If it is the video part on the Service Meeting about premarital sex, then yeh ... it was quite sad. Its about the life experience of two youths in high school (a boy and a girl) and their efforts to resist the sex crazy students, they have to fight off every day. A classic line in the video was "...I have to run out of the classroom, just like Joseph did because of Potipha's wife ...". What more can I say.

Prediction: no more changes for a long while
by slimboyfat ini’ve noticed a pattern where things don’t go the way i expect them to go and/or whenever i realise there is a trend and, i mentally adjust for the idea that the trend will continue, the trend stops in its tracks.
so on that basis, and given many people, including myself, and active jws, have been asking ‘what changes will the governing body make next?’ perhaps the (disappointing) answer is: ‘nothing much for a while to come’.
maybe they’ve made the changes they want for now, and will wait a while and see how it’s received.

I was meaning ...
If there is a 'plan' to just reform the Church enough evade some government legislation, ultimately the Faith will still collapse because as we know, more people are leaving (from one way or another) than coming in. However if the 'plan' is more than wallpaper and actually tries to address some of its serious weakness (of which there are many) then there is some hope that the religion might continue. Unfortunately, the window of opportunity is rapidly closing, as even now, most believers are already acting as PIMOs ... which I find rather funny.

While we are all hopeful of seeing more changes. For me, if one more set of changes is released, then the so-called '10 year plan' is a real thing. There might not be a literal 'plan', but it will show a deliberate move by the Governing Body to reshape the face of the Organization.
But, whether it will deep enough or quick enough to do any good ... is another thing entirely.

I was thinking of this very thing, when the topic of JW Lite started being discussed. And I thought that buried within our voluminous catechism of teachings, there lies perhaps only 10 core religious concepts and the rest (perhaps 100 or so) exist as behavioral rules.
Its much like trying to button down the Jewish belief system in Jesus' day. I doubt few ordinary Jews actually knew what they believed in much detail, but what they did know, was not the cross the laws of the Pharisees.

Just a random question?

Riley you could spend your whole life over-thinking things and end up doing nothing. Or you could take the risk and try to say something encouraging.
For me, I'd say something nice to let them know that their loved ones are still remembered.

Every older Witness knows that 'Studies' today are not at all like a 'Study' of the past. Now, a regular 5 minute chat is a 'Bible Study'. However their conversion rate into a Baptized Publisher, is minuscule when compared to ones of previous ages.
Which in many ways, is a direct result of the Governing Body's lower of the threshold of various spiritual activities and accomplishments. Clearly done to give good news of Kingdom growth, when in fact the Brotherhood was become more tired and less interested, as time has gone on.
Haven't we seen the same with the title of 'Auxiliary Pioneer'? Basically anyone with a heart beat, now qualifies. And of course, now we have the totally bogus tick box publisher reporting slip.

Disaster preparedness
by ElderBerry inas your family considers its disaster preparedness plan, please ensure that the secretary has up-to-date contact information for you and your emergency contact.
also, we have re- peatedly seen good results when brothers and sisters are prepared with go bags and are ready to obey direction when they face various kinds of disasters.
please be sure you have a go bag, and review its contents at least once a year.

Lets get some numbers down on paper, for some real life perspective.
- You can live least 2 weeks without food
- You can live 5 days without water
- You can live 2 days without proper shelter
- You can live ONLY 5 minutes with an arterial bleed
So you tell me where people's disaster preparedness so be?

With respect Mikejw,
If Witnesses from outside of a disaster area can get in, so can local government agencies and NGOs who have a lot more resources to distribute. And quite frankly, the Witnesses so called relief programs are centered around rebuilding their own Kingdom Halls as their prime mission, not relieving the physical suffering of people.
But this is the thing that really gets me.
Any help offered by the 'disaster relieve committees' goes to congregational members, yet Jesus (the person who's example the Governing Body is suppose to copy) didn't first check people's religious standings before he cured them. And in our Lord's parable of the 'good Samaritan', the Samaritan didn't precondition his help either.

Prediction: I think the Blood Policy is about to change.
by underground ini’d like to start out by saying this is my opinion.. i believe that the organisation is about to make blood transfusions in any form a conscience matter.. they will still ban the eating of blood.. they will gaslight everyone by talking about how it is so much safer now.
and will say something along the lines of how our stance protected us from the aids crisis etc.. and i believe this change is going to happen before the annual meeting 2024.. i think the annual meeting will announce they are scrapping the midweek meeting and instead we get to watch a streamed talk at home through a revamped website similar to the way netflix works.. obviously take my opinion with a hefty pinch of salt..

While have a 'go-bag' is good idea (something that few witnesses really understand how to make an effective one, or know the skill-sets required to survive a local natural disaster), I have always been rather cynical about the Governing Body's push to have them. This is because I believe that this whole 'disaster, go-bag and relief committee' thing is to increase the Brotherhood's fear of the future, while making them mentally more dependent in the Organization.
However, as anyone who have had studied EMT healthcare or even deeply read into the events after cyclone Katrina, the Haiti earthquake or the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, in a real emergency you will on your own for three to four WEEKS before there is any outside assistance start to trickle in. Proving a silly two day backpack with a couple of cans of beans, is not going to get you very far.
Like many things the Governing Body says and 'arranges' ... its not going to you any good, when half of your family are pissing blood like sprinklers, while you're are waiting for the Bookstudy conductor's f****'n phone call.
(sorry for the language)
