Goodmorning hopelesslystained and worf let me introduce you to the An ad hominem argument. consists of criticizing or attacking the person who proposed the argument (personal attack) in an attempt to discredit the argument. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem when you reply to our points without resorting to personal attacks you'll get better responses ____________________________ Oh, really, Renai? What makes you think anyone WANTS better responses? And I've noticed you do a little bit of the ad hominem thing yourself. My ex was from Yorkshire and he was a sanctimonious piece of work. Feel free to draw any conclusions you want, dear readers - or not. Makes no difference to me.

Don't lean upon your own understanding ...
by easyreader1970 inthe wbts keeps trying to cram proverbs 3:5,6 down the throats of its members lately.
i have no doubt that within the next couple of years it will be the year's text.
i noticed that in the september "public" watchtower, they equate higher education with the badness of illegal drugs, social websites, and fornication.

The meek little Ministerial Servant who goes off to college only to wind up as a gay porn star. The sweet little Pioneer sister who goes to college and ends up as a sex slave in the Hell's Angels. The chaste theocratic couple who go to college together and end up as cocaine using swingers in San Francisco. ******************** I KNEW I should have finished college.

For the converts: Do you ever feel your life has come full circle?
by truthseeker injust a thought for those of you who converted to jwdom.. now that you're out, or in the process of leaving, do you feel that your life has come more or less full circle?.
do you feel that you're back where you started?.

Oh, god, no. I'm so much more discerning now, so much wiser. Having rejected Catholocism (seeing the flaws even as a child), then understanding to apply the same criteria to the WTBTS and finally, to ALL religions, I am no longer obsessed with finding the "true religion". There isn't one. I am the best person I can be and no longer worry about being killed by Jehovah or going to hell...

Another reason the JW-style paradise won't be needed
by sir82 inhow does that kingdom malady go?
"...and the lame will leap just like the hart...?.
once again, the "wicked old world" is accomplishing what jesus, sitting invisibly on a throne and playing "world of warcraft" for going on a century, has not done:.

Renaia, then you need to feel sorry for those who are missing out on Jehovah's wonderful message of dying at Armedgeddon - er, I mean, message of hope - and go preach in the areas where the need is greater rather than wasting your time posting here.

Great Educational Tool for those studying or thinking of studying with JWS
by sf ini was doing some web surfing and catching up on my reading and came upon a post i hope may help some lurkers and seekers understand better what they are getting themselves into or may have already gotten into, by studying the bible with jws.. i surely hope it is not going against any rule to copy/paste this.
i will not include anything but the text.
i will say though that it is from a longstanding exjw support board that can be found here:.

In what way is SF not allowing persons to make up their own minds? Where's the gun he's holding to their heads? I'm not seeing it.

my only reason to shun someone would be as I said above if they made it clear they were trying to stumble me out of WTs too ----------------- Renaia, then you really shouldn't be here, should you?

what happens after Armageddon?
by cameo-d indidn't jesus say survivors would be "changed in the twinkling of an eye" ?.
didn't jesus say the dead would be resurrected first, before this change occurs?.
didn't jesus say he was going to prepare a place and we would be "taken" there to be with him?.

I no longer worry about Armegeddon and I try to live my life NOW to the fullest. If the creator is anything like Jehovah, I have no time for him anyway. Wouldn't want to live forever under a psychotic sociopath who changes his mind and kills even babies when he's pissed off.

I feel badly for the cashier. They have the most difficult job in any store - along with the customer service people. I am a retail manager and I enjoy it immensely. I find it challenging, frustrating, interesting, demanding. But my day is usually injected with humour - because many persons are just plain idiots and in retail, we see people at their worst and most demanding. One minute I'm working on a new display and the next, I have to deal with a customer riding around on the handicapped scooters, asking other customers for cigarettes and spitting on them for saying no. I help all sorts of persons, am heaped with praise on a daily basis from the gracious customers, and derided and despised by those to whom the answer is "no". I try never to say no, but sometimes, I have to. It's not all bad, trust me. If I had finished college, I'd be in radio right now, but this is OK too.

I was shunned and love-bombed yesterday!
by Tired of the Hypocrisy inimagine that!
i was walking downtown in the morning when i crossed paths with one of the sisters from the hall.
as i was walking toward the little cell phone shop she had just walked out of when she looked right at me and whirled on her heel 180 degrees and walked really fast to the bank.

I'll never forget the day I was working and one of the "sisters" (I was DFed for smoking) came upon me. She recoiled in horror - literally, I kid you not - and left the store so quickly I wanted to look for skid marks. I wonder what she had come in to purchase, because she sure as hell didn't leave with anything - thanks to THE EVIL DFed SMOKER.
