Why is it even ex JW's run scared when they hear the word apostate?

i just told them where i work as a volunteer, that i am going to a workshop for those that have left a cult tomorrow.

they were all fascinated and wanted to know which cult i had belonged to.

i said jw's and this one guy said i he used to be one of them.

They're not really XJW's. They have left the Watchtower, but the WT hasn't really left them. That's why they run scared of the word "Apostate" and anything that contradicts the WT.

But the timing of when people seem to bring up these "facts," as right before an election IS partisan attempt to associate a candidate with something that conjures up *fear* or lothing in most people. Any association with Nazi's would in, theory, do the trick. Fortunately voters have been proved to be more intelligent than that.

Not really. The majority of the popular vote went for Gore.

Throwing mags away in public places

i did a search and couldn't find another post on this subject, so i hope this hasn't been addressed too recently already.... i systematically throw away wtbts literature that i find in public places (restrooms, and most recently, eight, count 'em, eight mags at the train station that had about 20 chairs in it (four sets of the same magazines--someone had a good month!

) i rolled them up and deposited them into the trash, my father was shocked and said that people should be given the chance to read them.

i said i was saving people from exposure from a cult.

1. Make known Gods name : Jehovah.

Ask her if it's fitting that god's name is known for cheap sales tactics, annoyances, circular reasonings, false prophecies and anal rententivenes. If they're truly making god's name known, then it would be known for something good instead of something bad.

2. Love among selves-

Ask her "Are you really loving eachother if you shun a person that questioned a teaching that was later determined to be 'false' and 'old light'"?

To her, websites are apostate.

Then paper isn't "Apostate". Print out the UN NGO document from the UN's official website.

She only sees what's going on in her own congregation of about 100 people and what she reads in the magazines(WT) It 's pretty much like a social club where everyone shares their struggles with one another. Funny how a majority of the people are always ill in some way. (Outside of her congregation, I'm well aware of whats goin on. She does'nt want to hear about it. If its not from the WT then its from the devil.) (Makes me sick to my stomach)

Then catch her in her circular reasoning and closed mindedness. Ask a question like "What if I told you that god says you couldn't get a lung transplant or vaccinations?" She would then call you either the "A" word or say "That would be false." If it's answering # 2, say "The Watchtower didn't seem to think so 50 years ago." and show her the quotes from old WT's http://quotes.watchtower.ca on those issues. And then ask her "If those teachings aren't scriptual now, how could they be scriptual then?"

3. Spreading the news worldwide about the coming of gods kingdom. Evil being destroyed.

Tell her to watch 3ABN sometime and see an even larger church (The Seventh Day Adventists) preach about god's kingdom coming on an even larger scale (3ABN reaches throughout all 6 inhabited continents and uses a medium that more people partake of, television than of pamphlets.)

if you found a db with a section entitled 'ask a jehovahs witness' for people with questions about what jws believe, what question would you ask them?

Why do you excommunicate those that raise valid questions in your organization?

Why do these critera, that fit most dangerous sects like the Davidians, the Unification Church and the Boston Movement also fit yours?

Authoritarian: There is almost always a central, charismatic, living human leader or a group of leaders who commands total loyalty and allegiance.

Oppositional: Their beliefs, practices and values are counter to those of the dominant culture.

Exclusivistic: They are the only group that possesses the "truth."

Legalistic: Rules and regulations abound governing spiritual matters and the details of everyday living.

Subjective: They emphasize the experiential, the feelings and the emotions. This is usually accompanied by an anti- intellectualism, either officially sanctioned or an unwritten trend.

Persecution-conscious: The groups feel they are being singled out by mainstream Christians, the press, parents, and the government.

Sanction-oriented: They require conformity in practice and belief, and exercise sanctions against the wayward.

Esoteric: They promote a religion of secrecy and concealment. Truth is taught on two levels, inner truth and outer truth, or that truth is slowly revealed only through them.

My grandfather 4 times removed was a huge racist, my mom and my dad are dubs and my uncle is a happily married monogamist that likes younger women, Didn't prevent my grandfather from having a black grandchild, didn't prevent my mom and dad from having an XJW son that's anti-religious and didn't prevent my uncle from having a nephew that's a flirtatious Finchite (American Pie reference)
