okay, i've chatted with several of you and i thought it was time to tell my story.
it all began during the gulf war early in january 1991. i was concerned about the war becoming the end of the world and naturally, because of my lifestyle, i began asking myself what i intended to do with my life.
a pioneer sister worked in the office where i worked, i knew she was a witness and studied the bible so i asked her opinion on what was happening.
Chris, I am so glad you are here.
Just over the past couple of days, I have been going into some of the Personal Experiences of former JWs and their stories, which never cease to amaze, shock, and occasionally, horrify me. As I read the stories posted by the members here, I notice that there are many common threads. For some the pain is still all too fresh and real.
The internet is a lovely and wonderful thing. This site is incredible. It has intrigued me and captured my attention like no other.
Hang in there Chris. I am sure it's difficult, and you may have many conflicting moments from time to time going on in your head, but overall, you'll recognize that the decision you made, was a good one.
We are here. We have been there. And yes...there is a life outside of the WTBTS. In fact it is a very good life.

i work in a meat-processing plant in the us.
one of the products we make is the stuff that becomes roast beef.
i can't tell who for, and we're not their only supplier, but they're big enough to advertise nationwide in america, so..... anyway, when we do our part on my line, before the meat's sent to the next step, we drip blood from the meat's box in the container the raw meat's dumped into.
I rarely eat meat of any sort.
When I did, I usually purchased items from Kosher meat markets, or Halal Muslim meat markets. They tended to prepare their meats carefully.
So, if anyone is a bit squeamish after reading what Kingpawn has written, maybe you may want to buy your meat at either a kosher or halal butcher shop.
it's a saturday night, what music are you all listening to?
for some reason, i'm in a disco mood.
i got alicia bridges "i love the night life".

warning: this post may contain some venting.
the last time i wrote about myself, half of the people who responded wanted my head on a stick.
so, if you didnt like my last post or if dont want read about someone elses problems, leave immediately!
Hey GilWarrior, I can tell you this. I trained in the medical field (10 years ago). Passed all my courses, got my papers/license etc., and you know what I ended up doing: working in a bar.
BUT...you know what? Despite my education etc., I actually enjoy working in a bar. In fact, it's the BEST job I have ever had. Seriously, and I'm going on 41 now.
Driving a taxi, hey...it may be something you'll be OK with, or simply a temporary thing.
Seems to be loads of stuff happening in your life, but that's OK. Over time, you'll eventually figure out what's gonna rock for you.
There are loads of people in professions that they hate. Yet, they remain. Sounds like you are one not to be tamed. Good way to be.
I have a feeling you are a very multi-talented/faceted person. Eventually, you'll find the job/position, that's right for you. When you do, you'll totally know it. Who'd've thought I'd be working in a bar? I went to university/college etc., but it did not prepare me for the real world; nor did being a JW either. But you just have to wing it, and see what comes.
Be safe, and look after yourself. If driving taxi for now is a means to an end for now, so be it, but I'm sure you'll figure it all out, and find something that will satisfy you completely.
In the meantime, take it easy, and all the best. Buy a lottery ticket now and again, you just never know .
good morning to you all, .
so my only bit of post this morning is a letter from the elders, i've been doing battle with them for a few weeks over arrangements for a judicial committee.
well, anyway as expected they "will not enter into any correspondence" nor will they allow a friend to attend the meeting with me but they will meet on friday to finalise the matter!
Francois, well put, kudos to you for a fine post.
Agreed!

Hi there. You know, as I read your post, it brought back memories for me. Albeit not exactly for the same reasons, but still, memorable enough.
It's always one-sided isn't it? For your own protection of word, dignity and honour, of course, the elders do not want you to have a person present at this meeting convenient for them.
Here's an idea, and I may get some flack, but that's OK, they'll have your interest at heart, but I do too, but not sure of the ramifications.
If you have a purse or handbag; do you have a small hand held recording device?
I've done that once, about 12 years ago with a stalker type. Recorded their conversation. It worked like a charm. Don't know if this is possible, but it'd have to be small enough to fit in a closed compartment and be quiet. The one I used, was painfully quiet, and when it clicked off, no one noticed.
Played it back: it was all there!
Just an idea. But it'd be neat to record their words etc., and have it for future reference. That way, it's 100% truth - and you know what I mean by that .
i think i may have eaten off of one too many aluminum pie plates.
losing my memory .
i forgot to mention this to some of you xjws who attended or knew people in richmond hill, newmarket or etobicoke.

I forgot to mention this to some of you XJWs who attended or knew people in Richmond Hill, Newmarket or Etobicoke.
I did attend the Richmond Hill North congregation briefly in 1980 (summer visit) and in the spring of 1982.
Met many people from that area, and those from Aurora & Newmarket.
Etobicoke, well I attended the "Lakeview" congregation from July 1983 until April/May 1984. The other congregation there was: Mimico.
Beans! I had a distant cousin who attended a Kingdom Hall on or near Ellesmere Road in Scarborough. If you remember the family name: Forrest, let me know.
Anyone else attend or know folks in those areas?
