Retractions in the Watchtower
by Elsewhere in.
every magazine, newspaper or other periodical i have ever read would from time to time print a retraction to correct mistakes in past articles.
any reputable publishing house does this.. has anyone ever seen a retraction printed in the watchtower, awake, or any other wts publication?.

Still waiting ... since 1975 !
by Amazing inwhat have i done with my life since 1975?
became a jw in the late 1960s ... looked forward to 1975 as early as 1968 ... so, out of a sense of duty and spirit inspired organizational hounding ... when 1974 arrived, i sold the house, sold the car, sold the wife and kids ... then moved to where the great are needed ... 1975 came and went ... .
so did ... 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992 walk away from the organization ... 1993, 1994 then it was 80 years of a special mighty generation since 1914 ... finally, 20 years later it was 1995 when i was forcibly disassociated by wts legal department ... 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000 ... yikes!

53 y 8 m2 Peter 3:3,4... For YOU know this first, that in the last days there will come ridiculers with their ridicule, proceeding according to their own desires and saying: "Where is this promised presence of his? Why, from the day our forefathers fell asleep [in death], all things are continuing exactly as from creation’s beginning." "This would mean that anyone calling the end-times concepts of these sources into question is automatically classed among ungodly ones. Is this a fair and honest use of the text? Are the "ridiculers" described by the apostle Peter persons who firmly believe (as do we, the authors) that 'jehovah's day will indeed comes as a thief' and spell destruction to ungodly men and an evil system of things? Certainly not. As the context shows, the apostle rather describes persons who have utterly ceased to believe in the eventual--and certain--arrival of that day of divine judgement, 'persons who question that it will ever come'. "Sign of the Last Days" C.O . Jonsson-W. Herbst. "when the leaders of the Watch Tower movement for about 55 years (1876-1931) persistently taught that Christ had arrived invisiblly in 1874, were thay setting an example of'waiting upon Jehovah"? When they taught that the 'remnant ' of Christ's church would be changed (1 Thessalonians 4:17), first in 1878, then in 1881, then in 1914, then in 1915, then in 1918, and then again in 1925, did they 'wait upon Jehovah'? When they taught that the end of the present system of things would come in 1914, then in 1918-20, then in 1925, then about 1941-42, and then again about 1975, were they 'waiting upon Jenovah'? The Watch tower, Fevruary 1, 1916, p. 38; September 1, 1916 ,pp.264,265; July 1, 1920, p. 203. "The Gentile Times Reconsidered" C.O. Jonsson. A picture is really worth a thousand words
by observador inmany people here have described how interesting this summer's conventions were.
well, i got this picture - which requires no explanation - from a faithful to the letter jdub but apparently with a good sense of humor.
now, if this picture made its way to an watchtower magazine, what would the caption be?

Pathetic. An apologist for 1975. Cult-induced behavior. I remember being so immersed like this. I was oblivious to the outside and no one could reveal the obvious. How can you reason with someone like this?

How many of you went to the elders when you / someone did something wrong ?
by run dont walk ini've read a lot of threads of late, where people stated when they did something wrong they would go the elders the next day and confess.. i find this truly bizzare !!!.
okay, maybe i didn't have a conscience as a jw, i did alot of things wrong, but, that would be the f--kin' day i would go to the elders and confess anything.
i would never tell those old goots anything, because then they would have something to hang over you for a long time.

Yeah, I sent my teenage daughter in to them. Afterall, if you don't confess, you are sharing in the sins of others. So she told the elders about a minor thing. She was disciplined, the involved others denied it all including an elder's daughter. The result was she was the only one punished and half the kids shunned her for ratting them out. That was rough for a while but at least our prayers wouldn't be hindered and our service blessed. More service is what was going to heal my daughter so that's what we did. Well, maybe I'm not being blessed with a Bible study from constant efforts in the field. Let's see, is there anything I personally am holding back from the elders? How about the oral sex with my wife for the past ten years or so? My wife is about to strangle me if I go there. I assure her the elders are completely confidential and qualified to go over this infraction with us. I am certain none of the elder's wives will find out. Well, my field service never became fruitful but my wife remained content and happy.

I Just Don't "Fit" Anywhere!
by pettygrudger ini'm sitting at work today, listening to all the different "cliques" around me, typing here on these boards a bit (don't tell), and it occurred to me again that i just don't fit.. .
it seems like i don't "fit" anywhere.
i'm always on the outskirts of alot of "groups", always on the fringe, but never inside.
