Interesting question.
I would have never thought of a way on my own to have the words "fashion" and "kingdom hall" in the same sentence.
Very clever.

what are some of the fashion trends you've seen or worn at the hall?
any interesting stories to share?.
some i remember off the top of my head are tie bars, tie clips, polyester suits, wide ties... we used to have brothers who would "compete" with designer cologne like polo, etc.. the memorial was always a fashion show.. yellowlab

personally i love thongs but only in summer or when i'm going out.
for my thunder i prefer the form fitting boxer style yummmmmy .
my son loves the boxer boxer he wears the form fitting boxer then the loose colorful one over those then his jeans <can you say over kill>.
I do colored briefs. My wife recently bought several pair of these things that look like a thong on the bottom but are wider on top. To me, they give the appearance of "old" style panties being pulled up really, really, high. They look to me like they are giving her a real weggie but she says they are comfortable. She gets them from Victorias Secret and they are lacy and stuff but to me odd looking. I like the look of her thongs personally.

when i was a kid, my grandfather used to go to the local radio station and do a radio show called "things people are thinking about.
" there were two characters, mr robbins and mr lee.

Does anyone here remember that show ? Was anyone here ever on the show ?

the feb. km has an article entitled: new arrangement for kingdom hall libraries.
no longer will the library be called the theocratic ministry school library.
now, it has been renamed the kingdom hall library.
In some ways I feel that the instructions are incomplete.
I see nothing about the order in which the books should be displayed. Perhaps, in alphabetical or chronological order. Maybe by color, all of the red books together, all of the blue books together, etc. Or possibly by size, all 192 page books together, etc.
Perhaps there will be a follow-up note on this in the announcement area of the KM or it will be transmitted verbally by the CO to the elders on his next visit.

i could spend many of your minutes describing how helpful this forum has been for me, suffice it to say that it's the way things should be...offer an idea and everybody else have opportunity to put it on the table too, pro or con.
my opinion is that jw's haven't realized (or have been denied) the benefits of such an appropriate arrangement that also provides the best method for discovery and growth.. my offering today is prompted by what i've found to be a recurring theme here...one that never fails to bother me.
as many witnesses "get out", too often (for me) they along with now rejecting the wts, reject many of the good things the wts tried, however horribly, to represent.
One of the most refreshing things for me is that when I'm now asked a Biblical question, I can actually take a moment, pause, and actually think about what is being asked instead of just "let me look that up in a bound volume so I can find out what I believe."

this is my first week here and am glad i have found a place to comfortably share thoughts and questions.
when doing research in the society's publications, i often come across the term "male member.".
i often get confused with the term and would like to know how others here understand the term.. as i see it, there are at least three distinct uses for the term:.
Nina
That would be a clever idea. That way, when reference is made to the "male member of the male member" we would would know exactly what was meant!

.
is there any common thread that connects jw's together because as far i can see jw's come from all types of families, backgrounds , races and such.. in my congregation there were many types of people, although there were quite a few dpressives and others with mild mental diseases.but there is nothing i find in common through jehovahs witnesses except their belief in that religion.there must be some common personnality types in the organistation, maybe a few dominant reoccouring ones, but i would need a bigger picture to see that i suppose.. what are your thoughts?
We have the unique ability to appear like we are walking at normal speed from door to door and yet barely getting anywhere. We knock on 5 or 6 doors in a block, find no one at home, and yet take an hour doing it.
In some ways the motion is similar to the Moon Walk thing that Michael Jackson did.
i would like to hear some of the strangest or most ridiculous thing you got in trouble with the elders for.
here is mine.. back in the early 70's i was married at the age of 18, typical witness thing to do.
my husband who was 6 years older than i ruled me like a overly strict father.
I was with three or four families that went out to a restaurant that featured a great all-you-can-eat type buffet. It was a very nice place about an hour from our home. During the meal, I was drinking what was probably my third beer when I went to the bathroom and was followed in by one of the elders. He proceeded to council me about becoming an alcoholic and why I liked to drink so much and on and on and on. I had received an earful from him but I just nodded and kept quiet.
He was known to eat alot and was overweight.
I was in his car on the way home and he had eaten so much he was having trouble breathing and stopped along the road and threw everything up. Then he was fine.
As long as I knew him after that he never mentioned my drinking again. How strange.
as many of you would know, the 2300 days of daniel in daniel chapter 8 verse 14 have been a significant prophetic period in watchtower history.
pastor russell held certain interpretations of them.
later abandoned.

You seem to miss the most important part of the Cedar Point convention. The HORN. That's where they blew the horn. If the brother hadn't blown the horn it would not be as memorable. Plus I think Cedar Point has one of the largest amusement parks in the country so it was probably a nice place to be afterwards. The kids probably liked it.
it was towards the end of 1998 that i believe there was a watchtower article on the prodigal son.. about that time, i handled a number of problematic judicial cases and got to wondering about the rightness of elders judging others.
before each case, elders are instructed to read certain chapters of the shepherding book, but my opinion was, they would be better re-reading the parable of the prodigal son.. lets look at some of the points from the parable and compare it with jw justice.. 1. the prodigal was never judged and condemned by his father immediately after leaving home.
there is no indication that he would have at anytime been shunned by his father and family.
Good point Somebody. It is incredible to think that a pedophile is treated and respected in the borg while someone who buys a lottery ticket every week or so can be DF'd.
And Room215, yes, the "knowing too much" about the Society is certainly a major part of it. It's ironic that for years we have been taught that one of the major reasons to believe in the Bible is that it is honest and shows both the good and bad of people, NOT like worldly sources that often only show one side of things.
They want us to know about every detail about God's people in biblical times, what they did, how they succeeded, how they failed. But when it comes to an analysis of God's people in modern times, it's so hush hush. If you know too much you are often viewed as a threat.
