Francois, try 'Kings in Grass Castles' by Mary Durac she has written a whole series, its about how the 'Cattle Kings' tackled the top end of Australia. A really good read, its actually about her family. It really gives an insight into how tough these people were, the magnitude of moving cattle and horses across this rugged country, how the aborigional people played a part, the importance of Sydney for the nation etc.

Ive mentioned these in other threads but:
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
Illusions, The adventures of a reluctant Messiah by Richard Bach
Jonathon Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach
Earth Bound by Clif Sanderson, whimsical but cool.
Night of the Wolf by Alice Borchardt
Here's an excerp from the last one:
" The grey wolf found himself drawn into human shape by the powerfull magic hanging over the grove. Every hair on his body had stood up like a cats. Then, as though drenched with icy water, he was a man, the spring night air cold against his skin. He gasped, shivered all over as the canine in him tried to shake off what felt to it like a waterfall of ice. He stood shivering violently, his eyes fixed on the women.
The priestess who had been watching the moonrise shouted something to the group guarding the girls."
Good story that, about the druids, Rome and the Gallic tribes, by turns a thriller, tragedy, horror and love story.

What do you believe happens after death?
by JH in.
do you believe that the dead are really dead, unconscious, without life, like the watchtower taught us, or do you think that they are still alive, but in another world or another form?.
do you believe that you had a previous life before this one?.

In essence pretty much what Francois said, except I believe we reach a god state in each plane before we move on to be the single cell organism of the next plane and so on until.....we are all. Life is about learning, enlightenment and we dont move on until we learn the lesson we came here to learn.

Hi Jesika
This is a very encouraging story, I have several childhood friends I'd love to contact, maybe I'll give it a try.

An epiphany, and prelude to other thoughts
by onacruse inwell, this is being a remarkable couple of weeks for me; one of those moments i'll remember for the rest of my life.
not to be melodramatic, but i think "epiphany" best describes what i'm experiencing.. a little history: i was born and raised a jw, bethel-bound at 8, baptized at 10. always a book-worm, liked to study math, science, and old wts publications (what a combo lol).
when i wasn't vacation pioneering (as it was called then), i spent my summers in my room, frequently reading for 16 hours at a stretch.

aaahhhh, that's better. It was the ethical bit that was getting me, the taking into consideration the perspective of others.
So morally we can do no wrong, it is only ethics which stop us from harming others. sorry I was coming at it from a different angle.
Craig, where is the 'blood thread' you were talking about?

Do You Love Yourself???
by minimus ini believe that before you can love another, you must love yourself first.
some seem to loathe themselves.
others seem to adore themselves.
