The Jews were a fast growing religion in their day. Until the Roman Army came. Historians wrote that 'they were slaughtered like cattle'.

District Convention 2012
by apocalypse inhave anyone of you out there been so bold as to voice a concern, and voice it so well that it got back to the circuit overseer, then the do, then back to the branch and end up becoming something that had to be mentioned at the district convention?.
in summary of the watchtower at the dc, i recorded elder g. saying "the clear direction that that would be both when we have to agree with their direction and even if we do not fully agree" in relation to 'fully supporting jehovah's arrangement of things'.. of course he was speaking out both sides of his mouth.
how can one agree without agreeing?

No GB where I went. But Ken Little of Canadian Branch Office gave the talk. He went on and on. Funny how, the higher up they get in the BORG, the longer they talk. I guess they figure their elevated position puts them beyong the rules they make for the good-for-nothing-slave class. I think he forgot he too is part of the GFNSC.
He went on and on... and on...
I recall some trigger phrases. When he got to the part of the talk I have lovingly termed "the talk down" or "the speak", he used the phrases "know your place" and "you will suffer" in order to dissuade sippin' and slurpin' the goods.
This part of the talk usually makes up the majority of the babble. He mentioned almost 12,000 now partaking. Many commented after ..."wasn't that number supposed to come down?" You know, as we get 'closer to the end'... I don't think they remember the articles a few years back that did away with that 'shrinking number-closer end' crap. And it seems that good ol' Washtower realizes how ineffective those articles proved to be in killing the idea.
If you don't just come on out and say it plainly and bluntly, the dubs don't get it. Too bad Washtower could not have said "we were wrong and the dwindling number of partakers is NOT indicitive of the nearness of the end". Too bad Washtower. Enjoy the fallout.

What really ended the book study in private homes?
by Alfred init's been over 3 years since the book study in private homes was discontinued and some jws are still scratching their heads over it.
although a letter was read to all congregations explaining that "book study night" would now be "family worship night", there was still much speculation among jws as to the real reason behind this decision (the great tribulation was about to start, jehovah was simplifying the lives of jws, to lessen the burden of poor jws who had no money for gas, etc.)...
but as we all know, decisions like these from the gb invariably have some ulterior motive behind it... and discussion boards such as this one usually finds a way to dig up the truth for all to see... but after reading several threads on this subject, i'm really not sure we've uncovered all the facts yet.... so i have to ask... what do you believe really ended the book study in private homes?

apocalypse
I would be really interested in hearing a recording of the GB meeting where it was decided. But alas...! None such exist.
I could speculate though.
I know of a case in Amherstburg Ontario where someone fell down the stairs at a book study. Or is that balk study...
Anyway, it was a sh*t storm. Talk about causing division. The homeboy encouraged the visitor to sue him, otherwise, how do you get the insurance to pay out? So, visitor gets a lawyer. Lawyer sees dollar signs. The rest is history.
But there's still a better reason. Resources....
Dubs have a limited amount of loot, and guvernin' buddy-boy wants to get it all. When I was young, there used to be a contribution box at the book study home. And people put in loot. The conductor did the collectin'... Made out a reciept and took the loot. The loot went to the Society.
I remember thinking (when I was young) , hey, that's great! Some money for the poor brother whose house were wrecking with our traffic.
Ahhh to be young and green again. Well, we know where the loot went now don't we?
In any case, the Watchtower Society was not getting any loot from the book study. The practice of collection at the book study kinda fell away. So, the book study was no longer profitable for GBoys. Only a drain on resources. All expenses, no revenue.
I submit that the real reason the book study was ended, after all the years of talking about how damned allMighty important and "vital" it was, is simply that it was not generating revenue.

I wasn't in the room for the whole rag, but I still heard enough crap.
If some of the dubs were to take out a whip and start to flail themselves right there in the hall, I wouldn't have been surprised. "Look at me governin bod... I luv's ya" Beat me some more, more, more.

