Veterans day is a bunch of crap!!

i have several friends that are veterans and they have to work on monday!!

yet teachers (and we know how useless they are) and students get the day off.i have an idea!!

why don't they just let the veterans off, would that be asking too much??

Like so many other holidays, Veterans Day has become "just another day off". If you are working, take the time to attend a ceremony before or after work. If you have the day off, go to the local parade. Show support for those who sacrificed more than most of us could ever imagine. And should you find yourself in Washington, Cambridge, UK, or Normandy in the future, look at those neat little rows of stones or names on the wall. Understand that each of those represent someone who's life was cut short in service to their country. It doesn't matter whether in a "good war" or not. When called, they went. And some didn't return. Those that did come home weren't the same again. This may sound like patriotic rhetoric to some, but I feel we owe a tremendous debt to those who served. Honor them in your own way tomorrow, but appreciate their sacrifice every day.

What Was The 1st Thing That Made You Question?

as a youngster raised in the "truth", i had my questions.

but anytime you ask a question that is unanswerable, you are told to just wait on jehovah.

as time passes, i believe that we store up a number of unanswerable questions that forces one to eventually think about everything.

I was also raised in it, and had the great misfortune to be raised by parents who actually believed the manure dealt about the "worldwide association of brothers" and being willing to give your life for another, etc. The everyday squabbles attributed to "human imperfections" slid by, but then I experienced first hand one of the witch hunts that so many others have been through at the hands of these "true" christians. While all of this was going on, these same people were continuing to preach ad nauseum the above material. After that the questions just didn't stop coming.......

I voted today for the first time

yes -- i shared in the mid-term american elections.

and my polling place was a big old lutheran church -- yes, right there where babylon the great plays the whore to the politicians!!

Voting has become one of my favorite activities since I left. After years of parroting to folks what good citizens the witnesses were, I actually get to be one now.

i am a coptic orthodox christian right now, and i am good friends with a witness.

unfortunately, i didnt know enough about my own religion before i started listening to my friend and i am starting to question my faith.
