OK I know Im a bit slow to have just realised this, but there is 6, 000, 000 witnesses worldwide right, so say they all donate $5 a week (thats minumum) thats $1, 560, 000, 000 a year, What are they doing with all this money?????? Plus there is magazine, bible and book sales (contributions). I just never thought about this before. We used to be encouraged to donate 1/10th of our income, so at a base income that is $50 per week for a family of four, so that is $3, 900, 000, 000 a year. MY GOD!!!!!!
Is there a financial break down for the society or do they just bamboozle everyone with the witnessing report and hope they will forget the finances?

How much do JW's RESPECT their kids?
by anti-absolutism ini strongly believe that it is very difficult to be a good parent in the borg!!
if you think about it, the parents are basically trained to look at their kids as if they are lesser human beings than them..... you know the old head of the house crap!!.
i know from my personal experience, i was df'd in 1992, but i never made the definite decision to never go back until 1997. .

When he was born I thought I was going to spend the next 20 years of my life teaching him how to become a man. After my mind-opening experience, I began to look at the reality being more to the fact that he was going to spend the first 20 years of his life teaching ME how to be a man.
WOW! I really respect that what you said about your son teaching you to be a man, what a wonderfull thing.
I think the org is not really focused on haveing a good and happy family life, they are focused on control, that is all that concerns them.

WT goofie phrases.
by Pepper ini used to get into trouble for making light of the these phrases that some elders have told me are to be used only gods people.
lol that you all may know maybe:.
"well, brother that is very "commendable," just before the meeting ends the po says to those in attendance "brothers the time left is reduced," i once heard a co say to those seated during one of his talks "well now, we don't want to die at armageddon now do we, well of course not.

What makes us Human?
by donkey inthe thoughts in this post are generated from work done by by carl sagan.
although i am not quoting him the core ideas and logic were his and i am recalling them from memory.. let's start with murder.
we cannot be convicted for murdering a chimpanzee even though the chimpanzee has a dna matching 99.6% of ours.

I agree, it is the potential to be human that is important,
If being human means we have a conscience and the ability to reason then we have to accept that a fetus is NOT human. A Fetus (even if it is biologically alive) cannot reason - it cannot think.
by your argument a retarded person who could not reason could be killed and it not be considered murder.

Two teenage guys who were a little slow doing an 'interview' type part on the stage, The elder asked them what their goals were... neither could answer, they just sat looking at each other, so the elder starts berating them about not having any spiritual goals and they both start crying... poor boys.
My now husband then teenager turning up stoned to a meeting and realising he had to give a talk with no preparation. He did it anyway and pulled it off and got a very good report from the brother! LOL
Going out in the service with a pioneer sister when I was a teenager and her telling me her younger day stories and how the thing she missed the most was getting stoned, this encouraged me to try my first cone!
A very rich Elder using the Kingdom hall as collateral for a loan then losing all his money and getting D'd and having to pay it back. (He is now reinstated but doing the same things, and they're sposed to have holy spirit!)
I once was in service and found someone washing their car, i said" I wish i were home washing my car" LMOA that is so funny!

Hi
I dont believe in any of it, I have a vague belief in god or a benevolent creator.
I recently had a great friend die, he was only 30, he was across the other side of the country, the night following the night after he died I awoke at about 3am and I could feel his presense in my room, he had come to say goodbye to me. So now I believe that the spirit or soul goes on, I dont know where,
but I do not believe god has on Org. on earth. Ive been out about 3 years, just considered inactive by the JW's though, I guess I'm still slowly 'Putting off the old personality and on with the new' LOL a whole new set of belief systems. To start with though I still believed everything they taught from the bible, I've shed it slowly like a skin.

Do You Believe In God Or Not?
by minimus inif you've been associated with the witnesses, believing in god was a necessity.
do you still feel that god exists?
if you believe in god, do you feel that he cares about you?

Actually Ive been thinking that if we're made in gods image , then maybe there's lots of gods out there in that big universe and they all have their own little experimental earths and they are watching us like ant farms and seeing what we do when this or that happens and what results they get. Then they stir up the weather or set something in place that may cause a reaction. They are all individuals and have different personalities, some interfere a lot others let their little earth take its own path. Its a thought after all we are a very scientific world!
