  at walter reed medical center in washington dc recently the sergeant major of the army, jack tilley, was with a group of people visiting the wounded soldiers.

  he saw a special forces soldier who had lost his right hand and suffered severe wounds of his face and side of his body.

  the sma wanted to honor him and show him respect without offending, but what can you say or do in such a situation that will encourage and uplift?

  the thing about it is that no one has to explain to anyone who is in the military anything the Commander-in-Chief tells you to do. Otherwise don't join the military. Non-Americans seem to have a hard time understanding this. The military over here are not the ones protesting this war---the movie stars and whiny-a$$ liberals are.

  Personally I don't care. There will always be wars between humans, and the attack of 911 is enough reason for me to want to go kick some a$$ whether oil or politics comes into it or not. But I am not biased. Ihate ALL fundies of every persuasion.

  Incidentally I disliked the Clintons while they were in the White House, but since they are out I have seen some fantastic interviews with Bill and Hillary and I would actually PAY to go see an interveiw in person. Bill is deeper than failed politics and sex scandals. and he is an excellent speaker.

  I personally do not like GW, and I can't stand his fundyish ways. But I don't get the issues mixed up either. I come from a military family(my father-in-law is Viet Nam Vet Green Beret and retired and living near Fort Bragg) and I KNOW what this military thinks of this war. They support their Commander-in-Chief and do their jobs. And they knew what they were getting themselves into when they signed up. Anything any less is for traitors.

  in all honesty, are you pretty much like you are at home or in the workplace when you post here?

  i wonder whether or not you are the same personality in person as you are here on the internet board.......i'm very much the same only i don't ask people questions in real life.

  but my basic personality and wonderful wit is always there.

  w00 h00! I've been approved for free new hearing aids!!!

  took a while, but i got approved for 2 brand new hearing aids for free!!

  the clinic across from the homeless shelter where i am staying told me today that my application for 2 brand new hearing aids got approved and i am to report to the clinic tomorrow morning at 10 am to be fitted for new ear molds.. still no luck on jobs!

  i went to the speedway gas station 6 weeks ago and came back 3 weeks later to check on the status of my application and someone lost it.

  congrats! I am so happy for you!

  can't Voc-Rehab help you with a job? My husband's sister is profoundly deaf and sometimes they offer her stuff thru Voc-rehab(but she is not interested in working--she just wants to smoke her welfare checks...) Have you tried a Center for Independent Living? (they call them CILs). I know you have probably exhausted all possibilities, sorry if I am being redundant here. good luck.

  isn't it interesting that not even the 'strongest' JW is up to the task of confronting apostates? Doesn't that put us on the top of the food chain? I wonder if any JW has ever stopped to think that if we are so much more on the ball than they are--why we left?

  sorry if this has been brought up before (and i'm sure it has) but what are your nicknames?

  what people nickname you can be very telling about your personality and it's funny that they sometimes become more a part of you than your given name.. i have a long list of them..lol!.

  when i was a kid: carrie canary (cause i walked around singing all the time).

  growing up I was called Cammy because my mother's name was the same as my middle name. Later in school for some reason I was called 'mouse' by a boy who was as short as I was(and his REAL name was Martin Garten-he had room to tease!) Later in life I was called 'Comylla Gorilla' by people who hated me.

  But my nickname of the last 7 years has been Martini because I won a cruise to Alaska in a contest and everything on the boat was free except the alcohol, unless you did one of the scheduled 'tastings' and they had a Martini Bar with tastings everyday...so guess where I was? (My Catholic confirmation name is Martine--which was sort of a coincidence!)

  I have been using Ravyn since about 1989 when I finally made peace with it. I use 'Lady" or 'Ravyn of Thay' for my RPG online names. I was using 'Lady Loves Knight' when I met my husband online---he was 'Crusador'. (LadyLvsNyt is also Lady Loves Night---depending what I am playing at.)

  Walking With Cavemen

  cavemen evolve into homosapiens over a span of 3,500,000 years.. how is it that this statement is stated as fact?

  if it is proven as fact,then is the genesis account of creation false?.

  in order to believe it must one believe in evolution?.

  I watched the show and it was very good. One thing I noticed that as an ignorant Dub I didn't realize was that there were different SPECIES of humanoids living at the same time. So it was not like one line of unbroken cavemen to where we are now. Modern man today is not from Neanderthals at all...they died out. I never thought about it before, but they are right...in every genus there are many species--all except humans today---but there are proofs that other species did at one time exist....hmmmmmmm and modern DNA testing can prove it.

  I was such a fool when I was a Dub.......will I ever catch up? Atleast to my ancestors?

  well on Father's Day it is my turn to shun. My JW father always seemed to somehow get around the whole non-celebration thing by getting all sentimental about his being a father, and somehow we ended up going out to eat or something anyway---of course we were NOT celebrating Father's Day!(yeah right like Surprise Day on Dec. 25th...and our personal 'anniversaries' of birth...)

  But since my father left my mother 15 yrs ago and completely and totally destroyed her chances of any kind of normal life...I rather enjoy ignoring Father's Day now. And I celebrate Mother's Day openly.

  One thing I don't know how I am going to ignore this year tho is what would have been my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. If I had the money I would send my mom 50 roses and my father 50 dead roses, and my stepmother 50 condoms.

  PS I have a father-in-law now who is a former Green Beret and can be a charming sweetheart of a guy---so I honor him.
