there are many good universities in the central part of the us but why do so many innovative things, i.e.
silicon valley, seem to happen on one side of the country or the other (california, new york, massachusetts to name a few)?
even what is considered the most high tech area in the center of the country, austin texas, is a huge liberal bastion.

because he voiced his opinion on roger stone’s recommended sentencing as being grossly unfair, the democrats are talking about impeachment.. do they really think that impeaching him will mean that a democrat will get into the white house??.

sides, if the popular vote was all that was necessary we'd have Hillary Clinton in the White House. Certainly you wouldn't want that.....no matter how much you hate The Orange One.

That's a tough question to answer. But in the end, I would take Hillary.
I never thought I would say that, but for me, Trump is an embarrassment as a person.
That question you asked is like getting an enema. Your two choices are either hot sauce or gravel.

What does.Liberal or conservative have to do with it?

Look at the map. The "coasts" tend to be liberal, that all I was saying.
If I was planning on doing a high tech company or pharmaceutical start-up, I would likely not pick a State in flyover country. There are of course many exceptions.
That's all.

Think of all of the innovations, especially technical and informational, that were conceived or inspired on schools on the "coasts."
Why does "thinking outside the box" seem to develop on the "coasts" ?

We have this thing in the US called the Electoral College. It dates back to the time when only land-owners could vote and giving sparsely populated States more rights.
Having land (flyover States) counts more than what the overall population votes for is just a throwback to a different time.
One's house with 50 acres in a rural State and two people count more than a city block with 250 people in a populated State when it comes to the Presidential election.
It's just the way it works.

i just had this flashback when commenting on another thread about how they used to announce reproof or dfing from the platform.
at least in our congregation, it was a dramatic event (this is what i can remember from back in the mid-late 60's or early 70's when i was a kid).. at the end of the service meeting, just before singing the final song, the brother would announce, "we have a letter that must be read.
the "congregation servant" (my grandfather or later my father) would then slowly walk from the back of the kh to the platform.
As the Public Talk and WT study was considered a public meeting, Df'ing and other private congregation announcements were normally reserved for the weeknight Service Meeting
Incognito ...
Yes, I never recall a DF or Probation/Reproof announcement on a Sunday, only the mid-week (Thursday night meeting). Mentioning that someone was doing, as Simon said, "sheep-shagging", at the Sunday public meeting would have brought reproach on the organization.

Most people already knew before the official letters were read what was going to happen. Elders wives or more often, family members of the people involved simply talked about it.
Regarding the "giant book bags have locks on them," I guess I was a bad teenager. I knew where my father kept the "good" stuff in his book bag and generally knew more about what was going on than most others in the congregation.

the watchtower has taught for over a century that plague is part of jesus’ sign letting earth know he’s lurkin’.... combined with the recent acceleration by the chinese gubmint of ejecting jws from china, it’s no surprise that dubs are of the belief that ‘jehovah is punishing china’.. dubs must be expecting a few large earthquakes to strike china in the next weeks with possibly a war or two, to round out the pain of jesus’ sign to these wicked jehovah haters..
He didn’t believe me. I would love to show him the studies.

I can remember when they used to re-instate people and the congregation would burst into spontaneous applause at the joy of it! ... The elders took a dim view ...
Number 6 ...
I can tell you exactly why that "policy" changed, from at least two elders in Bethel at the time.
It had to do particularly with people at the time who had committed adultery, remarried, and then later reinstated. It was felt, especially if the innocent person was at the KH, that it was disrespectful to have everyone clapping and hugging and kissing the person when the innocent person may be there watching. I guess watching perhaps two people who had committed adultery in the same congregation getting reinstated would be too much for some people to handle. I could understand that.
It could also have involved other sins in which an innocent person may be in attendance.
You can't pick one sin to clap for and one sin not to clap for so the "policy" was changed to tone down the welcome back to the Borg.
