Even during my most devout periods it used to drive me mad how often JWs would outright lie to people on the doors, and I find it gets more common the further up someone seems to get. Working with POs and COs was an embarrassment.

The JW cart/booth nonsense
by Gypsy Sam inhttp://www.christianpost.com/news/battle-of-beliefs-baptist-evangelist-nation-of-islam-muslim-and-jehovah-witnesses-vie-for-souls-at-new-yorks-subway-stations-112512/.
will this wake any jw's up to how they have more in common with other sects than they believe?.

A mormon pm's me
by paranoia agent injust read your thread about oblivion to oblivion, watched the video you posted and wondered if you'd be willing to let me send you some videos on the book of mormon.
as you may know, i'm lds and i believe there's substantial evidence for the historicity of the book.
but i'm also aware there's evidence and proof.

Trying to convince anyone of your beliefs over PM is definitely dodgy. Unless you send them questions keep that stuff in the open. If your ideas are good no reason why not.

Some vs Many
by Londo111 init is interesting how the watchtower uses these two words.
for instance, the word some is often used to minimize, and many used to maximize.
and yet, it is so unspecific that some might be a greater quantity than many, yet the mind doesnt process these words this way.. for instance, if it is a failed prediction or a changed teaching, they might say, some believed... when it fact some means most or all, because this was food at the proper time coming from gods channel through the watchtower.

Today's daily text: a contradiction
by pixel inso they publish this:.
friday, january 10. you do not want to go also, do you?john 6:67.. peter responded to jesus question with these words: lord, whom shall we go away to?
you have sayings of everlasting life; and we have believed and come to know that you are the holy one of god.

One of the things that bothers me about the JWs use of this text applied to the Society is that Jesus was talking about Communion, something those same JWs are not allowed to do.

Jesus' Teachings - Helpful or Harmful?
by jgnat inspinning off from another thread, have jesus' teachings been less than universally helpful to mankind?
how do we measure if a particular philosophy is helpful or harmful?.
i am going to use the "universal morals" listed here.

I thought I was leaving my family and friends behind for Jesus when I left the Watchtower. I read that verse "And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life." about 6 times the day I told my parents about my conversion. It gave me a lot of comfort/encouragement at the time I left.
I even weaved it into my testimony at church. Boy was I a hit that day.

It's not very likely you'll be become a JW if you were born in the UK/US, let alone Afghanistan.

I wonder if Moses will be pissed that all his years in the wilderness earned him the reward of telling the same story over and over again while some posers from Brooklyn get to Lord it over him in heaven.
