my family has decided to shun me.
last week my brother and my husband got in a heated debate and finally my brother asked him why he doesn't believe in the jw's and he said because there religion is based on a lie.
well my parents found out and now have decided the best thing to do is shun me.

I'm soo sorry that you are going threw all of this pain. I've only been out of the organization for 2 years and my parents not only shun but seem to have taken it to a whole new JW level; I'm NON~EXISTENT to them. It is extremely painful and again I'm soo sorry. There are a lot of good people here and I'm sure that they will bring you much comfort. just a general query as today i am feeling, as most sundays, like i want to move to the moon and get away from my jw family...ie, mother and father.
for years i lived abroad and didn't really think about it much, but now that i am back and in the area, just the very thought of spending too many minutes in their company makes me want to pack up and move away again.
it's been several years since i left home and the jw organization.

So sorry that you are feeling upset today. You are not being selfish. I can totally relate to what you are going through. The only comfort I recieved from all of the fanaticism and hypocrisy was when I became disfellowshipped. My parents have totally Disowned me and DO NOT have any contact what-so-ever with me. As sad and hard as it is for me at times; I've found it's a total protection from feeling the way you do right now. I hope things get better for you soon. Best wishes!!!

it may not be the main problem or the only problem and i do agree that this needs to be treated as a criminal issue, but let me give you a very good example of why it is important for a problem like this to also be taken care of congergationally.. my father in law dan fitzwater sr has now been taken care of criminally.
( no thanks to the wts) he is in prison for child molestation.
he has been abusing children for a very long time, but he is only serving a short time in prison.
I just wanted to say that I had NO intentions of offending anyone here!! As you can see, I feel VERY strongly about this issue. My point is; that the 2 Witness policy IS a problem. I do NOT believe it is the ONLY problem nor do I believe that if policy is changed that all problems surrounding this issue will simply vanish. I DO however, believe and KNOW that a child molester is NOT going to molest a child in front of 2 eyewitnesses. That's my point plain and simple. Again, I apologize if I did not make that point clear in my previous post. That is my stand.

I also thought; .....maybe I misunderstood: but that you also agreed that a child molester would not be so stupid as to commit this act in front of witnesses. That is my ONLY point here. I treasure and value you as a friend and again apologize if I offended you.
