Ouija Board - Does It Really Work?

A couple of months ago, I was in New Orleans with some friends. One of the friends brought along a Ouija board for fun, as we were "supposed" to be staying in a haunted bed and breakfast. Never having used one (believe it or not) I was curious. Late one night, when everyone else staying at the b&b was out in the French Quarter, we decided to hold a seance. The whole experience was weird and disturbing. There were three of us and the planchette moved all over the board, spelling out various things. I concentrated on the other two women's fingers to see if either one was directing the planchette. Like me, they could barely keep their fingers on it. We all felt as if we were keeping the planchette from flying off the board. Finally, when it spelled out "kill girl", we quit, all of us more than a little freaked out.
Since returning, all three of us have a quite a run of bad luck. We're wondering if we disturbed something. My husband keeps saying "I told you so" as he had a bad experience with a Ouija board when he was a teenager. He's never been a JW, quite a skeptic when it comes to the supernatural, so I have to believe him.
My 2 cents.

Do you still love your relatives/friends who shun you?
by HadEnuf inas i was participating in my daily duties of domestic slavery i got to ruminating about my mom, sister and brother who are shunning me (even though i am neither df'd of da'd).
i got to thinking to myself that i don't really miss them all that much.
in fact; i almost feel that i have lost the abundance of love that i once felt for them...well, except for my brother who i have never gotten along with anyway.

I have been shunned for the better part of 20 years. Not by my mother as much (my father was never a JW and died when I was a baby), but the rest of my relatives I was close to when I was growing up.
My grandmother died 3 years ago, although she had been inactive for several years (due to senility). After her death, I feel as if I have no family and try to make do with that.
Sad thing to pass on to my own children.

I had totally forgotten about the written reviews until this board. Remember how quiet the Hall was during them? I think I liked them better than the usual blather, but I was just a kid, so it didn't matter much.
I remember most the smell of the paper.

Worst Garage Sale Experiences
by Nosferatu ini remember the worst garage sale i ever went to.
i walked into the back yard, and i saw nothing outside, and the car was parked in the garage.
the man who was holding the yard sale asked "is there anything you're looking for?".

My husband and I had a garage sale in upstate New York back in 1997. We were getting ready to move to a warmer climate, so we were selling a lot of our winter stuff (not knowing we would be moving to Michigan a couple of years later). Same scenario as described in earlier posts, people getting there at the crack of dawn, people trying to get you to go down on everything, etc. The funniest thing that happened was that we closed the sale at around 4:00 and we were sitting in the dining room eating dinner. The garage door was about half-way down and we had pulled everything to the back. A car pulls up in the driveway and my husband was just getting ready to go out to tell this lady we were closed. He was just in time to see the lady duck underneath our garage door, steal a purse off one of the tables and run back to her car and drive off! We couldn't believe it! I would have just given it to her if she wanted it that bad!
We had another one last year and it wasn't as bad. People are just so GREEDY when it comes to these things! Do they think they're going to find some lost treasure that's worth a million dollars or WHAT? It's crazy.

demon possessed things
by free will inhas anyone ever possessed something that you'd swear had a demon attached to it?
we've all been told to watch out for things purchased at flea markets, garage sales.... but did something slip through the cracks and into your home?
my story goes like this: i live in a historic community my next door neighbor found a small grave in her backyard.

In the late 70's, there was a lot going around about "backward masking" on certain group's rock albums. Of course, just about every album I owned was now considered "demonized" and they all wound up in the dumpster. My mother made me throw them in, which was supposed to be some kind of spiritual cleansing for me. All I remember is looking at all my albums in the dumpster the next day and feeling sad. Of course, I have all of them on CD now!

NOTE On American No Call List
by Francois in.
i noticed someone here the other day making a discouraging remark about the subject no call list to the effect that it was a waste of time because advertising calls were still coming through.
i don't remember who was making these ill-informed remarks.. the american no call list does not go into effect until october 1, 2003. best to be fully informed before blasting a good idea out of the saddle.. frank

I did hear on the radio that if a company happens to get hold of your WORK phone number, the NO CALL list would not apply. The list only applies to your home number. I have a feeling that receptionists around the country are going to be answering a lot more phone calls after 10/1!
