The most important day of the year. Sometimes. Sort of.

for jehovah's witnesses, the "most important day of the year" is supposed to be the 'memorial'.

this 'sacred' event is to be held after sunset on nisan 14. except most of the time, it isn't.. as 'explained' in the watchtower, 1 february 1976, page 73, the "governing body" (not capitalised at the time) takes it upon itself to 'determine' the 'actual' date of nisan 14. they claimed in the article that the 'modern' date for the start of nisan in the hebrew calendar is calculated differently to the ancient calculation.

however, that's not actually the case.. the actual calendation for determining the start of nisan was (since at least the neo-babylonian period) and is based on the metonic cycle - a sequence that repeats every 19 years.. in the metonic cycle, the 3rd, 6th, 8th, 11th, 14th, 17th and 19th years have an extra (thirteenth) month (adar ii, or veadar).

Ha! Just showed the video to my friend who is not a JW. I declared, "tonight's entertainment will be a talk from the Dc." "You've got to be kidding me!" LOL "Well, u have to hear the crap I heard when I went. And remember, this is the kind of stuff you're only goong to hear at DCs where the hardcore J dubs go." We sit and start to liste. head shaking the entire time. Then, when we get to the end and the quote comes up. My friend says, "Exactly!" Only to see that the quote is from the Awake. Shock, that was written all over my friend's face. The end.

i thought i would share this fb message from someone who considers himself to be a "true" friend of mine.

after learning from my former husband tha i am disfellowshipped, he writes the following: .

fb true friend: "xxxxx with tears in my eyes i will be deleting you but i want you as my sister again.

No, this person is not a "true" friend at all. I am actually okay with that now. But I'm having a hard time thinking of those whom I still hold dear to my heart as not being "true" friends.

Me: Who told you I was disfellowshipped?

Me: I'm very sad [FB true friend]. Why do I need to lose my friends in the most trying time of my life?

FB true friend: I don't know how to answer that. However, you know who it is that can get you through this. Pls XXXXX do what you must so this is just temporary and we can be there for each other again. I'm sure all you true friends feel the same way. Pls don't let, you-know-who get in the way of this. He will succeed if you let him. This will be my last correspondence, my old friend ;-(

Ridiculous! He can't even answer the question! And, I asked the question so that he could think some about what disfellowshipping actually means.

And I don't understand the cryptic language. Why not just use Jehovah and Satan's name in his "last correspondence" with me.

Clearly, I'm upset...

After reading some of these posts, I'm surprised that there doesn't seem to be a difference between having a parent that was a convert versus havng both parents born-in. It seems like children under both households suffered equally.

How Do You Know If You Are "Marked"?

yeah, this has been a question that has been on my mind for a while, but how do one know if he has been "marked" by the congregation?

i have expressed doubt last year about the org, but i still have responsibilities within the kh.

This explains the last year or so of my attendance at meetings. I was avoided like the plague, and i did not understand why. No one knew my personal business. Literally, no one spoke to me! I just sat there in thr front watching my kids play with the other kids after the meeting. It was as if i was disfellowshipped without being disfellowshipped. My family and i were not invited anywhere. Never invited ti eat at anyone's home. I even threw a huge party for the kids in the congregation fot no special reason, and still no invitations from anyone arterwards. Yeah, my family and I were marked. It was a very sad and lonely period. I was confused and didn't understand what i did wrong that no one wanted to be my friend. :-(

I'm making sure I go to the September meeting just to see what will be said. That July 15 WT magazine is a disaster. It is THE reason why I began to investigate TTATT. I haven't been to a meeting in quute some time. But this one I have to experience. Maybe I'll go to one where no one knows me, and throw in a super confused comment to mess with everyone's brain. I was too busy with a baby for the 2010 change to overlapping generations, but I remember thinking- - this makes absolutely NO SENSE! One of many teachings and practices I tossed to the side until I could no longer ignore them.That mountain of doubt along with the pain caused by the unChristian act of disfellowshipping made me say-- FORGET THIS!
