  Organization's Viewpoint Changes

  did anyone ever question the terminology often used when there is an organizational change ?.

  they often will mention that "some brothers consciences have permitted them" to do this or that, thereby changing or relaxing the current viewpoint on an issue.

  i always wondered if some "had" actually done the thing prior to the article being published, wouldn't they have been df'd or da'd.

  is it just my distorted, critical reasoning and viewpoint on matters or has anyone here (i'm still new here) ever commented about why things appear so complex and complicated?

  i mean is it possible that a lot of the things we read in the bible should be taken at face value?

  of course there is a lot of symbolism in the bible.

  Flashbulbs

  can someone explain the paranoia that exists regarding flashbulbs at the assemblies ???.

  i mean, it's not like we have never seen them before and they would draw our attention away from something.

  if anything, when you see a lot of flashing lights, it draws attention to the person or event, not to the cameras.

  2003 International Convertion NEW Arrangement

  i have heard that there will be an announcement of a new arrangement for brothers to receive answers quickly to questions regarding the organization, doctrines or general issues.. instead of having to write a letter, mail it and wait for a response, there will be a new system that allows a person to call the society directly and get an answer over the phone.

  with all of the events currently in the news regarding the organization, i was told this was in response to complaints from both brothers and those sincere interested ones that the response time via regular mail is too long.. as i understand it, the system will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  all the caller will need to do is dial the special number (it will be listed in all publications and flash periodically at the bottom of the screen in all new videos) and be put directly in contact with a person to discuss the issue.. there will be various topic lines such as doctrines, general comments, the daily text, secret sins i am trying to overcome, etc.

  Animalistic Qualities of God

  is it just me, or did it ever bother anyone else about the treatment of the names of organized sports teams in the publications?

  especially in books dealing with revelation, they invariably make the point that sports teams are bad because they use names such as rams, cougars, panthers,etc.

  the implication is that they are thus acting like "animals" and thus debased.

  being new here i may be repeating an issue that has already been brought up but i was wondering ....... do you think that the person that invented the bobble-head dolls may have gotten the idea from viewing people at a circuit assembly ????.

  Mr Robbins and Mr Lee

  when i was a kid, my grandfather used to go to the local radio station and do a radio show called "things people are thinking about.

  " there were two characters, mr robbins and mr lee.

  mr robbins was the good guy if i recall.

  Newbie with Question RE: Male "Member"

  this is my first week here and am glad i have found a place to comfortably share thoughts and questions.

  when doing research in the society's publications, i often come across the term "male member.".

  i often get confused with the term and would like to know how others here understand the term.. as i see it, there are at least three distinct uses for the term:.

  HELP: I have the SAS Disease

  i have been diagnosed with a condition in which the contours of my butt have taken the shape of a stadium seat.

  it has historically flared up around assembly time.

  in the medical world it's known as sas or stadium ass syndrome.

  "New Things Learned"

  there always used to be a part when the co visited called "new things learned" in which we would get a list of things to study prior to the meeting.

  to me, the "new things" always seemed to be such basic things like showing love, being respectful, etc.

  if this information was so "new," i always thought that someone had been doing a very lousy job teaching.
