Donating Blood a Disfellowshipping Offense?

are there any references to this in the jw publications, manuals, handbooks?.

I understand. You are correct.
I was just speaking from a practical standpoint. If you tell the elders you are donating whole blood for the purpose of transfusing it to someone it would typically be far different than if you explained you specified the blood to be fractioned into "allowable" fractions.
Just my thoughts but it would depend on the BOE and how you are viewed in the congregation.

Funny how these in it to the end Dems are dropping out, could this be why?
by JimmyYoung ini am wondering if the dems dropping out who were "in it to the end" are dropping out because of having to shake hands and go into crowds with the corona virus spreading.

A 60 year old WT article will not hold much weight, especially with all the changes in the blood doctrine in the past 20 years or so.
As I mentioned above, if you were seen by another JW and said you were donating it for other "allowable" purposes, you might get a slap on the hand, told not to do it again, but that would be it. Unless, of course, if you were on their radar for other things.

First of all, if you just did it, the odds would be very slim that anyone would even know. I doubt there are any JW's that work at a blood bank.
Second, if someone did see you, you could just say that you were giving it for one of the acceptable fractions such as for hemophilia or some other "acceptable" use.
The worse that would happen would be that they would tell you not to do it anymore since you may stumble someone.

latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.
the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

As has been mentioned on other threads, it's not the severity of the virus, but the method(s) of transmission. This is the biggest question out there: if you touch someone, breath their air, sit on their toilet, get in a bus with them, get in an airplane with them ???
With the flu, at least you have a reasonable chance of avoiding it with a flu shot.
With this shit, what do you even do? Hide in your house? Shut the windows? Take a Clorox shower?
At this point, who knows.

Down here in South Florida, there does not seem to be any panic yet.
I bought a couple boxes of the wipes yesterday and an extra bottle of Clorox at Walmart.
I also have 2 cases of Corona, a dozen limes, 2 cases of Leffe Blond and 2 1.75 litre bottles of Johnny Walker Black and a full wine rack.
I already have enough rice and beans for several months, a full freezer and about 30 rolls of toilet paper.
In an emergency, I have a huge 5 litre bottle of Tequila we bought at a duty-free store at the airport in Mexico City last year. We also have a small lime tree in our back yard.
We're good to go.
