Perfect Relationship, He Still Broke Up With Me
by tiff21390 inlast month, my best friend of four years and boyfriend of six months came home from a jehovah's witness convention.
he'd been acting strangely the entire weekend and i knew something was wrong.
i initiated a discussion and he said, "essentially our relationship is wrong and i'm not supposed to be with you.

Advice about going to Meetings...................oh why didn't I listen...LOL!!!!!
by KateWild ini have been back to meetings for a month now.
prepared for them all except for when i went on holiday.. todays wt is about jehovah's organisation, it's clear loaded language and manipulation through fear.
i am not perturbed by it in the least.

Is she in charge of the doctor's office? Heck, is she the doctor herself? I'd have a fit and let the office manager know AND the doctor know if she was acting so unprofessionally in her place of employment- - ESPECIALLY at MY doctor's!
Well Kate, haven't you been somethingof an aactivist already? You do walk up to their tables and engage in conversation debating doctrine with them, right? Yeahhh going back to the meetings was just yuck waiting to happen. Seeking to be actively shunned makes no sense. Im happy you're out again.

"You are good people"
by ateograciasadios inthis story goes back 2 years, when my girlfriend and i traveled to my homecountry in south america to spend the summer visiting my family and friends.
although i was still attending the meetings back then, i had already been inactive for a while.
the developments since that visit have been slow but dramatic, and my perception of the people inside the organization has changed greatly.

Is the International Convention a week long? They talked about it very briefly on the news , basically informing ppl that there would be extra traffic bc of missionaries from out of the country visiting. Also they posted something on the highway sign alerting ppl to extra DC traffic, but Idk if it's related to the IC.
Anyways , definitely an interesting experience. I think the problem with most jws is that they have no real idea what charity and doing for others really means. *Sometimes* they help each other out pf the kindness in their heart, but to non-jws? Only if it's to witness. I struggled with this so much-- the in-group mentality. I'm thankful you were there to help the
woman in need. And I'm thankful for the brother who showed you his IC badge-- just reinforced the silliness and the inanity
of the witnesses! Geezzz I was embarrassed myself about being a Witness after about 5 or more years in.
Im happy you have your gf and her family to show you true love and concern. You are a blessed/fortunate man.

Reality is plain to see: if you just open your eyes
by kneehighmiah ini made a post a few days ago about stagnant jw growth at international conventions.
i also enjoyed reading analysis of the statistics from jwfacts.
what the watchtower claims and what the reality is, are two different things.

I wanted to believe in God. I wanted to be with my husband. I wanted to have a united family. I loved my friends. Those are the main reasons why I joined and stayed so long. I always felt uneasy about the whole fiasco, but what I wanted was more important than the truth/reality. I learned that nothing is more important than the truth/reality. You cannot ignore it and expect to live an innocent and secure life. Eventually, the lies catch up to you, no matter what you do.

What I'm going to say to JWs offering the JW.org tract
by baltar447 inlisten guys, one month i had some bible thumpers knocking at me door telling me about hell.
then i have some weird fundamental religious sponsored "education books for parents to help their children in school".
the next i have some south korean mother god cult come to my door with qr codes on their literature too.

Thanks to everyone who expressed kind words for teachers. American educators are under lots of strain-- it's nice to know ppl still care about our work! Can't wait for my own classroom!

Kate-- I still have a ways to go, but step one is complete. I feel confident that the rest will be accomplished too. It feels good to get important things done :-)
I'm going to ask the University if they'll let me walk next spring. I want my girls to be a part of my graduation and see that sacrifice pays :-) Crossing my fingers!
