I've seen elders over the years openly flaunt "the rules", butt-kiss (the CO especially), show favoritism and appoint brothers they like and not appoint brothers that should of been appointed for some trivial reason. Many lord their "power" over the friends in blatant violation of scriptures and watchowers that specifically say that they shouldn't lord themselves over the flock. They pretty much do what they want! I have yet to see a congregation not like this. Anybody disagree? Anybody have any stories backing this up?

So have we got any additional clarification since the initial announcement on this? The change is almost 1 month away and we still don't know how this is going to work exactly? So what's the deal? Is the CO going to make all the decisions from now on regarding this? Or will the elders on the body still have a role to play? Plus, how is the CO going to go about making the decisions on who to appoint etc.? How is all this going to work guys?

Do you think it will be easier or harder to be appointed elder under the new arrangment?
by toto555 inwill it be easier or harder to be made an elder without all the nepotism and favortism under the new 'co appointing elder arrangment'?

how do you think this arrangement is going to work?

Any strategies to deal with elders who just don't like you?
by toto555 inso any ways to deal or cope with elders who just don't like you (you didn't do anything wrong or they're just making stuff up about you) assuming that you can't leave?
especially when it comes to for example becoming appointed as an elder.
or are you pretty much "dead in the water" if the elders are determined to like you despite reasonable efforts to win them over.

Don't you hate it when they just comment from the paragraph?
by toto555 inisn't that just annoying?
can people even comment in their own words anymore?
how bad is it where you're at?

Is the new donation arrangment communism?
by toto555 inthe "richer" congregations giving off their surplus to the "poorer" congregations around the world.
"from each according to their ability to each according to their need".
the maxim of karl marx.

Just think about it. The "richer" congregations giving off their surplus to the "poorer" congregations around the world. "From each according to their ability to each according to their need". The maxim of Karl Marx. Also, the branch is taking over donations and the individual congregations pretty much have no say so on it especially if a new renovation or KH needs to be built in their area (another area could be prioritized over them for God's knows how long). And I guess no dissent is tolerated even by the elders or they are removed by the CO (who has more power to do that now) So what do you think?

Do you think it's rude or disrespectful to be in the bathroom for any reason while the brother is praying?
by toto555 ini had a publisher tell me this recently that she felt that it showed disrespectful to the brother up there giving the prayer, like you're ignoring him or something.
what do you think?
and if so, any bible scripture or watchtower or awake backing this idea up specifically?.

Do you think the nepotism and favoritism will stop with the appointing of elders with the new arrangement?
by toto555 indo you think this is a fairer system and brothers who have never gotten a chance at being elder will finally get it since it's up to the co to decide?
how do you think that's going to work?
do you think the favoritism will go away or be marginalized?.

Did you ever run into brothers who didn't like "straightforward" talks?
by toto555 inso you brother who use to give talks (especially public talks) did you ever run into those brothers that always wanted you to speak "diplomatically" and "show love" all the time even though when you gave a talk and discussed certain points in a honest and straightforward way there was nothing wrong with what you did?
some people just don't like to hear the truth and even want you to "water things down" so that you "tickle" people's ears.
did you ever run into that?.

CO overruling elders on appointments
by toto555 inif a brother wants to reach out to be elder, yet brothers are holding him back for dubious reasons, can/should a brother approach the co and ask him what he needs to be done to be appointed or perhaps having a discussion along the lines of why the elders are holding him unfairly back.
anybody have any experiences along these lines?
is this a good strategy?

Anybody have any experiences along these lines? Is this a good strategy? Any possible problems if a brother does because I've heard on these forums about certain brothers having success doing this and getting appointed over the elders objections? Thoughts?
