Paris, as a newbie you likely aren't in any position to lecture others. Dicussion is one thing; preaching and proseletyzing are much, much different. The vast majority of the OPs on this site are theist/JW specific discussions, so your tepid rant missed by a mile.

Those coming on this site intending to fix, repair or save the lost ex-Dubs with their very own version of X-tianity, where they are the new GB, the self-appointed prophet who has a direct conduit to the big girl in the sky and the correct interpretation of all things scripture and prophecy get exactly what they deserve. They aren't 'discussing' religion. They are trying to convert others or wow us poor ex-Dubs with their scriptural wisdom. As if.

In addition, OPs which: a. suggest the bible is god inspired when it has major issues which would eliminate it from serious consideration as a legitimate reference; b. ignore scientific achivement based on actual evidence in favor of feelings and beliefs; c. eliminate billions of earth's inhabitants who aren't X-tians from being saved by their jesus/god/religion; and c. completely ignore the fact that states, regions and nations which are more secular and atheist tend to be more intelligent, educated, happy and functional, open themselves up for dissection.

Otherwise, welcome.

1- pray to god (whomever you may imagine him to be) asking for understanding.

2- study the background about the bible (from non-religious sources) to see where it came from.

3- discard (or at least set aside) chuyrch claims and dogma.. 4- read it, looking up archaeological/historical sources about the places and peoples referred to.

Yet another Ex-Dub or Proseletyzer arrives to save us poor ex-Dubs. You recently joined the site; I suppose after reading a bit you see the work ahead of you is challenging. Not gonna be so easy to preach and make converts is it? You say losing my faith likes it's a bad thing. My journey away from faith and your god/jesus took decades. That was me in the spotlight. That was me in the corner, losing my religion.

Holding on to faith keeps humans tied to the lowest rungs on our evolutionary ladder. We will never fulfill the potential locked in our DNA until we lose our faith. So DH: what about the billions of Hindus, Buddhists, Animists, Pagans, Non-Theists and others who do not believe in your god/jesus - or likely any god - and yet live long and prosper????? They lack the faith you seem to think is necessary. Yet they thrive. They are happy. One more thing DH: the 'faithless' as you call them, are typically the happiest, smartest, most educated and functional people on the planet. Your OP should have been "How to Embrace the Faithless Spirit of most here.

And DH: how long before you start telling us that you are the new sage, the new visionary, the new hope, the new prophet with special knowledge and a direct conduit to the big girl in the sky?

RB speaks Dub better than Dubs, so it is difficult to believe he isn't/wasn't a Dub. What a controlling, immature narcissist. He comes on this site trying to establish the ground rules for his post, creating a straw man reason to dismiss any who opposed him (our GRIEVANCES with the GB). Geesh, the nerve. The arrogance.

And when we dismissed and disregarded his amazingness and awesomeness, his 'special knowledge' and his very own prophetic and interpretive abilities, he threw the straw man up. RB, if you are reading: we dismissed YOU and your 'special knowledge.' Then we dismissed the bible as irrelevant and un-inspired. Then, when you attacked us, we mocked and ridiculed you some more. Deservedly. None of this has a rip to do with the GB or the Borg.

And note to all others with a similar mission: When you act like you are the new sage, the new visionary, the new prophet, the new GB and the only one with special knowledge, the correct interpretation of all things scripture, and a direct conduit to the big girl in the sky, do you know what we are going to do? We are going to mock and ridicule you. Deservedly so.

Upon exiting the Borg you cherish, I went back to school. I have a BS, an MBA and am pursuing a PhD. For the past 20 years I have done so many cool things that it would make your tiny brain spin. What I haven't done is pine, worry, or even think about your Borganization.

I've been on this site for a year, and my only objective is to help others learn to think rationally and analytically. That alone would enable them to completely escape the Borg's clutches and live a successful life.

All you are doing is spreading more of the malaise, the virus, the trap. The only thing of importance you likely possess is your intense bible learnin'. All of us on this site had that. Most of us still can recall it - likely better than you.

Go away little boy. Grow up. Or a pair. I don't care which, but go away.

The only reason I can think of why you even post this is to narcissistically show off your special knowledge of scripture and prophecy. Is RB now the new GB? ADCMS is likely right; you have tried to influence others with your 'knowledge' but Bethel or the KH really isn't the best place for this now, is it. Those pesky GB members are in your way, and they have worked tirelessly the past few decades to ensure that the rank and file don't discuss such matters.

Your waffle words (thanks Shirley that was masterful), IMHO, are simply an attempt to show your Uriah Heep humility. I don't typically post on theist OPs, but I have a special loathing for those with 'special knowledge' of all things scripture. I've had enough of that for 10 lifetimes. So YOUR scriptural interpretation is the one we now listen to, correct?

The bible is not, never has been, and never will be the inspired word of god. The GB is not, never has been, and never will be a prophet or an instrument used by god. But you are getting a lot of response, as you yourself admitted. Narcissists love that stuff.

And golly gee, some people even like you, they really like you Sally. It's the world wide web. Any dumbass viewpoint will quickly collect to itself a cadre of like-minded dumbasses. Just because some people like you, Sally, doesn't mean you have credibility. It just means there are a lot of dumbasses in the world.

AND, you get to report all of this as time on our monthly FS report. Way!!!!

hi guys, i don't really post on here much anymore, having been on here since 2001. this site helped me out in the early days and has been a great support system for all of my past jw issues.

like many others i was discouraged from an education so that i could window clean and pioneer in my youth during the 80's.

having spent many years post my jw exit in alcoholism and periods of drugs, i decided to clean myself up 7 years ago by attending aa, i was still a window cleaner ... at the time i wrote extensively on here about my issues.

bible describes atheism as a condition of the heart and is all about seeking what is ephemeral, not acting with insight.

(psalm 14:1, 2) thus it rightly says the whole world is lying in the attraction of what is ephemeral.

(wicked one is not a correct translation.1 john 5:19) thus even believers who pray to god (for material blessings) are actually atheists as they are not trying to be poor in spirit.

I was a theist. Then I was an agnostic. Then I was an atheist leaning agnostic. Then I was an atheist. I like atheism better. It is the only one of the 4 that makes any sense. However, as others have stated, if god presented herself along with the other super heroes somewhere, say Times Square, and did something really cooll, like end war and suffering, I would change my mind.

jws believe that god will intervene sometime in the last days!.

interestingly, both throw themselves on their own expectation of soemthing god should or will do, yet in fact something god does not have to do.

Everything that has spewed off of your fingertips regarding atheists has been proven wrong many times on this forum. Either you can't read or you are braindead (LisaRose can I say braindead?). The happiest, most functional, most ethical, most educated and most intelligent states, countries and regions are more likely to be atheist or secular rather than relgious. We have presented empirical data regarding this on numerous occasions. Every few weeks it seems a theist spews such nonsense. I have ignored this OP - and you- until now.

One more time WT: The more religious a state, country or region is, the more likely it is be be dysfunctional, poorly educated, less intelligent and less happy than areas which are more secular and atheistic. I have tons of data supporting this. Wanna see it? Would it matter? Feeler/Beilevers, I mean Theists, tire me. Annoy me. Bore me. You were trapped by the Borg because of your tendency to Feel/Believe. You remain trapped.

There are 3 more rungs on the evolutionary ladder for homo sapiens that you need to climb, but you seem to be happy with the chimps (LisaRose can I say chimps?), who feel and believe. Just like you.
