at the DC right now, disgusting talk
by losingit intortured by this talk where they are attempting to legitimize the division/ separation of family.. "sadly friends some will refuse to have courage in this matter.is it not in our best interests to abide the arrangements of the christian congregation as set by jehovah?
accept the torture stake involved in confessing union with christ.
then they cite the example of a brother who is thankful to his wife for persisting in preaching to him.. now they are talking about disfellowshipping, lay serious guilt trip .the brother talking about his baby sister getting disfellowshipped, how his father cried for the first time.

Things are not as easy or as simple as what they seem; that's why I was at this year's DC.
the talk these quotes came from: the truth brings not peace but a sword.

Ideas to wake up the JW 'Feelers'
by Captain Obvious ina great point was made by neverknew on another thread about certain doctrinal issues will cause a 'thinker' to wake up, but a 'feeler' will just shrug and carry on.
the feeler jw is often not stupid, but intellectually lazy.
they will often not bother to do research, whatever is said from the platform is fine.

My husband and I are separated heading towards a divorce because of the exact differences in personalities you are describing. During our time together i tried to reason with him. At times it looked like he was leaning towards logic and understanding, seeing the truth about this hypocritical religion and the hypocrisy in its members. But "the truth" was stronger. I could not get past the control exerted over my life, a control that was stifling. He called that control a way of life, and this from someone who is "weak spirituality. "
I wish you luck in getting her to join you in freedom.

Tortured by this talk where they are attempting to legitimize the division/ separation of family.

Accept the torture stake. Be absorbed in spiritual activities. Resist self blame. Jehovah holds the sinner responsible, nit the parents. Putblame where it rightly belongs. To whom will you have greater affection?blood is not thicker than the holy spirit.accept the torture stake and find real peace with God."

Hi Janet and Ann,
Start another thread and continue your discussion. In many ways I feel similarly to you, in that i am in a spiritual limbo. I do not want to give up my faith, i want to continue serving God but now i don't know how. Any books you can suggest would be excellent. Thanks.

its over, its over.. the watchtower has decided to end it all, suspend the organization work.

I do not think 80% would rejoice. Imagine an entire culture/ society dying-- that is what Jehovah's witnesses are. There us an identity that bunds them together that they believe makes them special. Yes, the mindset is sick. But they stand on sand, they will all be washed away if your vision were to take place. It would be tragic for most. They would be just like everyone else in this world.

What on earth happened to the magazines?
by slimboyfat infor the first time in years today.
to say that it took me five minutes to read the whole thing would be to flatter the rag.
it doesn't even seem to contain actual articles any more, just headings and bullet points and pictures.

I just recently purged myself of all the WT and Awake! magazines i had. I kept loose and bound copies, had them organized neatly. But after finding out TTATT i couldn't bear to keep that trash in my house any longer.
It's true about the quality nowadays-- when I'm bored at the meetings, it only takes me hardy just 1/2 a meeting to get through it between dealing with the kids and stoping to listen to some interesting comment ( which i also feel is rare nowadays-- just repeat what the paragraph say. YUCK). I remember before it took me several meetings! (Remember I'm a mom with little ones at the KH)
I still have some books. Wondering if there are any worth keeping....

Crisis of Conscience and the preaching work with WT literature
by losingit in"it is interesting to contrast the deliberate elimination of prayers andsongs at witness meetings in mexico with the action of the watchtower society in the united states, where they were willing to fightcase after case all the way up to the supreme court of the countryrather than give up certain practices, such as offering literature fromdoor to door without a license and without having to register withthe police, the right to use sound cars, distribute literature on streetcorners, and many other such practices which are covered byconstitutional rights.
the organization did not want to relinquish anyof these things.
it fought to hold on to them, even though theseparticular practices are certainly not things that were done by earlychristians in the first century and hence cannot be counted as amongprimary christian practices.".

Yes, it's a good business. They tout these numbers (highest circulation of magazines in the world) as proof that Jehovah is with the organization. At a recent meeting I remember hearing this. But I wonder-- do they make the most $$$ from having the highest circulation? In other words, what do they gain from having the highest circulation?
