Disfellowshiping is it the act of judging?

somehow to me the disfellowshipping is very close to judging another person.

jesus once said he who is without sin cast the first stone.

now i know how that repented person felt when jesus stepped in.

Well, if they really believe in the bibles' interpretation, the witnesses SHOULD stone wrongdoers, because if that is what God's law is, then it shouldn't be comprimised.

Looks like they are obeying man's law instead of God's.

God says stone 'em.

Man's laws say you can't.

Who wins here?

P.S: Yes. Disfellowshipping is standing in judgement. But it's okay for the elders to judge because they are acting "in behalf of" God, as God's representatives here on earth.

"Judge not lest ye be judged" doesn't apply to them.

anyone heard of this guy?.

he built up an insurance agency in michigan, and sold it for over 10 million dollars.. apparently, at his big office in novi, michigan, he only hires witnesses and they are all making big bucks.. i know an agent who was going to work for him in another state (they do business in 10 states i think), but declined to sign up when he found out the organization was owned and operated by witnesses.. he said: "that explains the ridiculously low commissions they pay their agents".

they sell alot of life insurance.. why would this witness owned agency push life insurance if the end is so near???.

well, really IF the end is truly very, very, near as is claimed by the Society, then why would any witness who truly believed that, purchase a life insurance policy?

I didn't think that was a ridiculous question, given the fervor in which the witnesses believe it is the time of the end, I personally see great value in the purchase of life insurance.

As to why a witness would become an agent and SELL life insurance?, I agree that it would be a way to earn a living, and I don't disparage a person for doing that.

By the way, Mr Patterson still runs the agency as CEO, as part of the 10 million dollar deal with Penn Treaty Life.

based on what is written in the bible.it is not forbidden by their faith but is a matter of choice for the individual, he said.. who is richard parker - branch committee?

The reason the WTS arguments don't stand up to scrutiny is because they are defending an org. based on lies anyway.

Parallels between Jonestown and WT org?

how many saw the recent "jonestown-paradise lost" on the history channel?

i realize the suicide/murder of over 900 in jonestown, guyana on novemebr 18, 1978 may be old news but i've always been interested in how cult leaders hold power over their believers.

i've been reluctant to classify jw as a cult but some obvious parallels struck me:.

I agree that it is a big stretch to compare Jones and the Watchtower, I think that with a group of people deciding fate, there would have to be at least one guy who wouldn't want to kill everybody . What would be the point.???

Also, last time I checked, ther weren't any armed guards at the assembly hall stopping people from leaving.

i just talked to my mom (dub) yesterday, which was poorly timed (after there meeting).

she tells me that the speaker said in his talk that there are two sides in this world - jehovah's side and satan's side.

if you are not on jehovah's side, then you are on satan's side.

Yes.,I have heard of it. I read the article. I still go the meetings occasionally (once every 2 months or so out of family pressure), and I happened to attend yesterday's watchtower. Someone commented that; "I just started a job at a bank and there is a girl there who was using bad language and I told that I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses, and please stop using bad language around me".

Her comment was out of the blue and out of context from what was being discussed, and typical of the self righteous attitude amongst the witnesses.

"I'm better than you because I don't swear."

What are the Elders thinking? What are JW's thinking?

there was a time when most jw's solemly believed that the "end" was comming in their life time, that the preaching work was a life saving work and the most important work on earth and that the wts was god's organization, god's agency, the only channel of communication on earth.

i think that most jws today somewhat still vagely believe that now but i wonder, what is going on in the minds and hearts of the jws today?

Check the Nov. 1st 1999 WT "questions from readers" next time a witness tells you they don't vote. Apparently it's okay to comprimise if there is pressure on you.
