here i want to discuss one in particular.

Have we met? Were you one of the elders that "encouraged" me to marry because I made out a few times with my boyfriend? Did you know he was gay? Were you one of the ones who counceled him to "settle down with a nice young sister" so he could "get over" his homosexual tendancies. Were you one of the elders in any of the many halls I attended while married and miserable? It had to have been obvious that I was depressed and hated myself, why didn't you help me? Were you one of the two elders who told me you couldn't help me with my marriage unless my husband asked for help? Were you one of the elders who never called when I quit going to meetings and left my husband? Loving shepherds indeed.

Excellent, well thought out post, tsof. Obviously a sore point for me, but I'm over it, really...

Growing up with no self-esteem is probably the biggest.

The poor relationship I had with my dad because he was an "unbeliever" is another, but that has been remedied, so it's just what we missed out on when I was growing up.

The fiasco of a marriage to a gay man (for 7 years) was a biggie.. but I'm over that now can't you tell?

No college education.. but I'm doin alright without, so no harm no foul

Not having any friends could be considered a big one.. but I've got my Hubby (no, no..not the gay one!) and we do pretty good with just each other.

The years I wasted pioneering and hating every minute of it... it's not like I converted anybody, so, again.. no harm no foul

Hmmmm.. I guess the answer is No, they didn't harm me at all..

Oh, wait, I forgot the whole mom and sisters think I'm evil cause I left bit, but then again, a lot of people would love to have their family leave them alone, so I guess that doesn't count either...

Anyone have ever seen a ghost (spirit)?

when i was going at the kingdom hall with my father (i was very young), it happened from time to time that the subject of spirits entered in the conversation.

then at this point, it seemed that everyone had their own little story to tell about the spirits of the devils.. .

personnally, i'm always skeptic about these things and i won't believe it until i see it.

I saw one once.. my MIL has seen a couple. I have no proof and don't feel the need to try to justify it, I know what I saw, and I believe my MIL.

This doesn't mean that I don't think people make stuff up to get attention.. I mean, look at warlock! (Just Kidding!!!)

We have problems with what we call "gremlins" for lack of a better name. Silly things like car keys turning up in a place you would never ever have put them and such are pretty common. A shirt I got out and packed for a trip turning up back in the drawer under the rest of the clothes... The one that sticks out the most is the time we got a letter from VA, one we had been waiting for, we read it, I put it aside.. a few days later we needed that letter and I couldn't find it.. we looked high and low, I tore the house apart looking for that letter, no luck. Two days later it came in the mail.

I realise these are not visual things, which the title of the thread requested, but we can't explain them and find them interesting. The ghost I saw was an old man on my lawn.. there one second and gone the next... I know what I saw.

And I believe Warlock, too.. maybe that makes me gullible, but he sounds sincere, and put together with things I have seen and heard.. I believe him.

I sound defensive, don't I? a few to many of these: will do that!

JW and reasoning?

so the same jw chick who sent me the whole urban legend of the people who wanted to adopt a kid and then just happened to adopt a kid whose jw parents died and he was looking for jw parents and i were talking last night.. so i am talki'n to this chick and she asks about inactive jw friend and i say she and her new non-jw hubby are do'n really well.

of course jw chick finds this hard to believe because of the whole "unevenly yoked" crap.

so of course this irritates me and i say .. how many jw marriages do we know that have ended in divorce?

Reasoning? There is no reasoning with unreasonable people.

That was some really twisted "reasoning" on her part. Isn't it amazing how every thing can be qualified as "the devil did it" or "Jehovah blessed them" depending on the situation and their bias? Someones good marriage can't be a "blessing" if they aren't serving god... it's the devil keeping them from seeing the error of their ways!!! Or.. turn it around and it's because the devil isn't concerned with her, she's already "out" he has to concentrate on loyal JW's.

Ugh... this making my brain hurt.. too much "independant thinking" on my part... I better go read a watchtower.

Online Dating etiquette

i ran across this info and thought it would be good to share since there are some here who are using online dating sites like match and plentyoffish.

i've been a bit surprised by some of the men emailing me, demonstrating that this info is not common knowledge.

(i'm not suggesting that men alone are guilty.

I met my hubby online.. not in a dating site, in an online game. We chatted a lot, exchanged several million emails and were "just friends" for about 6 months, talked on the phone a few times, finally met in person and he moved in with me two weeks later

Hey, when it's right, it's right... we met almost 7 years ago, have been together for over 6, and have been married for almost 3 (we were a little slow in the matrimonial catagory, we both have ex-spouses) He's my best friend, we do everything together and spend all our time with each other..niether of us want it any other way.

The internet is a great way for people to get to know each other and be friends before "hooking up" but, like any form of dating, it can be harmful too.. caution is a good thing, especially where the heart is concerned. I think the rules are a great idea.. as long as everyone sticks to them.. but how can you know?

Anxiety, stress, depression - What do you take?

i've been feeling like a slug.

the antidepressant that i was taking wasn't working.

the doctor couldn't give me another steroid injection for my migraines because it caused my blood sugars to go sky high and made me suffer from steroid induced mania; and then after it started leaving my system, i had this really down feeling.

For anxiety (like when my mil was living with us) I take Calms.. it's all natural and can be found at most health food stores.. this probably isn't what your looking for, though, it's pretty mild.

Baba has some good advice, I've been reading up on this stuff and it sounds pretty good.

also, the co called me last month, inquiring about my "spiritual status," including my prayer life.. i told him: "bob, i've prayed to jehovah at least 200,000 times in my life, and he has never once verbally acknowledged my efforts to communicate with him.

found that music has helped with you getting over being a jw like a song or even a few lines out of a song that just says exactly how you feel.. i know that over the years i have used music as an away of escaping sometimes just from everyday life.

untill a few years ago i found the right song for gettting over the pain and i just summed it all up.. you want to kow what it is?.

well i have always liked metal/grunge even when i was a jw i hid it though and a few years ago i stumbled accross this band and one of their songs just hit home with me!.
