  Sex in the New Book "Learn from the Great Teacher"

  i just obtained a copy of one of the new releases from the summer jw district conventions, learn from the great teacher.

  this book is oriented towards children, and frankly, is a stereotypical piece of propaganda from the "faithful and discreet slave".

  in some ways the book is incredibly revealing, since it has to break down a number of ridiculous jw teachings into a form that even jw children can swallow, and when those teachings are put into simplest form their ridiculousness is evident to everyone but small children and stereotypically braindead jws.

  So, now the WT is taking even more creativity away from people by telling parents exactly where to ask viewpoint questions. Yeah, as if a kid with half a brain wouldn't be able to figure out how to fake the answers anyway -- what they want you to say is the very next sentence after the (--)!

  I wonder if this form of teaching will be incorporated into other publications, say, the WT study? You know, your typical JW is pretty much on a child's level of critical thinking anyway.

  Returning 20 years of JW books to KH need opinions

  my mom and i have been cleaning out the basement and gathered over 20 years worth of jw books, magazines, tracts (some dating from the 1950's!).

  we are playing with the idea to return the jw material in a box, with the words "we quit" and a xeroxed copy of the cover coc next sunday morning in front of the local kh.

  does anyone have any better/more sarcastic ideas?

  I know the "crap in the box" references were probably a joke, but just to be sure....

  Don't act in a manner that will only validate the assumptions JWs make of ex-JWs by behaving in an uncivil manner.

  given that your wts has frequently warned its members to stay away from the internet, and that bad association spoils useful habits, why is it that you persist in posting on this site, which is quite obviously populated by those that are disfelloshipped, disassociated, or, at the very least, spiritually weak?

  if you lived near one of the more vocal posters would you willingly be seen by your body of elders having a conversation with them?

  or, is it the ease of anonymity that allows you to be such a hypocrite and flaunt the rules of the organisation you pathetically claim to follow?

  republicans and democrats have distracted us with unending battles between haves and have-nots for decades.

  over the same period, they have bankrupted the country.

  perhaps that terror, not currency traders or al-qaeda, may explain the odd market decline after a tax cut that was supposed to make stocks soar.

  Peaceful Pete: Interesting points. Again, I don't know for certain that Jesus existed, although I still feel there probably was a historical core to the Jesus stories.

  As for the Lazerus account and why Paul didn't quote from it in Corinthians: Simple -- that particular episode is purely fictional, probably confused with Jesus parable of the rich man and Lazerus.

  Quite honestly, I'm pretty content with leaving the matter where it is. I don't believe that Jebus saves or anything, so I'd rather just spend my time talking about philosophy and sex .

  I just want to make the comment that the "right wing" in the area of economics is true liberalism, in the classic sense. The farther "right" you are, the more you want free trade, deregulation and a laissez-faire economy. The farther "left" you are, the more you want the government to set prices, regulate trade, give us services we don't want and otherwise put their hands into our wallets. In my research, an economy which is open and unregulated grants greater freedoms for all, as well as economic growth. Friedrich Hayek is a great read if you're intersted.

  on last night's installment of 20/20, there was a segment that dealt with parents who use modern technology to spy on their children.

  one dad used a gps installed in his car to track the movements of his daughter.

  another dad installed spyware in his computer and monitored the e-mails and im chats of his daughter.

  I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. My comments were refferring to the 20/20 program, not yourself. Specifically, I feel that the cameras in the room were rather ludicrous. I should have made that clearer in my post.