Actually, most everything in the Sept. 15, 2011 rag is offensive. But particularily the points that will cause extreme hardship in the lives of witlesses. The first part of today's article "Are You Letting Jehovah Be Your Share" (page 11), finds the "annointed" (a.k.a. gurvernin' buddy) boasting in themselves. Bad, but we have come to expect that from these arrogant, self-centered, egotistical, nacisistic, meglomaniacs .
What's offensive is what's found for example, in par. 4, where, after the GB has self-boasted, they hammer dubs who are sickly and can't perform to their required standard. "Yet, they (GB) do not use any limitations as an excuse to do only a small amount in God's service". Yes, wheelchair bound quads, pack a full days box of oxygen bottles on the back of your chair, put on a diaper and go pound the pavement. Git' on naw, ya hear!
But that's still not the worst. Paragraph 6, under the header "Seeking First the Kindom" says, ..."With no regard for their Creator, many devote themselves to making a comfortable living, raising a family, and leaving behind an inheritance." That's offensive, considering recently Watchtower tried to sue Fifth Third Bank because they were pissed at the bank, why? Because the damned Watchtower was trying to get at the 'inheritance' left behind by a Dub, and they were unsucessful. The family got the $100g's in the account! Evil family!
The above is also extremly offensive because Dubs are being pushed to quit their jobs and go on to experience hardship, 'trusting in God'. "Well, Jean-Claude realized that if he lost his job, God would look after him....Jehovah would help care for his family's material needs."
On top of that, paragraph 11 says "...working for a nonnuetral organization and was determined to put first God's righteousness." So, what... when the damned GB joined the evil United Nations, where was 'God's righteousness' then? (insert expletive)
The worst though is paragraph 15... "When spiritual light on some matter gets brighter, do you try to understand the underlying Scriptural reasons for the adjustment?"
Read the June 15, 2000 Questions from readers "Do Jehovah’sWitnessesacceptanymedicalproductsderivedfrom
blood?"
You can look for one scriture, not two, not three, just one, that is used to support the change in doctrine allowing blood fractions, and you won't find it! In the rhetoric before the change, yes. In some blather after, yes. But in the contect of the change itself, it' all medical jargon, and 'new medical techniques'. So how the hell is one to "understand the underlying Scriptural reasons" when none, NONE are given?????
Dubs, all you need to know. (1) Quit your job. (2) Suffer. (3) Give your wealth to Watchtower. (4) Suffer some more. (5) Preach till you bleed. (6) DIE!
And your Gods in New York will be simply euphoric!

New Year's Eve makes me think. Soon, in 2014 it will be the 1st Kingdom Centennial

Well, I am not quite THAT brazen, but I do throw it out there. I usually follow it up with "I wonder when we will celebrate it, on new year's day or in October... say October 1 2014..(ponder ponder)
It really disturbs a JW to think in these terms. I also mention that the Society ... by buying this new LARGE printing press and placing it in Canada where all the literature will be printed "for the next two decades".... "positions it well for printing for the next generation.
It raises a few eyebrows.
It's like shoving a dirty stick in their eye. And there's nothing that can be said to me by them or the red-faced elders who may drag me into the elder's room (and I have been there a few times)
On that note, I bid you all a Happy New Year.

Zone Overseer to visit Canada

do you think that he's coming because he found out that some of our youth are attending university, and he's coming to kick our canadian butts?

We are going. Not that I want to sit there and hear more GB blather, but I figure that they have a motive and it revolves around deniability.
In the past, they printed a bunch of rubbish in the watchtower rag. Now those words are biting them in the ass.
The Jews had their written law, and an oral law. Whenever the written didn't do the trick, they pulled the oral out of the bag to get what they wanted.
All doomsday cults use date setting as a motivator and among that group the watchtower reigns supreme. Yet, if they print a specific date or even infer one, then the hourglass sands start to slip along to the day of rekoning.
Since the watchtower dictators hace passed the edict that one brother from each hall should "take very good notes" to share with the congregation at large -at a later date-, then they intend for the masses to get the message.
Ahh... but that message will be pre-digested before it hits their stomaches. The elders and their WIVES(and we know how good they keep secrets) will have the opportunity to spread abroad the message having the desired effect long before that.
The meat will have been on the street and they can say "we never said that" down the road.... and still enjoy now the full rewards of date setting. The rank & file will scurry about preparing their publisher record cards for the day Christ returns again-again to see who's been naughty or nice. (Jesus comes down the chimney ...right?)
The org will get bigger and bigger and BIGGER. The GB's ego's will inflate like a zepplin and they "will be like god".
Anyways, I will record the whole damned thing and put it up on the web if it has any worth points. If it is just another boring blah blah blah, then I will get some shuteye.
