  I would dearly love to take this point up with an elder in my almost-ex congregation. But I don't think I will - he hates me enough already and he thinks I'm a trouble-making she-devil!.

  This is really interesting though. I never knew Adam & Eve were born the same year. I thought Adam was on his todd for ages, just naming animals and watching the sun rise and set. But then, I was never much of a Bible student - I just half-listened to the same old speakers prattling away on the platform week in, week out. I used to really listen and pay attention to everything, but the past few years I grew pretty tired of the same old thing mingled with the same old hypocrisy. Then I eventually started to use my brain and got myself in heaps of trouble..... sorry....I'm rambling now.

  i saw a reply by francois on another thread asking what the heck is marmite.

  we americans with our (a-hem) "refined tastes" really don't eat this stuff.

  most americans really never heard of the stuff.

  I LOVE marmite. Not only do I eat it on toast, I drink it aswell. One heaped teaspoon in a cup of hot water....mmmmmm....yummy!

  How can anyone not like it? Weren't you brought up on marmite soldiers?

  ****the mole..........to those of you who didnt see the interview...dr. bashir stated that jacksons where abused as youths and that because they are jehovahs witness michael is afraid of having normal sexual relations.............................more proof that jw's do abuse there families and abnormal sexual desires come those being suppressed and made to conform to an unnatural worship of our god jehovah..they are the unholy thing trying to stand in a holy place...

  I saw this programme and I didn't hear anything to connect the fact that he was (or wasn't) a JW with his warped upbringing and weird views on sex. The interview gave the impression that his views on sex were tarnished by watching his brothers carrying on with groupies when he was very young. Where were JWs mentioned? I don't even think his father was a JW and he was the one giving him all the grief and beatings etc. He had a cruel, unloving father, a strange childhood, and he has more money than sense. I also think the guy is pretty sick and he shouldn't be allowed to bring up 'his' kids. I ended up feeling really sorry for him.

  5 Yr. Old Daughter Dies But Mom Still Aux. Pioneer

  a recent experience was given at the meeting about how a faithful sister deemed her commitment to auxillary pioneer as being so important, that even after her 5 year old daughter rather suddenly died, she kept her promise to auxillary pioneer, just 2 weeks after the child's death.

  the congregation generally was impressed with this sister's experience and many expressed their admiration for this sister, who has since become a regular pioneer ( for over 20 years).

  When my 5 year old daughter was killed, all I was fit for was to be locked away in a padded cell for a year - and even after a year I felt dead - still do after over 12 years. How on earth could she do that? It was always implied at the time that I was pretty weak for taking it so badly and for not trusting in Jehovah enough - this woman must have nerves of steel.

  Brad,

  I have a couple of those old green Bibles somewhere - I'll have to dig them out. It never occured to me that the newer version of the NWT would contain changes. There is so much that I took as gospel and never bothered checking for myself - I was pretty gullible and feel ashamed

  What Makes A Person Feel Accepted In The Org.?

  I was never accepted either - they always looked at me as if I had two heads or something - they knocked my self-confidence for six and treated me like rubbish.

  The ones that were accepted were usually pretty affluent, were elders or an MS, related to an elder, related to an MS, grovelled to the elders, were pioneers (usually with the help of their extremely rich families), had a pioneer in their family, NEVER questioned the elders, grovelled to the elders, were never absent from meetings even if they were at death's door, grovelled to the elders (did I say that already?)

  The whole atmosphere was so demoralising - wish I'd had the guts to leave years ago before they sent me slowly round the bend.

  first of all, i would like to state that there was surprisingly little growth under rutherford.
