i read stories about some people picket at the khs.
some have signs that read, "would jehovah mislead you if you studied the bible alone without the watchtower?
have you had your kh picketed on?
I have seen people outside a couple of times.
I think it is a bad thing. If people want to go to the KH, it's nobody's business but their own. If I don't want to go, that's my business. If people are going to picket KHs, why not churches, mosques, temples etc etc. They are all responsible for some wrong teachings and plenty of bloodshed. JWs don't have the monopoly on wrong teachings.
seems that the page view out number the posters who actually reply to the thread.. my guess is that there's alot of active jws who are still active within' the so called "truth" are visiting this forum and reading all the threads.
i don't blame them for not wanting to reply for fear of being found out.. how many of you were still active when you found a forum like this one and lurked around for a long time?
how many of you left the organization as a result of reading this forum or other forums like it?.
I was aware there were boards like this, but I was always fearful of them because I was told so many times that they are full of apostates.

I was thinking about this very thing today. I was just thinking about the Trinity which I was supposed to have believed in as a child. When I studied and became a JW, I learnt that it was not a scriptural teaching. Today, after the WT study, I was thinking that, for God to have made a REAL sacrifice, wouldn't it have been more logical if he and Jesus were one and the same - that would have been a hard thing for him to do. I mean, why let your son go down and suffer when you could easily do it yourself? Why are we always told what a great sacrifice it was for Jehovah - what about Jesus? It was even harder for him. The more I think about it, the more I think the whole idea is weird. If God loves everyone so much, he would have sorted the whole thing out himself without making his son suffer instead.

i know that the interpretation of this scripture was a bone of contention with some jws.

When I first studied, I was definitely told this referred to earthly resurrected ones.
However, about 2 years ago, an elder told me it only referred to heavenly ones because it compares them to angels.
I always thought it was a cruel teaching - also because those who died as children, once resurrected, could never marry - just a tad warped!

i realize my comments are a bit wordy and my thoughts scattered, but i just thought i'd toss this out.
in the past, jw's argued on doctrine and the xjw community argued also on doctrine.
these days many jw's are no longer able to argue their own beliefs and the xjw communty has less interest in discussing jw doctrine or christian doctrine.
Speaking for myself, I love the information and support from this forum. However, I would never consider meeting up with anybody. Nothing personal - it's just the way I am.
I enjoy all the different views - even if there are people who are strongly in favour of the WT organisation - that's fine. We are all entitled to our beliefs. It is just so nice to be able to express myself without others rolling their eyes and looking at me as if I had horns growing out of my head. I don't mind if people on this forum disagree with me or think I have a strange way of thinking. At least I have the opportunity to say what I feel without the elders coming down on me yet again.

I can't quite get my head around paragraph 5. It seems to be saying we should be glad to lose someone we love because we are being given the chance to show how righteous Jehovah is. I can't see the connection. Are they saying that Jehovah delights in seeing a child taken away from its parents? Does Jehovah revel in the fact that some children lose a mother or father because it gives them a chance to show how faithful they are? The mind boggles!
And when talking about those who have suffered for 'refusing to share in an activity that their conscience now permits', the article asks "Was it unrighteous on Jehovah's part to allow him to suffer for rejecting what he now might do without consequence?" The truth is, a person may have suffered much hardship because the JW teachings at the time said so-and-so was wrong. Now the WTBTS changes its mind, they make out that Jehovah has directed things this way and therefore Jehovah is responsible for any suffering. So whatever you do, you just can't win. If I was disfellowshipped for something years ago that is now considered ok, would I be able to be reinstated when the WT changes its mind? Could I claim damages because they were wrong and I was right?
