  all of the stores around my area ran completely out of toilet paper this last weekend.

  people were piling it into their carts and vehicles as if they were going to be holed up for a year.

  Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Status Update Thread

  this topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.

  latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.

  the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

  and the worst is all the bars are closed so no one has a place to cry in their beer. I always feel a little humor keeps all from going nuts.

  Still Totally ADD ...

  For what it's worth, I have followed the government's recommendations on having at least a two week supply of basic goods.

  My wine rack is full, I have several liters of scotch and vodka, four cases of beer and plenty of chips and salsa. I have several racks of ribs in the freezer along with several pounds of shrimp along with a dozen boxes of Rice-a-Roni and plenty of toilet paper.

  I'm in this for the long haul. Cheers.

  Seriously, I am glad to keep this apolitical as the topic requests. I am glad that our Supreme Leader, Commander in Chief, or other respectful terms no longer considers this crisis as a hoax.

  It was actually very encouraging to hear him speak in a dignified and respectful manner and no name-calling.

  He just needs to get the virus testing kits available to anyone who needs them. I keep hearing repeatedly that South Korea tests 15,000 people every day and we (US) have only tested a total of 25,000 or so.

  I don't understand what South Korea has that we don't have.

  possible cancelling the memorial after years of experiences of bro/sis under nazi , communist oppression and many other countries still conducting the memorial under threat of death that the governing body is listening to the superior authorities regarding this virus pandemic.. could it be that after taking control of the k/halls that the branch/governing body would be responsible for any disobedience to the civil authorities and liable for any deaths.. they would have left upto the local body of elders and encouraged obedience to god rather than men and a lack of faith in jehovah to protect his people..

  From a friend at Bethel, they have created two emogies; one for the bread and one for the wine. To make it more efficient, there is a "Both" option so that you can do the bread and wine without having to navigate to different places.

  a while back, we had a saturday wedding reception for a brother and sister from our kingdom hall.

  the reception ended at midnight.

  most of us got home at around 1:00 a.m. our sunday public talk meeting started at 9:30 a.m. .

  Here in South Florida, there was a panic in our local grocery stores (especially Publix) here yesterday (Saturday). It was crazy. Today, I went to get some stuff for breakfast and things were stocked up (except toilet paper, paper towels and eggs).

  I guess everyone did their panic buying yesterday. Today, there were about 9 checkout lines open and 3 were empty. No waiting time!

  It all depends on how you dress.

  Getting from an A to a C would be no problem. Going from a C to an E or F would certainly draw some interest, or as we may say, "attention."

  But in most cases, if you don't flaunt it at the KH, I can't see how elders or anyone else can really have that much to say.

  If they call you into the back room and ask questions, just take your bra off, show them and wiggle a little bit. That will end any negative comments from the elders.

  What has been forged is not the content but the historicity as an object d'art, so to speak.
  It's like thinking you own a Dali painting - yet discovering what you possess is forged by another artist.

  I agree.

  But that "China" or "Made in China" sticker on the back of the scrolls raises some serious concerns regarding authenticity. Personally, if you peel the sticker off it may add more credibility to the underlying document.
