  Need advice on splitting up with my JW girlfriend

  many of you that i have become friendly with on this board will probably know the story of me and my jw girlfriend.

  for those that don't, here is the lowdown:.

  three and a half years ago i met my girlfriend, and everything seemed great until about two or three months later she told me that she used to be a jw (and that her brother and certain other family members still were).

  I can't see any easier way to break it off with her than to simple tell the truth as you have here in your thread.

  I don't agree at all with Maverick at all with this comment :

  People attitudes change as they need to, if attitudes didnt chage then I imagine nobody would stop being a Jehovahs Witness ever.

  I don't think you can base a past experience either to this girl you don't know either maverick, you don't know if she will punish him.

  Whatever you decide figureheaduk, I hope it is the best decision you can make and as painless as possible. God knows how I would cope in your situation, but you seem to have your thoughts together.

  Did you use the JW calendars?

  even in my hardcore active jw time i had no use for the jw calendar.

  i ordered it each year and put it into a drawer.

  most months were really ugly illustrated and it was completly useless without the holidays.

  Ugh my mum used to always get them and put them up on the wall. I, like you thought they were completely ugly. I could have thought of alot more fun designs even with a JW completely limiting theme. I also thought it was stupid how they didnt show public holidays and most people that I knew had them up wrote down all the public holidays.

  So in a nut shell, yes they were ugly, no they didnt make sense and no I would never even have looked at them twice if mum hadnt of purchased them.

  The main problems I think that are attacted to the issue are the facts that the legal system in all countries leaves alot to be desired. There are alot of people that are convicted of crimes that they havent commited. Also there is a problem of who would be able to access this information (electronic tracking)

  Don't get me wrong though, Child Sexual Offenders should be punished to the full extent of the law and to be resubmitted into society under the strictest possible method of monitoring. The problem is that an offender could have been truely and seriously sexually abused as a child leading them to commit these acts on yet another child in the first place. The problem has to be thoroughly research. This problem needs to be stamped out as close to totally as we can get. The system can not and should not fail a person that has been sexually messed up to the point of commiting the act on someone else.

  We wouldn't want a person to get access to information about an offender who shouldnt have access to such information. I realise that this is a serious issue and many of you including myself are greatly troubled and angered about it. But I think for this problem we have to put our anger aside and find an action that is resolute and clearly a productive way of treating the situation.

  We did it -- we're married now!!

  june 20th marked a new beginning for me and yourschelbie.. we had a justice-of-the-peace wedding, with just a few family and friends on hand.

  the judge did a marvelous job of capturing the essence of the meaning of marriage in just a few minutes.

  (and we weren't reminded that serving a publishing company should be the #1 priority in life, lol.).

  those who believe in god or those who don't?.

  do you think its more satisfying to know that you are responsible for your own actions and that its completely up to the choices you make?

  or is the hope that "god" gives give a nice goal to reach for even if you have specific things to follow?.

  I think the rules of life are simply and we are already encoded with the real important stuff like you shouldnt kill, you shouldnt hurt people physically mentally etc. Im glad that I can finally take responsabilies for my own actions .. if somthing bad happens in my life it might be my fault or it could be bad luck but god or satan isnt testing me. I know there is nobody to blame, and if somthing good happens it isnt gods will.

  Its very freeing to think about your life in a very simple context instead of weighing everything down to would Jesus do this or that.
