I am going to admit one of the reasons I enjoyed the meetings was getting to dress up. How many women out there found the meetings an excuse to dress up. How often did you shop or co ordinate outfits so you looked great every meeting. Please sisters share your experiences.

ps:

I didnt know what designer clothes were before I joined the cult.

I also didn't know that ones spirituality was rated to how one looked!

Individual Governing Body Members and Lawsuits

i don't know if this has any legal implications:.

since the identities of the individual members of the governing body have been publicly confirmed (not that we didn't know that before) can that open the way for direct lawsuits to be leveled against members?.

for instance are there any laws in the usa that would open the way for geoffrey jackson to be targetted by the lawsuits from child abuse or no blood transfusion deaths?.

David Miscavige the head of the Scientology is currently staring down the barrel of a civil lawsuit. he is the spiritual leader of scientologists. he is currently trying to get out of being subpoenad to a case against scientology and harressment. They dont call people names like evil apostate they track them down and make their life physically difficult.

the case is about how the spiritual head does have a lot to say in the entire running of the org.

What level of IQ does one have, to beleive " TRUTH " changes. ? or old "Light " old truths " New Light " new truths " ?

okay, i never went to university , or had a college education, though i`m damn sure that "truth" is "truth" and it never changes.. if you" beleived "something was the truth in the past and now found out it was not correct , you cant say it was an" old " truth ,it must have been wrong/false reasoning in the first place......so it was never really the truth.. sure you can be aware of a "new" truth something you never knew beforehand , though whether you knew it or not ,it has always been a truth.

example:the earth was the centre of the universe ,beleived as a truth.........that beleif was false , it was not an old truth.. if their was something you beleived before as true and you now find it wasnt true , then it was false / untrue .. their is no such thing as an "old truth " and a "new truth" that is apparently accepted by jehovahs witnesses .. if jehovahs witnesses were as honest as they profess , then they would acknowledge when they make adjustments to their beleifs/doctrines that they were wrong in their initial understanding of said scriptures instead of passing it off as old truths or new light.. i was a witness for 33 years before it became obvious something was just not right with this religion and it took another 10-12 years before i found this site , that set me free.

so i ask , is it an iq level ?

I don't think IQ has anything to do with knowing truth from lie. As you mention in your post Galliano discovered that the earth was not the centre of the universe. Yes prior to his discovery this was believed as truth, fact, but galliano's truth became fact. Never was the previous teaching labelled as a lie . but nor was it announced as newlight!

Only the WTBTS coin the saying old truth and new truth. They play with words and blur fact from fiction... lie from truth. they are conditioned to believe lying doesnt exist in their doctrine.

You dont need a high IQ to differiente between fact and fiction, lies and truth, unless of course your blinded by the cunning wording the society uses to dumb their masses.

Bragging among JWs...

posting about the wonderful preaching day on fb... posting about what they ate for lunch, snacks, dinner after preaching... posting about rubbing elbows with the co, do, etc... posting about getting into pioneer school... swooning over the latest gadgets, right after the meeting... being obsessed about what clothes to wear during the assemblies.... etc.. etc... being proud of having an sp, bethelite, etc relative... being unable to take pride in academic, secular, or other normal achievements leads to the above, i guess.. and it's not at all different from how "worldly" people behave these days... .

There's plenty of other ways to have a share in the organization.........just dont ask questions about this systems impending collapse (Warwick NY will be completed 2017) and give $$$$$$

Literature carts are the cruisiest way to preach ever - photo attached

it was a perfect spring day, and a jazz band were playing in the mall near my work.

in front of the band, two watchtower literature carts stood in solidarity.

i could not work out who were the jws attending them.

