positive results. It has nothing to do with the name of some religion. Non Buddhists can practice this as well, and find startling results. David Hawkins in "Power vs. Force" brings out that you probably would'nt recognize the people who have attained the peace that comes with what is referred to as enlightenment. They could be insurance agents, grocery clerks, cab drivers, etc. They seek no "glory" in the world. The stillness of divinity manifest in themselves is more than enough. It is not neccessary to shave your head and wear robes to reach God. God is there always in ALL of us. Even in JW's. It is just a matter of removing the layers of illusion that we are seperate from God. And embracing the Grace that is You. Just some thoughts.

I need to vent
by blindfool ini haven't posted much lately, i've been busy with so many things.
i'm really pretty well adjusted to being part of a jw family, my wife and all of her family are jw's.
these people who say they are so full of love.

I remember the scripture "You will know my people by the love they have amongst themselves". JW's always use this to say they are the true religion, but in my experience I've always gotten more "love" from "worldly people"..Even though raised in the "truth"...Now this has been explained away as being because I am in the world sometimes and the world is "fond of it's own". If I were more "spiritual" the world would hate me. That's nice. But at the hall they are for the most part self righteous, stuck up people. who really don't like me because I'm too much in the world. It is very "conditional" love. The whole "love" thing among the JW's is a bunch of horse hockey.

Yes Unique. Are we not grateful to the Faithful Steward for giving us this food (urine) at the proper time? Watchtower 5/20/2005----The Faithful and discreet Slave surely have our best interests at heart by shepherding, and protecting us, from independant thinking? At first glance we may have had the "worldly tendency" to not yield to the Societies direction in the matter of urine drinking. Thinking 'I don't need to drink urine" "I'm just fine with my current liquid intake". Displaying an independant spirit in this matter can only lead to everlasting "cutting off" by aligning ourselves with "Satans' wicked system" and it's "Me First" attitude. Did not Boaz yield to Jehovahs' direction when thoughts of independance tempted him? Surely. We all do well to heed the Faithful Slave's direction on ALL MATTERS pertaining to personal and congregational issues. By doing so we show that we are indeed 'holding fast to what is fine". Admittedly, drinking your own urine may seem distasteful at first, but by so doing we show we are "obedient in all things" and may one day have a chance to drink from the river of life, if and only IF, we stay close to Jah's Organization. NEXT ISSUE: Eating your own shit......Not as bad as you may think.

In other words "Listen to, and obey, EVERYTHING the Elders say to you, even if they tell you to drink your own urine, do it, they are God's messengers". Would it not be to your best benefit? Surely.
