portions are way too big.

would you agree with me that portions that we eat are too big?

today on the news, they said that 1 canadian out of 3 is overweight.

JH . . . . I had to laugh when I read your post! I have been saying that for years . . . about the portions being waaaay tooooo large in restaurants. After all . . . How's a gal to keep her youthful figure . . . and eat all what they put in front of ya!! Well, I figure they gotta justify those high prices . . . . so they slap an extra bit of this and an extra bit of that and supersize it, or whatever! It's a marketing strategy. . .

Now, I don't care anymore how much they wanna feed me . . . I figure I just don't have to eat it all! I take doggy bags home from a restaurant now . . . and make two or three meals outta it!! I feel real pleeeezed about that, thinking I'm getting a lot of value for my money now. . .two or three meals later!!! LOL!!

It seems that these were posted here before I became a registed member! . . . I am so glad I did some digging!! I feel so proud of all the lambs . . . and all of their supporters here on the forum! I do have a personal interest in the abuse cases. While I was not abused by jws . . . I was nevertheless abused . . . by unbelieving(TM) family members. I know how degrading it felt for me, and I know how helpless I felt to do anything about it when I was a child. When victims come from a place of strength, as the Silent Lambs are doing, they are really able to take charge of their life, and that is so healthy! I really admire the Silent Lambs for their stand against the abuse. Their childhoods were stolen from them and they truly deserve to claim their lives back. Know that my heart goes out to all the lambs . . . and know that you are so beloved. Esther

they love the care bears.

so, we are watching care bears , the first movie, and i am totally in shock that the carebears are a version of god and angels living in heaven( live in care a lot) and they rescue people from wicked spirit forces.

as of 6:02 pm last night i received a facsimile from paul hoeffel at the un on the wts.. he gave me 3 of the 4 things i requested in two paragraphs.. i have sent a scanned version to steve bates and someone else.. i sent it to kent and randy.

and kent and randy have posted the official united nations letter on their web sites.. here is the letter - put your cursor on the image and then right click on your mouse and hit "save image" to your computer.. .

after you look at kent's web site and you people still think this it is a fake letter, phone paul hoeffel yourself at (212) 963-8070.. hawk

I read all the info on the freeminds website . . .Quite an eye opener!

Truly unbelievable! This is what I got out of the information, in a nutshell. . .

Did the WTS really think no one would find out about their affiliation with the UN?

Did the WTS legal department never have a look at the UN application . . being that the UN is the so-called dangerous "wild beast(TM)" and all? (not to mention the world's sharpest legal minds drenched in the holy spirit(TM) . . . you'd think they would have caught it!!!!!)

And . . . after the letter of "explanation" to the branches . . .<I'm getting a visual of all the milk-lapping and head nodding of all the loyal dubbies> Uh huh. . ."access to research material related to health, ecological and social problems" . . . all Theocratically(TM) explained away. . .It seems the WTS neglected to say no such membership was needed to have access to this aforementioned "research material(TM)" . . .

Newbie with Question RE: Male "Member"

when doing research in the society's publications, i often come across the term "male member.".

i often get confused with the term and would like to know how others here understand the term.. as i see it, there are at least three distinct uses for the term:.

vancouver bc - backround info

i am hoping someone out there maybe from the vancouver area and help me out......i am looking for some background info.

during the late 70's and 80's, i was still quite young and all the bad or nasty stuff was hidden from young ears.

i do remember though catching wind of certain scandals and mass disfellowshippings etc.....but the details were hidden from children and quietly whispered about by the adults.

James Penton lived in Lethbridge, Alberta. . . I was still a loyal dub in the late 80's early 90's and living there in Lethbridge at the time. He was known to the dubs as an "Apostate" with a Capital "A". He had a following in Lethbridge and when jws called, they were often slammed because of the "Penton" scandal. I was given a "talkin' to" at one door I called on. JWs were kinda disturbed by him. . .hehehe!

ELDERS SCARE TACTICS DISS FELLOWSHIPING

being reasanable to assume that,they are promoting fear within the congregations,keeping others from asking awkward questions,it seems that no one is interested in the reasons why that other person was named and shamed,what a way to control people , one minute they are your best friends the next minute you bump into them say in the high street and you dont seem to exist within there boundarys or vision ,.

my remedy .if you are in this position is to greet them very loudly laughingly saying hallo there ,big wave big smile,be carfull of those paedophiles your mixing with.

( nice & loud ) next time they see you they will run to the otherside of the road,instead of trying to intimidate you.

Thanks for sharing the painful saga . . . I'm sooooooo sorry . . . this story sounds just awful!!! . . . How abusive!!

Seems to me like when the elders feel they are losing control of "their flock", they think they must resort to threats, as reinforcement. The elders can't lighten up, they are afraid of THEIR position! An organization with "feet of clay"!

Maybe it is the best thing for your son to see this behaviour from his so-called superiors. It may help him to see the truth about the Truth(TM).