My blood has boiled, ..for the last 3 months i have walked past one of these stalls in inner city Newcastle Australia.The guardians of the stall always have head down not acknowledging any one!!!. I want to say something to them ie: pioneering hours logged... dishonesty non pro-active preaching.... i am nervous when speaking to any jdubs. I think I need to write letter of complaint to society in Australia " no one approaches me when i am standing at the display"! smells an easy way to count time

One of my first awakenings was trusting in human nature, it wasn't easy for quite some kind. One day it clicked the JW's belittle humanity. here I was staring down the barrel of a world full of humanity via charities and opinion of individuals. The world is full of contradictions but i believe from the bottom of my heart human nature cherishes peaceful outcomes for all. when I was in 'the truth' i ignored fireman rescuing people and strangers saving others life. Acts of unselfishness. It was a major moment of realising i had be disillusioned. As John Lennon said lets give peace a chance. Lets give humanity a chance with all our foibles as humans.

...drink a lot?

gosh i love wine.

i like a good bottle of wine each night, and i have a high tolerance to alcohol, though i never drank much (except for a couple of times with the vodka, but i don't keep that stuff in the house anymore, way too dangerous) as a jw because getting slightly happy is a 'sin'.

Julia, Your post has made me feel better. I too like to have a glass or two of red wine of an evening. Hey Fulltimestudent Ron Walters was an elder in the first congregation I was in. In fact his wife studied with me. sorry to go off topic Julia, He would have a glass or wine or two with his meals, although i got the impression he frowned upon heavy drinking as we had a brother who loved to watch the footy of a sunday and drink a six pack or two. He was never allowed to be an MS. Small world!!

Alone in a hospital bed for two months' a curiosity job'. death of a child. but the only encouragement i got was when are you coming back to the meetings. And dont take the blood!! the time alone gave me time to rediscover that i didnt have to cowtail to this mob and a husband who was ignorant of what i was going through. and a daughter lost separated from her mother left with a man who professed to be christian but in reality a liar and very cruel emotionally man to her.

I paid out on myself for five years knowing that i was damned no god to pray to daughter confused. the truth about the truth came to me in about 2002 when i discovered the internet. and typed in jehovahs witness's

Telling my wife that I would accept a blood transfusion

i am 33, married, from switzerland and i have a little baby boy.

i am still a jehovah's witness and i am still attending the meetings.

"In the last elders school, they told us to cooperate with doctors when a minor is involved and not insist on no blood transfusion (just tell them of our blood less wishes). If we would insist on no blood, this could lead to taking away the right to care for the child".

Sounds like the Society is covering their butt.

hello ,i am a jw,been in the "truth " for about 6 years.i have to be very careful because i know the witnesses monitors sites and report to the elders ,i know cause that is what my blood sister does,she spends hours trying to find apostates in the closet.i know stuped.. so this is my situation.i have known about jw almost all my life and heard that only them have the truth,lots of my family are in it.i was the one taking too long to baptize ,i knew it was expected from me.and i always had a need to make ppl like me .so i took the dip.i started to notice that there are lots of jws that belong to little groups.i wanted friendship so bad and at the time had a need o tell ppl about my horrible childhood traumas i guess i was not over it yet,and needed some to lisent since i had drove my spouse nuts already .what happend this ppl pretend to want to be close to me so they can know all my business and then tell everyone at the hall.then you realize uhhh,they never confided their personal stuff to me.is like a game " you can tell me your stuff,but do not expect me to keep it to myself and do not think i will tell you my dirty laundry.a lot of mind games.. so i was alone ,invisible ,i still can't believe i put up with so much !

i can't wright not even half of what i when through.i feel paranoic now.so i came across a youtube video by jwstruggle and blow my mind ,now i can't stop researching,my spouse is not a jw,and is very shock too.so i decided that i want to fade,i guess it won't be so hard since the sis and brothers did not had a close relationship with me.i have kids and i suffer from pts ,anxiety attacks,panick attacks and severe depression.i moved to the next town of my hall,so i have change hall too.i have not been to my new hall,and wanted to know,will the elders in my old hall contact the elders in my new hall just to see if i am attending?..

my spouse told me " i will tell them i am not letting you go" "and "i found out that your liars!
