dear brothers, july 27, 2020. in 1919, the president of the watchtower society made a bold prediction, “millions now living will never die”.
that quotation was constantly repeated by the organization till the year 2000 when they realized that everyone in attendance at that assembly, who listened to j.r. rutherford repeat those words, are dead.. that teaching has guided my life.
statements were repeatedly made at assemblies, conventions and in print that there was no career in “this system of things” so you don’t need a job with benefits or retirement, your fulltime job is to “preach the good news”!
Since you intend to run as a candidate I would think the local Elders would be on the phone to the CO who would then be in contact with the Society.
There are certain situations that the Society will not touch with a ten foot poll.
@Giordano ......
You are 110% correct. If you are in the public arena, they want to stay as far away from the issue as possible. I would guess that if you are running for office, they would not want to make it an issue and just hope you quietly go away and not say anything. The last thing they want is to have you make it public that you are attempting to serve the public and then got kicked out of the Borg because you ran for public office. If you win, they will want to bury the issue even further. If anyone asks about your religion, just say Christian and leave it at that.
I know what many here are saying about it's better for a DA, but there is still a lot, IMO, to be said about letting them do what they want and not get involved in the game. The more public it gets, the more they want to keep it quiet and not "bring reproach on the organization".
i have no love loss for the gb or religion and this is not an apologist attempt.
in fact i hate the religion and the gb.
but i watch night after night young kids who's minds have been corrupted by the propaganda and dogma that modern college's are teaching them.
Universities are actually conglomerations of various schools and colleges.
@TD ...
You are correct. Technically, universities do not award degrees.
Depending on your major, you will be "attending" a university, but the specific college within the university awards the degree. You may go to the school of business, school of engineering, school of law, whatever. You may attend a university but you are awarded a degree by a college.

@James Jack ...
As many here have suggested over the years, if you want out, maybe it would it be better to just walk away?
If you go the DA route, as suggested, you are playing by their rules. If you walk away, you are the one in charge. It's of course, entirely up to you.
You will annoy them far more by walking away. When they make periodic calls or attempt to visit and ask you the question or two about do you still believe in the Organization or whatever, just say yes. When they ask how they can help you, just say you will give it some thought and come back next year and thank them for their time.
That will be more of an annoyance to them than sending any kind of letter where they can "write you off."
If when they ever chose to return, if you have a friend or neighbor, have them at your home when they come to visit. The whole tone will change. They will have wasted their time since they will not talk to you directly with someone else in the room. When they leave, thank them for visiting.
i have a niece who is trying to get pregnant.
she was telling me her husband had to go to a room with porn in it and masturbate into a cup to get tested.
i never thought of this before but but how would a jw handle this.
Maybe if you wack off looking at one of the pictures of life in paradise from one of the magazines it would be acceptable.

I really don't understand the "college" issue and the polluting of the students' minds. Conservatives and many religious organizations, including JW's, have a very negative view of a college degree.
I personally think that's stupid reasoning.
I graduated from a good State University in the Northeast USA, in a typically liberal State. Later got a Masters degree. I NEVER recalled ANY real political stuff or anything to attack my faith in the courses I took. NEVER.
IMO, it's all about which type of degree you choose and which elective courses you choose.
I don't understand if you stay on a math/science/business focus and choose electives that are politically neutral that you can somehow get affected by evil.
I think I took enough Math, Chemistry, Accounting, Finance and Engineering courses that there was not a lot of "crap" where personal opinion is involved. Of some of the required liberal arts electives needed, I generally included numerous language courses in Spanish and French. Maybe a couple of Psychology courses were as close to "liberal" as I ever got.
At the Masters level, there was virtually no option to take any liberal arts stuff when on a technical path. 10 courses needed, and they tell you basically what you have to take.
If this stuff pollutes your mind and destroys your faith, then, well, that's ones opinion.
On the other hand, get some liberal arts degree or go to some liberal arts college. Major in "Wonders of the World" or "Meaning of the Universe" or some other nonsense and all bets are off. You will end up with professors having long hair, wearing dark sunglasses, dressed like hippies, sitting on their desks with their legs crossed and looking at the ceiling when they talk.
It's your choice.
As an additional note, I had more liberal arts "opinion" classes in high school where there were more required courses than I ever had in college. In college, I had much more flexibility in what I chose to study.

That guy spent more time in front of a camera than most people have been alive.
Very likable, entertaining guy and considered a very nice man.
See you on the other side in the resurrection, in heaven, where ever.
RIP.
the sopranos was my number one show.
to me it was the best series ever.
for a good laugh, i still enjoy the beverly hillbillies reruns.
Twilight Zone was just a bit before my time but I do DVR a lot of the shows around certain holidays when they do the episodes non-stop over a weekend, like on the Sci-Fi channel.
I really enjoyed Rod Serling when I was older and he did Night Gallery. Then I found out he did Twilight Zone before that and began to watch the reruns.
Serling had a way of presenting things that weren't gory, not bloody, but possibly twisted / distorted / evil in its own way. At the end of the show, you didn't want to turn off a light in your room, hear a car drive by your house or answer a phone call.

Let me add to my list, Rocky and Bullwinkle (which included Sherman and Peabody).
i was six, not given any choice.
i remember being in the old kh, and my dad told me the brothers wanted to talk to me in the back...i was terrified.
i actually thought they knew i didn’t want to be a dub, my dad told them to just add me as a publisher, so no back room meeting.
