  I hate my Grandaughter's father!

  i have a bit of a dilema.

  years ago a young man began to pursue a relationship with my daughter.

  My husband's sister got pregnant at 21 and has basically stuck with the jerk for 14 yrs now. She is still a single mother of a troubled 13 yr old girl, she has no job skills, no education, and all he spends his money on is marijuana. She is 35 now and about 4 yrs ago the Jerk was involved in a dealy accident at work that killed two people--and he tested positive for pot. He has just been served with papers suing him in this from the families involved. Where will they all be now? They have been sleeping on air mattresses on other people's floors for 3 yrs now. Big big mess. It did not have to happen. The relationship could have been ended before it began and the kid could have had a decent father and Sis could be a happy wife. Don't make two mistakes. Just because the baby is biologically the child of a jerk does not mean the child should be sentenced to never knowing a decent man to act as father. I wish my mother had left my bio father when she first planned it and I was only 5....our whole lives would have been different.

  Can Baptisms be anulled?

  i was baptised when i was 12 years old and i dont feel like at that age i was mature enough to take such a drastic step.

  i dont think its right to be df'd for something that i never really did since the baptism is really only a symbol of the dedication and i never did that.

  i just was going along with the flow.

  also another thing that came up for me while reading this post (again)---the whole 'one baptism' thing---why do we consider that to mean one particular act of baptism and not one TYPE of baptism---where I am going with this is: why would it be wrong to get baptized more than once if each baptism was a different kind of baptism? I can see it would be unnecessary to get baptized twice if you got baptized as, say, a Methodist both times---but if you changed your whole paradigm then I think getting baptized in the new religion is appropriate(for as many times as you change it). So far I was baptized as a JW, a Mormon, and a Catholic. I also had an Initiation Ritual as a witch. Now if I decided to become Buddhist or even Orthodox (Greek) I would be required to be baptized with them too.

  I have been struggling with this very issue and after reading this thread it just struck me--after I left JWs I was baptized by the Mormons--(they baptize you after only 6 lessons and I wanted to know more about them)who considered the JW baptism invalid and then I converted to Catholicism who also baptized me because they considered the Mormon AND JW baptism invalid...so basically the JW baptism becomes invalid when your current religious affiliation considers it so. So wouldn't it also hold that if you yourself decide it was invalid, then it was invalid?

  My 12 year old's spiritual quest..I could use some advice

  for the last few years, my son has been thinking about what happens when you die.

  it has caused many a nights lost sleep for him.

  today he asked me (for the upteenth time) what i thought happens when you die.

  I don't know what particular religious affiliation, if any, you hold now, but might I recommend you check out the local Unitarian Universalist fellowship? It is where I went right after JWs to find answers that were unbiased and tolerant about other religions. They have a website too--- uua.org

  and they also have a pagan branch called CUUPs which is linked from their main web site. Very intellectual and open group of people. with EXCELLENT libraries--offered for FREE!

  just a question about the vitriol aimed at the catholic church from the wtbs- .

  i understand (but disagree) with the "doctrinal" aspect of the attacks leveled at the catholic church by the wtbs - it's the great harlot, etc.

  i'm more interested in getting to the bottom of the real reason they target catholics so strongly.

  Dino cancer

  i have been reading about dinosaurs and other contemporaneous animals and have repeatedly encountered examples of physical malformation (diseased or deformed bone and teeth)and evidence of bone cancer over 100 million years ago.

  does this not refute the position held by jws that disease resulted from adam's sin?

  because humanity has not evolved enough collectively to be able to accept personal responsibility and the possibility that we are already just exactly what we are supposed to be right now for us.

  This is a hostile environment and we are creatures loving comfort above all else. Pain, sickness, suffering, dying, death--are all uncomfortable--so therefore they must be unnatural for us!

  The Knock at the Door After the Prayer

  this experience is commoly related by jehovah's witnesses:.

  a man or woman is desperately searching for "the truth" or someone is about to give up on life but before they do they utter a prayer to god and lo and behold a knock is heard on the door and behind the door are jehovah's witnesses.. these experiences are used by jw's to confirm angelic direction on their work and seems to reinforce in them that they have the "truth".. how does one argue against such personal experience?.

  i am no longer a jw and no longer support their organizational teachings by the way, but i'd like to throw out the above question to you all for comment and consideration.. .

  this also reminds me of the sister who always told me as a liitle kid to 'live each day like it is the last one before armageddon--because one day it will be!' So if you pray every hour for an answer--one of those prayers will be the one that gets answered, and if you pray everyday for the 'truth' one of those days someone will knock on your door and you will think it is the answer to your prayer.... if your gonna pray at all seems to me you need to pray for discernment--since it seems inevitable that prayers WILL be answered sooner or later.

  I happened to actually be there on a return visit with my grandmother(who was a nurse) to interrupt a suicide attempt when I was a kid. But I figure it was more like odds than a coincidence. For one thing, JWs are always out in service during the day when a desperately lonely or sad person(usually at home because they ARE desperately lonely or sad...)is at the critical point.Also in the case of the ones who have been up all night crying and praying, well--we are usually there pretty early in the AM. Also many of the return visits are predisposed to such circumstances since JW prey on that situation--the hopeless, depressed, lonely, sad....

  So I think it is probably about 50% coincidence, and maybe 25-50% availability, (and 25% supernatural intervention-- if you might be inclined to believe in that---but not JWs because they are JWs, but because they happen to be the first ones there.)

  Insight on the Scriptures-Volume 1 Page 373:

  ...Jesus was using figurative speech, referring to "the temple of his body." ...

  ...This use of building as applied to one’s body is not unique, for, speaking of Eve’s creation, it was said: "And Jehovah God proceeded to build the rib that he had taken from the man into a woman."—Ge 2:22.

  WTF does that mean? Just because something was 'built' does not mean it was a 'buliding'! You can 'build' a sandwich, a court case and even a better mouse trap for godsake! JWs are so stupid!

But here's the deal...I can handle you and anything you want to dish up. I can handle my pathetic cousins and aunts and uncles, even my pitiable schizophrenic father. But if you even try to involve my real mother or sister in any of your harrassment schemes I will take legal action and make sure that you will never see a dime of any money you think my father has because it will all be spent in trying to defend your sorry butts in court. Do I make myself clear?
