  okay, just to re-introduce myself, i was raised in the truth, regular pioneered for years, and am a member in good standing with my congregation.

  i have just recently been shocked to realise that i actually have some doubts about the truth.

  it helps for me to focus on one point at a time, and to write down my thoughts in a logical sequence.

  Welcome to the forum. Great starting point --- getting a dialogue going.

  Please go talk to your family doctor about getting some therapy. It is plain for me to see you are an abused woman. I recognize the signs because I have been there, and spent more than ten years in therapy to get out of a co-dependant relationship that had been ripping my heart apart.

  It is not selfish to take care of your SELF. You deserve to be happy. Give yourself that chance. That's my best advice.

  Once I read "Crisis of Conscience" I could never go back. It was just too much of an eye-opener for me. If your lady would be willing to read that book, who knows? That book changed my life forever.It is a book you may wish to read for yourself, Mr. Hardcore Evangelical Intellectual.

  For Christians...Is It Just Me or Am I Losing My Mind

  i just ended a three week sabbatical from attending my usual christian fellowship.

  going back last night, i was struck by just how superficial and shallow the worship service was.

  it was almost as if the worship leader was trying to manufacture joy in the believers.

  My understanding of this scripture (in context) is not quite as literal as the jws would have us believe. I have happily moved away from their teaching of the scriptures. My belief now --- on this scriptural thought --- is that when people "speak in tongues" it doesn't matter what language is heard by the ears, because the words are understood at the soul level. I have personally sat in on prayers, etc. that were spoken in a foreign language, and I felt they soothed me --- at a very deep level. That's why I now believe it is the soul that understands. I feel the Holy Spirit has the power to make that connection between language barriers.

  i just came across this comment by someone from a group i belong to .

  we just had the visit of our co...his wife made this comment to me:.

  "'as i was reading the very powerful articles in the last public issue of the wt with study articles...i couldn't help but imagine that the brothers are waving a goodbye to people!'...

  Speaking of mind control . . . FEAR is a paralyzer. Any religion that teaches fear is a mind control religion. Any religion that says they have an exclusive link to God is teaching fear and control. Judge for yourself who this applies to.

  Am I the only one that is turned off by this "happy clappy" worship, or is this something that you have experienced too?

  I feel the same.

  I think it doesn't hurt to "church shop" until you find one (or even a few) that "feel(s) right" for you. My theory is that churches are in a state of evolution. However, some churches, it seems, want to hang on to the "old". Resistant to change --- and all that. Change, to me, represents growth, and is therefore healthy and inevitable.

  I've done some church shopping. Right now NO church feels right and I've been going for a walk in nature, instead. I feel I can connect with my spirituality anywhere, and that does feel nice.

  an interesting experience

  over the last 7 years i have been helping a young man who is now 16 and whose mom is a witness.

  his mom has three children all different fathers the young man i have been helping had a father in prison and 6 months after he was released he was shot and killed so my young man has never really had a father.

  since i have stopped going to meetings about a year ago his fat ass mother who is basically worthless has resisted my help to her son.

  Maybe "mom" is scared that her son will be a success.Especially if she is co-dependent with her son.By threatening him, she is revealing her worst fear --- namely, that he might leave her.

  Like carla said, maybe she will be to lazy to carry out her threat.
