Living for my life is my inspiration. Living for myself, for the experiences life has to offer, even if it 's just traveling in the mind while I read a good book, I live for that moment when it all comes together, when it all makes sense... =-)

Isn't it funny how that article PLAINLY STATES "Jehovah is the final judge" yet they can Disfellowship us? So interesting I could just puke.

You guys probably don't even remember me, but whenever I posted on here six months ago when I was DFed for being a lesbian, I was really desperate for some truth, and I got it here. Thanks to all of you, so much! I hardly think of the society anymore. I've filled my life with postive things, books and college, new movies, R rated ones Hee hee, and the like. It's funny. When I first left, I went a little crazy, and I dyed my hair blue, started swearing and drinking a lot (For a 21 year old though, i was pretty moderate... ^^;;) but now, I'm really level-headed and normal. I was in the truth for 5 years, not raised, and I live in a small town where running into other people who knew me from the "truth" was a commonplace... It's funny, nowadays I don't care. It's kind of fun, because THEY are dead to ME. Half the time I don't even notice them.
Well now, I just wanted to say thanks and to any lurkers out there, this is the place to be if you need help getting over the depression of it all. Screw the religion, live for life!!!

If I knew it was wrong I wouldn't do it!
by WantTheTruth ineven after a year of thought regarding religion, and inparticular the jw faith... i am still no further forward as to whether i should go for it.. i realise that practically everyone who reads this post will be anti-jw; but i appeal to your unbias/ neutral side... if thats possible.. both sides have their own point of view... both are very convincing; i am just not sure what will "clinch the deal".. all i know is that i cannot go on like this for much longer!.
soul-destroying is an understatement!.
yours in desperation.... wtt

WTT,
Consider mind control before you take the plunge. Your thoughts are very similar to mine when I first became initially involved with the JWs. I'm only 21, female, and I was involved four years ago when I coverted... I thought JWs followed the Bible closer than any religion I'd ever encountered, were friendly, happy people who cared, right?
They are only acting nice because there's a chance you'll convert and they will do anything to get you to convert. Try saying something contradictory to what they teach, and watch the reactions if you hold your ground.
Even more than that, look at the practice of Disfellowshipping. Keep that in mind and read 1 Corintians 13:1-8... and tell me if it's loving to banish a person for sinning when you're supposed to love them... and imagine, if you will, being in this religion for your entire life, having a family, and maybe a few kids... and then imagine that one of your children decides that he or she dosn't want to be a witness... you have to shun your child, WTT. Imagine doing that, and tell me it's in line with the Bible. Jws may have a good idea in studying the bible, but there are several elements of mind control employed in the religion as well as "tough love" to try to encourage a person.. that's not what Jesus taught, no matter how they twist the argument. That's what got me out (and the fact that I'm a lesbian and they didn't take kindly to that.) Smiles. Email me or write back on the forum when you get a chance. I have stuff to say in private that could help [email protected]

Let the Rumors Fly!
by NaruNaruChan inso, i was talking to my best non-jw guy friend about random stuff when he said "what's apostate literature?
why do you know that word?
" and he said " well, ron (ron being one of my old jw friends) asked if i'd gotten any from you.

So, I was talking to my best non-jw guy friend about random stuff when he said "What's apostate literature?" and I said "?? Why do you know that word?" and he said " Well, ron (Ron being one of my old JW friends) asked if I'd gotten any from you."
I was basically floored, hearing then that rumor has it that I am this great big apostate since I got Dfed three months ago for being a homosexual and that I picket conventions, etc. I DO NO SUCH THING. I give a crap about JWs and their BS conventions, etc. I thought it was funny, though. Anybody else have rumors spread about you when you left the Borg? Granted, I am an apostate by the JW definition because I hate the organization and all it stands for, but I don't preach about it. Oh yeah, and the story gets better. My friend Ron offered a study to my best non jw guy friend, and he accepted, but ONLY because he thinks he can convert Ron back. Isn't that hilarious?! God, what a buncha crap. Anyway, that's my stress.

Are you still looking for a meaning to life?
by sleepy in.
i havent bothered thinking much about the deeper issues of life recently but why not start again i thought to my self, and i ask the questions what are we and how did we get here?and i ask these in the biggest sense ie, not how did we get here on earth but how and why did the whole show sart in the first place.. its easy to say the universe just happened , we just evolved and our conscious existance is just a freak of nature.but these answers sweep over the main issues which are far deeper.. i learnt to reject ghosts, gods, angels and supernatural phenomena , but my own existance is more perversely strange to a logical mind than any of these, and yet i do exist.. what the hell is it all about i wonder?

I was thinking, and... well... why does everything have to have answers? ; Why should life have just one solid meaning, when life can be about an assortment of things, and that can be it s meaning. ; I always thought, even when I was a witness, that life should be about the experiences we have. ; We experience love, family, friends, places, random acts of stuff... etc... just as well, we experience sadness... grieving, depression, old age, etc.... All these things culminate what life's meaning is... Life, to live. ; ^_^ To be alive. ; What else matters? ; =-) Just a thought.

;

Gayle

What it means to be tricked
by NaruNaruChan into be tricked into joining a cult is to accept a study from one of jehovah's witnesses.
i can remember the young sister who told me "i don't understand how people can say we're a cult.
after all a cult worships a man, and we worship jehovah.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...............
How many times have you heard the phrase "The Society Says/States/Recommends..." as opposed to hard fact??
Oh? What's that you say? No, you see, JWs don't worship Jehovah, they worship an organization... a control factor. Something to goveern every aspect of their lives because they can't think for themselves.
To coin the phrase...
"Oh... to be free... ^_^"
