I'm your woman! lol I am posting, you are posting, and with our names right next to one another...I'd think we were married! Maybe soon I'll figure out something. Hmmm. Now that I don't feel like being a dub or ex-dub defines me, it will probably be something more MOI!

Weekly Food Bill Survey
by patio34 inafter reading the thread on portion sizes, it'd be interesting to see what folks spend weekly on their groceries.
one of my new year's resolutions was to improve my finances and groceries are coming under scrutiny.
i spend about 30 a week (now), but when i wasn't paying attention and stopping in all the time, i'll bet i was spending double that.. so, what do you spend?

I am a frugal maven, even teaching others my tricks of the trade. I spend about $60-80 per week for a family of 6. Occasionally I have a $120-130 week when I need to really stock up on staples {faint}, but I do really great most of the time! Hubby makes great money, so that leaves tons to have fun with.

Are pets important in your life?
by JH ini always loved little animals, and i always will have one.
i noticed that most families do have pets.
for people living alone, a pet is a good companion.

Cat FANATIC here. I own tons of books about cats and am reading about them online all the time. I have two kitty rescues and plan to breed and show spotted domestics (Egyptian Mau, Ocicat, Bengal) when the kids are a bit older. I may even dabble a bit in exotic hybrids eventually.
I also am going to get my animal rehabilitation license soon so I can rescue and rehabilitate abandoned and injured animals. Bottle feeding a baby squirrel is the sweetest thing, let me tell ya! My daughter is going to become a vet tech. I'm so proud! She is NUTS about dogs and horses in particular.
Now that I have TIME (no meeting, no service! ), I can reach for MY dreams, and those dreams most certainly include pets and animals in them.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your replies! How wonderful it is to have these discussions. I'm still thinking and pondering so many things. What is the best feeling in the world is that I truly believe there is no hurry and that I am not going to "be destroyed" for taking my time and searching on my own...free at last!

Okay, so I'm standing in the bathroom brushing my teeth thinking:
"I believe in God. The Almighty God taught in the Bible. I think I do. Yeah, I do. Or do I?" lol (State of confusion lately here!)
"So, what about all the other people that have believed in god? Is/are their god/gods real or not real? Is mine real or not real? Do we all just desperately need something to believe in and so we created this concept and cling to it regardless?" (I know, these thoughts aren't new, just bear with me here... )
"So what if we are here on this earth just to learn something before going on to something else? Hmmm. Never really thought about it this way until I read a post yesterday to that effect." (Thinking, thinking...)
So indulge me folks and tell me: What lessons are you going to take (or should I say, "would you take") with you??? I'm thinking on this one today.
BTW...how do I change my font color to something OTHER than red?!

I know I haven't told ya'll my story yet as to why I am leaving, but this is the VERY thing that clinched it for me. (I'm going to write my story soon and share it with you, promise!) The day I found out the understanding of the word "generation" changed...that is the day I was through. How many years ago was that? And I'm only just now making my escape. {sigh} Better later than never! I actually have this very article quote clipped, pasted and saved on my puter for reference. It was a major flash-back to see it posted here this morning. Actually, I've been working on compiling all the quotes that take that same tone regarding the generation of 1914...including the one I studied in the Live Forever book before becoming a baptized JW. I can share that project with you later too if you'd like.

How much money is rich?
by freedom96 ini was just reading a posting blasting president bush for being rich, and therefore not looking out for the average american.
that is another issue, not for this thread.. my question is this: what do you consider rich?
how much money?
-
truthseekers2
$100,000 a year is far from rich today. You get by mediocrely with a family of 6 on that. Sick, isn't it? I think I agree with crazy on his figures. Anyone know where the stats for middle class, etc. are?
Now, if you are asking me what *I* consider rich... I am sure there are people that lead some of the most richest lives on $20,000/year and some that lead the most empty lives on a million a year! Riches aren't about money in my opinion. (But I'd take $500,000/year in a heartbeat! )

Asheville, NC, and yes, it's snowing here! My footsies are sooo cold. Who else lives in this area (since I'm not familiar with surrounding towns/cities yet) and do you ever get together? Would love to begin emailing/chatting with some of my ex-JW neighbors.
