Well, my daughter decided to write they letter. The foundation for this letter can be found in my previous thread a couple of days ago which can be found at http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.aspx?id=44457&site=3.
She wrote her heart and gave them some good counsel. She was generous and kind in her comments, yet concise and to the point. She answers to her creator, not men. I found out that the elders also asked her grandmother and mother about her sexual conduct before asking her. I find this extremely insulting to say the least! Her letter to them follows.................
To whom it May Concern:
When my ex husband and I both signed our decree of divorce (see attached
decree) we stated that we were no longer involved with each other and had no
legal ties to one another. I hold no grudges towards him and only wish him
the best. However, I will not admit to "living in sin" for the sake of his
re-marriage. When he made the decision to get baptized last year and
dedicate himself to Jehovah he did not need my permission then, nor does he
need it now. Please refer to Acts 2:38 which states, "Repent, and let each
one of you get baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for forgiveness of your
sins". This statement was said to the Jews after involvement with the death
of Christ. This was to show evidence that they were putting their faith in
Christ, and by doing this their sins could be forgiven. So, I am unclear as
to why you are requesting a letter from me (or my family) giving him
permission to remarry when he has already, "washed away his sins" by
baptism.
I would also like to add that because of your request for this letter one
can only think that there has been a fair share of gossip spoken in my name.
Proverbs 16:27 states, " A good for nothing man is digging up what is bad,
and upon his lips there is, as it were, a scorching fire". I am disappointed
that there are those who feel the need to continue to talk 6 years following
our separation. In Proverbs 6:16 it also states, "there are six things
Jehovah does hate... a false tongue... [and].. a false witness that launches
forth lies..." are two that come to mind. I do not and will not accept
accusation from those who are assuming false hood in my name.
My grandfather, who I know you all knew very well, was an elder in the
congregation for over 35 years. He shared his knowledge with me in order
that I may become enlightened by the words of Jehovah spoken through his
disciples. I apply those words that were instilled in me to my life to this
day. I do not feel the need to share my private life with those who are
acting in, "The name of God". Jehovah himself knows my actions and he alone
will judge me, "because his judgements are true and righteous... (Revelation
19:2). And, when Judgement day arrives I will have the opportunity of
pouring out my souls because as 1st John 4:17 says, "That we may have
freeness of speech in the day of judgement...". In the future, I can only
advise you to go directly to the source when questioning an individual about
an accusation rather than asking those around you. Remember 1st Timothy 5:19
states, "Do not make accusation against an older man, expect only on the
evidence of two or three witnesses".
He is free to do as he wills but, will not defame my name in the progress.(Signed)

Elders want letter from my daughter!
by reubenfine inbackground: my unbaptized daughter married an unbaptized young man when they were both 18 years old.
it didn't work out and 2 years later they divorced.. now it's 6 years later, (after the divorce), and my daughter never got baptized.
her ex-husband did and is engaged to another dub.

Thanks again for all the input. I see no need to help them (dubs) out of their own dilema. This whole situation is such a farce and so typical of their cult mentality. And to think I bought into this crap for the better part of 40 years! I remember how it galled me so much for my younger daughter to have to be "approved" to be a publisher. Since when do men need to approve a person to preach the word?? I didn't even want to go thru with it by my wife did. I felt like vomiting in the little back room when the elder met with us and my young daughter, maybe 10 years old. Well, that's off the subject but just another instance of cult mentallity.
At least it's a nice "witness" to her fiance who she lives with now, a really great guy who I'll be proud to have as a son-in-law. The whole thing is funny but sickening at the same time. At least they have no power over us now so the laugh is on them.
TV sitcom of the JW dating game? Hilarious!

AWAKE Says We Shouldn't Judge Apostates!
by minimus inthe february 8, 2003 awake has an article entitled:"is there an unforgivable sin".notice the good news for apostates or those who once associated.
"some people who were once faithful christians have purposely drawn away from god, perhaps because of bitterness, pride, or greed, and are now apostate fighters against god's spirit.
they willfully oppose what the spirit is clearly accomplishing.

Gee, it's nice how they say they have "purposely drawn away from God." I PURPOSELY drew away from a cult! Nice how they twist everything!

Good stuff. I should say that I drifted away about 7 years ago. She's in another State, California, (I'm in Arizona as is her ex), and in a gated community, so I guess she could let them in if they came over but act like she doesn't know what it's about, then call the cops. That would be a good one!
Her ex is a nice kid and they are on good terms, so that might have a bearing on what she does.

Background: My unbaptized daughter married an unbaptized young man when they were both 18 years old. It didn't work out and 2 years later they divorced.
Now it's 6 years later, (after the divorce), and my daughter never got baptized. Her ex-husband did and is engaged to another dub. The elders told him they wanted my daughter to write a letter acknowledging she is now living in sin. (Has for 5 years with NO elder visits, OF COURSE!) How insulting to everyone involved. I suggested just ignoring it to piss them off, and she wants to write back and tell them to go to hell. I also suggested writing, "I heard you were concerned about me. It's nice to know you care. Goodbye....." or something to that effect. LOL
I told her I would ask for other suggestions and let her know. Some of you are way more creative than I am!
