I see that laying down the 'evil slave' card can be a practical thing for the Governing Body to use one day, as part of a purge. However, I also think that its a one time use ploy. As the Brotherhood would get suspicious quite quickly, if the Governing Body just kept using it to get rid of guys that embarrassed them.

I think I know what the GB is doing
by HowTheBibleWasCreated inread:.
but if ever that evil slave says in his heart, ‘my master is delaying,’b 49 and he starts to beat his fellow slaves and to eat and drink with the confirmed drunkards.
hmm... let's see is anyone on the governing body a strict master and a drunkard?

What makes these videos obviously stupid, is the portrayal of worldly people as being either, a violent criminal or a sexual deviant, which even Witness teenagers know that this is not true, particularly at school.
You see, when I was in High School, the student body (like the broader community it represented) was stratified into different social groups. You had your sporting jocks, the trendy rich girls, the poor, the anti-social types (like today's Goths and Emos), the Greek kids, the Italians and the list went on ... none of which would be seen dead, in the company of the others. But what about the over-sexed students so often described in Watchtower productions? Well I'm sure they existed at my school, as they must have been in all others, but percentage wise (once you deducted everyone else), were not an large group by any means. And they (like everyone else) kept to themselves.
Personally for me as a Witness, high school was sort of ok. I was one of the library nerdy types and I had a couple of worldly friends, who like me, kept apart from the others in our own little corner playing chess during lunch.
But yes, it is true that more kids are having sex than in the past, but it's not as much as people think. In fact, most sociologists will tell you that, conservative moral values are once more on the rise in the West. Which deflates the whole narrative the Governing Body likes to push. That's why I feel quite confident in saying that 95% of high school students today are more worried about Friday's math test, than hooking up with Jodie or Brad after class.

Prediction: no more changes for a long while
by slimboyfat ini’ve noticed a pattern where things don’t go the way i expect them to go and/or whenever i realise there is a trend and, i mentally adjust for the idea that the trend will continue, the trend stops in its tracks.
so on that basis, and given many people, including myself, and active jws, have been asking ‘what changes will the governing body make next?’ perhaps the (disappointing) answer is: ‘nothing much for a while to come’.
maybe they’ve made the changes they want for now, and will wait a while and see how it’s received.

That might me true slimboyfat but I'd wager to say that those other churches are just maintaining buildings, Where as the Organization, now has a massive IT network to support plus their video production plans. And when the boomers die off, they will find themselves more financially squeezed than other faiths.

If it is the video part on the Service Meeting about premarital sex, then yeh ... it was quite sad. Its about the life experience of two youths in high school (a boy and a girl) and their efforts to resist the sex crazy students, they have to fight off every day. A classic line in the video was "...I have to run out of the classroom, just like Joseph did because of Potipha's wife ...". What more can I say.

I was meaning ...
If there is a 'plan' to just reform the Church enough evade some government legislation, ultimately the Faith will still collapse because as we know, more people are leaving (from one way or another) than coming in. However if the 'plan' is more than wallpaper and actually tries to address some of its serious weakness (of which there are many) then there is some hope that the religion might continue. Unfortunately, the window of opportunity is rapidly closing, as even now, most believers are already acting as PIMOs ... which I find rather funny.

While we are all hopeful of seeing more changes. For me, if one more set of changes is released, then the so-called '10 year plan' is a real thing. There might not be a literal 'plan', but it will show a deliberate move by the Governing Body to reshape the face of the Organization.
But, whether it will deep enough or quick enough to do any good ... is another thing entirely.

I was thinking of this very thing, when the topic of JW Lite started being discussed. And I thought that buried within our voluminous catechism of teachings, there lies perhaps only 10 core religious concepts and the rest (perhaps 100 or so) exist as behavioral rules.
Its much like trying to button down the Jewish belief system in Jesus' day. I doubt few ordinary Jews actually knew what they believed in much detail, but what they did know, was not the cross the laws of the Pharisees.

Just a random question?
by Riley incompletely unrelated to the wts.. i have a co worker who i use to hang out with his son in high school.
he doesn’t remember me.
that was 30 years ago.

Riley you could spend your whole life over-thinking things and end up doing nothing. Or you could take the risk and try to say something encouraging.
For me, I'd say something nice to let them know that their loved ones are still remembered.

Every older Witness knows that 'Studies' today are not at all like a 'Study' of the past. Now, a regular 5 minute chat is a 'Bible Study'. However their conversion rate into a Baptized Publisher, is minuscule when compared to ones of previous ages.
Which in many ways, is a direct result of the Governing Body's lower of the threshold of various spiritual activities and accomplishments. Clearly done to give good news of Kingdom growth, when in fact the Brotherhood was become more tired and less interested, as time has gone on.
Haven't we seen the same with the title of 'Auxiliary Pioneer'? Basically anyone with a heart beat, now qualifies. And of course, now we have the totally bogus tick box publisher reporting slip.

Disaster preparedness
by ElderBerry inas your family considers its disaster preparedness plan, please ensure that the secretary has up-to-date contact information for you and your emergency contact.
also, we have re- peatedly seen good results when brothers and sisters are prepared with go bags and are ready to obey direction when they face various kinds of disasters.
please be sure you have a go bag, and review its contents at least once a year.

Lets get some numbers down on paper, for some real life perspective.
- You can live least 2 weeks without food
- You can live 5 days without water
- You can live 2 days without proper shelter
- You can live ONLY 5 minutes with an arterial bleed
So you tell me where people's disaster preparedness so be?
