De Niro is the equivalent of MSNBC.
Trump is the equivalent of Fox News.
They are both totally screwed up.

The West Palm Beach area is nice but if it were me, I would go an hour further north to the Stuart area. Still within easy driving distance to West Palm Beach or Ft. Lauderdale airports but less expensive and less traffic. Plenty of malls and stores. You will have a dozen or more big name golfers (including Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, etc.) as neighbors down the road in Jupiter.
My wife and I have Stuart as one of our places to retire to (or the Keys if we can afford it) when the time comes.

a precedent has been established .if it happened once it can happen again..
Full disclosure: I am still in.
But I never did understand why if you create something and it breaks, that you just keep making more and more.
Man sinned, or broke, the talking snake, Satan, whatever.
If you are on a production line, you stop the line and fix it, right?
What am I missing?

I have with the southeast is that stupid bible belt--at least Maine and Montana are not part of that abomination.
WTWizard ...
Just to correct a point, southeast Florida is as far away from the Bible Belt as you can believe. Northern Florida, possibly yes, but that is 400 to 500 miles from us down here in South Florida.
Yes, fire ants are bastards. Water moccasins? Well, you rarely see one (except my wife did have one in her office recently and they had to clear everyone out). Bees????? I have never seen those big hornets nests like I grew up with outside of NYC.
Yes, wages are a shit here compared to the cost of real estate. Just sooooooo much money comes here from Europe and especially South America as a "safe" place to invest. Similar to Manhattan.
But then, if you are offended by multi-culturalism, this is not the place to be. There is such an arrogant and IMO, an unnecessary disdain among the cultures.
Cubans don't like Puerto Ricans, Pervians don't like Equadorians, Chileans don't like Peruvians, Columbians don't like anybody. The list goes on and on. And nobody in South America likes anyone in Central America. They consider them shit.
I really don't get it. As an American, we make fun at times of the way the British and Australians talk, and how they drive on the wrong side of the road. But that's about it. Canadians are our neighbors and end every sentence with Ya' know?. It's fine with me. I like Tim Horton's when I have been there, probably 50 times or more. New Zealand also sounds like a beautiful place.
But, wow, latinos have this inherent thing about status. Don't argue with me, my wife is a latina from Columbia. I could mention almost every country in South America and she would have a comment (generally not good unless it is Argentina or Chile).
I guess us Gringos are more calm in that respect.

in the us there is a bill in the house of representatives to decriminalize prostitution.
what do you think about that?.
On a side note, my wife and I have been to Costa Rica a couple of times (where prostitution is legal) and when we are checking into a hotel, they have always looked at her and asked her "Are you with him?" and then ask to see her passport.
It really pisses Mrs. Rub a Dub (originally from Columbia) off when they ask her that.
I personally find it amusing.

Europe too cold? Ever been at Crete, Sevilla, Rome?

No, I have never been that far south in Italy or that part of the Mediterranean. But just looking at the average temperatures, wintertime can be less than 60 F (16 C) in the day and down below 50 F (10 C) at night.
We had a week or so of weather like that 7 or 8 years ago here in Miami and it killed my big palm tree in the front yard and there were fish dead everywhere in the bays.
I guess I just like it warm 24/7 365.
Some of my friends told me I will really miss the change of seasons if I came down here. In full disclosure, if I never saw another red or yellow leaf on a tree, I would never miss it. All that means is, get your rake out and spend the afternoon raking leaves. Then the wind blows at night and your lawn is covered by leaves again. Repeat the process. I don't miss it.

growing up in scotland in the 1970s in scotland the anointed were few and far between, but we had one old dude in our cong who claimed to be one of the anointed.
in the days when it was taken seriously.. i'd be curious how you viewed them.
thing is, he wasn't an elder, or even a ministerial servant, just a plain old publisher.. but he was revered like he had a hotline to jesus.. the other week i was talking to a friend of similar age to me but who hung around the wt a lot longer than i did, and he just commented "oh him... he was a doddery old fool who used to just sit and piss himself.
We actually had six when I was but a small boy. They were all in their 70's or 80's at the time. There were two couples, one old guy in bad health who we would only see at the memorial and a brother who partook but his wife didn't.
The sister was really a bitch. She did not treat him well even though he was an elder. The joke (and everyone in the congregation knew it) was that he wanted to partake and go to heaven to get away from her.
On the other hand, maybe it wasn't a joke.

It is just way too expensive to live here, at least from the housing side, due partly to the huge amount of foreign money that pours into here. Real estate is just ridiculous. And just for our homeowners insurance on a simple 3/2 home, we pay about 6,000 per year. It can easily be double that if you are very close to the water.

When you mentioned "in the world", I would rule out Europe (too cold for me) and Africa (haven't been to many places there but not where I would choose to go). Asia, maybe. Hong Kong was interesting before China took it back with the political crap.
Australia? Maybe. Never been there but it may be interesting but they drive on the "wrong" side of the road.
South America? Probably not.
Caribbean? Probably not. Either way too expensive or too much crime.
Costa Rica. Yes! Very stable politically, great food (especially seafood), excellent health care, relatively low prices, a huge number of Americans and Canadians there and overall a very nice place. Very good beer for about one dollar per liter (quart). The Caribbean side does have more crime than the Pacific side. There are some very, very beautiful areas there, especially on the Pacific side. A lot of English is spoken there with so many ex-pats.
Easy flights to the US from the capital San Jose to most major US cities.
The people are extremely friendly.
I would definitely consider living or retiring there.
