I think that was my problem as a JW. Once the honeymoon stage was over, I just didn't stop talking. No real censorship bc I expressed my thoughts n feelings with my husband. Even so, I was expected to come to the" right" conclusion.

We Played Along With Our Own Oppression
by cofty inin communist east germany (gdr) writers were provided with a 'helper' - often a stasi agent - who would 'assist' the work through to publication.. poet and novelist gunter kunert described how this led to a sort of self-censorship.
it reminded me very much of the way jws can be trained to accept outrageous restrictions while imagining they are making free choices.. -----------------------------------------------------------------.
"as authors we were always trying to be ahead of the censor, to second-guess his instinct as to what was 'in' and what was 'off'.

Since leaving the truth, do you celebrate holidays, and does your participation in such bring you happiness?
by Stand for Pure Worship ini ask this respectfully, and do so after watching a favorite show of mine's season opener which had a new years storyline.
hollywood tends to make movies and television show episodes centered around holiday themes appear warm and blissful.
while i'm thankful to have never participated in such holidays, i can't deny my curiosity about ex-jws that do celebrate.

LisaRose- I keepforgetting :-)
Beautiful Xanthippe!
I grew up Catholic and particularly enjoyed Midnight Mass when the lights are off and candles are used instead. I never really did enjoy the pomp of priests during every other Sunday Mass. However, Christmas always seemed like the perfect occasion to go regal.
Recently I webt to a funeral at aCatholic church. Ididn't even know that I missed theceremonial nature of Mass. I missed seeing the altar, sitting in the pews, looking at the stained glass windows, watching people approach the altars.

Blondie's Comments You Will Not Hear at the 11-03-2013 WT Study (REMINDERS)

Once again, thank you Blondie. Your WT analysis, when I first began realizing TTATT, really helped me to move on from this poisonous organization. I am doing my best to move forward completely.
After a while, I began to resent all of the OT emphasis. Where is Jesus?
The other day I was texting a friend on FB... I talked about Jesus almost the entire time. She kept on mentioning Jehovah.
One thing I noticed since I left, is that almost instantly my spiritual focus is on Jesus. I have not yet started an in-depth study of the NT, but from what I learned about Jesus at the meetings, it is clear that he is kind, compassionate, and loving. If Jesus is Jehovah's son, and through him we can see God, then it is clear I should know much more about Jesus and I should study his example more.
By the way, what are these reminders that I need to constantly hear? The WT seems like a nagging mom that is constantly hounding her kids. The kids begin to wonder-- when will I be good enough to deserve Mom's love? It is overbearing, condescending, and demeaning.

NSA spying on Vatican! My JW parents are SOO EXCITED!
by BU2B init just came out yesterday that the nsa has spied on the vatican and pope francis.
when i went over my parents house yesterday, you could see the excitement, the energy in their eyes when they talked about it.
my dad even pumped his fist like he won something when he was talking about it.

I tend to believe that governments will also destroy religion centered around the prophets of old, and guide/direct people towards religious nationalism. Religion has just caused too many problems over the course of human history. I don't thnk we're at the breaking point. Not even close.

Sadly, fading is bad for my marriage
by stillin inwhile headship has always been a problem in my marriage, partly because i'm more of a team player and my wife has man issues, now that i'm clearly fading my wife feels that i have nothing of worth to say.. i resist the idea of divorce but this is not much of a marriage.
since she doesn't/ can't hold down a job alimony would be ridiculously expensive.
cheaper to keep her, as they say.. i get zero cooperation or even discussion for any adjustments i feel might be in order for us as we grow older: obabmacare?

This is according to my BF who is not nor never was a jdub:
I am totallyagainst JW views but still open-minded about situations where i need to be sensitive....
Youre basically complaining about your wife not giving you any loving.
Together 18 years , no kids. What is she spending $$ on? Is she getting paid for her accounting duties and tax preparation for the family business? She can't hold a job, but she's working for you and you need her to perform her job? Which is it?
The advice here is too extreme. Go back and talk to her tosettle the issue.
